Currently planning on making prints to fill out some spaces in my new home. This will be the first time I'll be printing my own work , although I've spent way to much on gear instead 😅
I just started my channel going over my journey learning about printing photos. The ink is ridiculous but I love getting to see them printed off in person that large. The settings and paper selection is killing me and I wish I had your eye for detail. I'll try to recommend a certain paper or setting to people but I leave it up to them. I think you are right about some photos needing to go on a matte but every now and then I do enjoy a glossy or higher. I've been printing my photos, clients photos and even photos for my other photographer friends. I really enjoyed this video thank you! Keep it going!!!
Photo books: Blurb Font: Bebas Size: Probably 8"x10" Landscape (00:26 used as size reference) Design: Self-designed in InDesign - using Blurb plugin. Has about 5-6 layouts she uses. Paper: MOHAWK SUPERFINE EGGSHELL (5:37 mentions using uncoated stock. Only uncoated available).
This may be my favorite video I’ve seen of yours. You can tell you didn’t make it because it’s what the people wanted, you made it because it means something to you. These are the videos I want to see.
The mood in this video is UNREAL! We're currently undergoing a storm and the weather outside is cloudy and cold which has me in such a relaxed state of mind and watching this video makes the vibe feel just right.
This was tight!! Been looking into blurb myself, now I’m confident in pulling the trigger! 🙌🏼 The aesthetic & colors on this video looks SOO good too!! 🖤
I like photo-books and created my first one to record my holiday to the Maldives. It was worth the expense, because the photos from this part of the world were unique and a great way record a timeline and share with friends and family. I made another when I came to the US to build hours, island hoping, flying around the Bahamas. More recently I captured the work I did decorating my home whilst applying new skills that made the end result more memorable. You mentioned printing, I bought a used Epson Stylus Pro 7880, to make big prints that I have taken or downloaded from a photo bank then framed then, and created themes in different rooms around the house. When we bought our Ducati Scrambler motorbikes we used of these bikes to create a theme in our snug. Next year we will change them to something else. To get the best results and limit workflow we hire the RIP software as it allows me to drop a number of images on the virtual roll of paper and quickly play with the layout and image sizes. Spending some money on a tool to create profiles for the third-party ink and paper gives me great results and save a lot of money on not buying the OEM inks. I like your videos and photo tutorials. They have given me some new ideas to play with. Everything on your channel is of a standard and looks so natural, but I guess a lot time goes into each video. Great job and thanks fir sharing!
This is awesome! I'm taking a summer road trip with my son to visit my daughter in San Francisco. I wanted to document our adventure to see my daughter/his sister. Thanks!
i just started recently doing this. I had the epiphany one day that with digital photos they always just live on people's phone and hard drives now. Printing them out really has a special feel and sentimental value to them
I have made a couple magazines through blurb. If you are just starting out with printing or on a budget this is a great way to go. What I have learned so far is that colours/tones don’t always print the same way they look on screen.
OMG now I have to go through ten years of photos and start creating photobooks because ALL my work lives online and hard drives. Thank you for the inspiration.
We've been using Blurb for 10 years now! Our wedding album, kids' albums, etc. - they're great. And while it's not "cheap," it's TOTALLY worth it. Our photos BECOME our memories, and that's what life is really about. And Becki, your design... everything... is just awesome.
Oh, also - we always get 2 copies of each album... just because with kids, pets, and... life... it's huge peace of mind knowing that we have a backup. Do you do that, or just life life on the edge with a solo album? 😂
Not the video I asked for, but the video i needed. Have around a couple of TBs worth of shots in my backup storage. And the only time I see them is when i'm looking for some old project and then its like a memory blast. Would be nice to make them into physical copies. "See, I can do colour"- Becki *shows the shot of the sea* I sea what you did there xD
LOVE the tips. I love using Blurb. I always make photo books for Christmas gifts for people. When people hire me or have me help with projects I always shoot a lot of photos of the project (and try not to let them see me getting those photos) to surprise them later with a good-looking photo book of their project to keep on their shelf and show people their work! Love the tips in this video!
cool video for my final for undergrad (6yrs ago) OMG i am getting old lol we made books with blurb. the quality was pretty good! I need to get back into making my books!
