The treatment of depression lies in a person’s understanding of himself, his thoughts, his circumstances, his surroundings, the mechanism of his brain’s work, etc., and the so-called depression treatment medications will not be able to replace what was mentioned above.

It is not possible to generalize, but it usually reflects the extent to which personal goals are achieved or needs are met, which are not necessarily personal. It may be a mother’s happiness in seeing her children happy, etc. There may be imaginary happiness or a feeling of temporary happiness resulting from drugs, excitement, etc. True happiness depends on the person who defines it, but to simplify the idea: no one can say that a mother’s happiness in seeing her children happy is an imaginary happiness (regardless of the details of the reason for her children’s happiness), as there is something built into the mother’s self that causes her happiness once her requirements are met.

The concept of happiness depends on the category on which the survey is conducted! For example, in an unstable country where theft flourishes, the number of thieves will increase and they will be happy from their point of view (they have achieved their goals), but if you ask an academic person who is interested in Science in the same country and ask him if he is happy, he will answer you saying no and that is because of the collapse of the educational system and Research. In a stable country, you will find the causes of happiness varied, even if relatively. What this person says is true in terms of evaluating happiness, who evaluates it, and on what basis!

Continuous physical pain also causes symptoms of depression, because this hinders normal life and mental abilities as well. For example, if a child was found complaining of severe pain in his intestines or leg, but medicine was unable to diagnose or treat his condition, the doctor may say that the child has psychological and mental problems and not physical problems that cause symptoms of depression, and medicine may advance in the future and the medical cause will be discovered. That child's complaint is real, and the symptoms of depression go away once the cause of the pain is treated.
Isn’t that possible?! That child has real severe pain that causes a symptoms of depression but current medicine can’t diagnose that! The specialists will think that child has depression! And there is no defect in their diagnostic abilities due to the lack of sufficient medical progress!

You cannot compare the feelings of members of a society that is stable, secure, economically, and socially stable.... Etc. with happiness with members of a society suffering from lack of security or economic and social instability, etc.! The environment is important for feeling happy, if you imprisoned human among apes that will make him unhappy too, to concise: environment plays a main role of feeling happiness.

Assuming the existence of two neighboring countries, one of the two countries made economic, scientific, social, cultural, etc. achievements, while the neighboring country did nothing of value but only collected weapons. Suddenly the country that had made the achievements was exposed to a security setback and the residents of the neighboring country began to plunder and steal from the country. neighboring them. What will happen when survey is conducted in the two countries?! Those who steal will be happy from their point of view, while the residents of the country that was plundered and robbed are unhappy! is that clear?! from the point of view of the harmful parasites they are so happy but from the point of view of the victims they aren’t (it depends on who defines so-called happiness)!

Great interview Ricardo. You can go deeper. I insist and challenge you again to interview Mattias Desmet. If you really appreciate evidence based science, try Dr. John Campbell.