I still love the NY shot of Chris getting into the cab with a long shutter! A golden oldie that has pushed me to try long exposures on moving subjects. Thank you Becki for teaching and inspiring us oh and Chris for his 'the more you know' comments 😂. The best of which was the Pepsi vs Coke challenge 😂.
I'm a long-time Blurb user. Whenever, I've had a problem (poor color reproduction, binding problems, etc.), Blurb has always corrected it at no cost. I find their customer service to be outstanding. I'm trying to get them to invest in a Canon DreamLabo printer or silver halide like many other photobook publishers use. The quality improvement is worth the extra cost to me. Thanks for your insights. I couldn't agree more! :)
They’re beautiful 😍 I stumbled upon your video, totally a basic iPhone picture take over here but this has given me inspiration to start printing, especially cause I have 2 toddlers who are growing so fast! Thanks
Just found your channel and I just keep watching your videos. Love what you’re doing and what I’m learning. I think you have a unique and refreshing perspective compared to other channels, really making me think!
Love this content. Thank you for reminding the little things we take granted for 🤩 Love too the uniformity in your photobooks looks. I do compile travel, special events photos and those from phones in @photobook, just like you did-according to when it started, so that it tells a story when i look at them later. I tend to appreciate tangible photos now after the passing on of my loved ones. Photos they left are gems and it is such a touching moment to relive the memories, with the kids. Printing photos may not be a big deal now but it is gold to those who look back at them. Priceless!
I did this recently so that my father who can't use the internet would be able to see some of my photography and I will definitely be ordering more books as time goes by! Such a great experience compared to just seeing your photos on a screen and also makes you go through your photos again a bit more critically which is great for learning.
I don't print enough for myself. As a wedding photographer, I'm constantly designing and printing books for clients, always exciting to hold the final project. Maybe this will give me a kick to make some books for myself, finally!
I fell in love with photography because my mother has hundreds of photo albums. I find now we barely print our photos so I definitely want to implement this. Thanks Becki!!!
Great video! I used to print photos in book before instagram era. Watching your video makes me want to do them again. Also I watched your channel for the first time and your video quality is so good. Dark but clean!
I have family prints in my hallway but apart from that everything else goes into photobooks, I love building the layouts and putting together images as a story!
Love this! I've never printed photo's into a book before but I love the idea of having a matching collection of trips. Might give this a go. Thanks for Sharing Becki.
I really dug this video! So many times I "planned" on creating a photo book of my travels and memorable time with friends but between work and study (all music related) and moving back to the US from Japan, waiting to get a better understanding and solid skills of post production which I now have and the whole cycle again of traveling.... Never completed it.. Gotta get it done this year! Thanks for the inspiration
I've been a huge fan of your style and to see that projected into these photobooks-omg. This is such a unique and interesting idea and i definitely want to start doing this for my photos now too! thanks for the tips Becki! (p.s. love how each book is organized, in order, and stylistically consistent. THIS IS SO SATISFYING)
I would love to see your process of creating your photo book. I do photo books myself but I feel it is very difficult to come up with a well designed photo book that contains all the photos you would like to print. Sometimes I have photos from a specific event which don’t fit together in terms of colour matching. Your pages look very even and pleasant to look at. I would like to see another video with more details and tips for creating a photo book.
Love that you did a video on this! Paper is the best smell in the world...lol I was just thinking of printing photos again. I definitely think its a lost art. I just wish I had more wall space to hang more up. 🤔
Blurb is great!! Also a great way to print your portfolio... Side note: if you're not a wizard like Becky, Mixbook has great quality print and an easy layout software to get started!
I print a bunch and also do some photobooks. But 'til now, I always kept the phone shots out because of the quality issues, and my partner hates me for that 🤷🏻♂️ But now, thanks to you, I'll know for my next book how to include them 😎 Thank you so much 😊
I do a photobook of every year and the book starts in the beginning of the year to the end. I use the Lightroom plugin for blurb. The plug-in is easy to edit photos without exporting. In January we both off load everything and organize by date and event. I do want to use InD but feels like it will take a longer time to put together
Love the idea of printing photos. Thank you for this video. I've just recently printed my first bigger prints and it is awesome! Before that (3-4 years in photography) never printed anything and now I'm rediscovering photography around printing. Great design and layout in your photo books!
the whole World: A7S III!!!! R555555!!!! R6!!!!! Becki: BOOKS!!!!! love it. I am a design student. I had the opportunity to design and curate a portfolio book. super fun.
Doing the same and have the same experience with blurb. Luckily they have a quite good customer service and replace everything with printing defects super fast :-)
Great idea to put the iPhone photos all together in a grid at the back . I have been integrating them with my camera shots but will try this approach next.
“I dunno... nobody asked for this video...” While that might be true, you can bet that I’ll be doing this soon! Thanks for the video i didn’t know i needed!!!
I’ve never seen anything like these before and I gotta saw those book are really beautiful and inspire me to come up with one of my own too! Love you guys so much!
Sorry if this has already been mentioned - another great use for a photo book like this - a gift. Say you go on a trip, and wish you could share it with a loved one who couldn't travel with you. Make them a photo book, tell the story of the trip through your photographs, and they get to experience the trip through your lens.
I love how you made them all match. That just is magic to my OCD soul ❤️ I get so lazy to format and print these books but you are motivating me to make some this year. Also, love that IG grid in the back. Such a brilliant idea!
This is my first year of photography and I am making it a tradition to print a photo book at the end of every year cause in 5-10 Years I can go back and look at how I’ve improved
Thanks for answering my question! I literally just got some books printed two days ago! But will definitely refer back to this video for any future books I print. Thanks for the tips and a look into your process.
I'm a Blurb girl too. They are expensive, but the quality is good, and I've had very good luck with their customer service. They have corrected any mistakes. (I love the idea of the grid photos in the back) I love layout too! And your videos.
Thanks Becki! We would love to do this. I've been definitely wanting to do this for awhile now, but unconsciously, I was waiting for you guys to show us how. 🔥🔥🔥
Blurb are awesome to be fair, their products are outstanding, I’ve used them on a couple of personal books and a couple of weddings I’ve shot. I’m in the uk and their either print in mainland Europe or the USA but they always arrive really quickly for the quality you get. I’ve had a few damaged in transit - definitely not blurbs fault and as soon as I spoke to customer service they reprinted the book very quickly and shipped me the replacement for free, that service level is hard to find especially in the uk and it really makes a difference!
Do you guys ever print your photos? I feel like it’s a bit of a lost art but DAMN it’s fun to do.
i love doing it ...
I've always had my favs printed through Mpix
I keep pushing it to the future, but this video was a great inspiration to get it done. This fall. Probably.
Currently planning on making prints to fill out some spaces in my new home. This will be the first time I'll be printing my own work , although I've spent way to much on gear instead 😅

You too kind!
@@Chiefhosa YEs I agree!
Can we have a full version of this, everything from scratch.
Right! I want to know that font... although I am guessing it's Bebas?
@@roguetrail It's definitely some cinematic bold font type, though I'm more interested in her InDesign work!!
“Unfortunately this paper doesn’t smell as good as other paper I smell” 🤣🤣
This may be my favorite video I’ve seen of yours. You can tell you didn’t make it because it’s what the people wanted, you made it because it means something to you. These are the videos I want to see.

Yessss capture alllll the photons

The aesthetic & colors on this video looks SOO good too!! 🖤
This was really helpful, a follow-up showing the way you do it in indesign would be awesome
That would be cool! An InDesgin video!!!!!
That would be nice
I second this recommendation. Thumbs up for follow-up #beckiandchris
Would love to see that as know I want to make some books.
Yesss

Love how clean your designs look. Also I love that you touch on for Instagram vs personal memories and the value in each of those.
This is awesome! I'm taking a summer road trip with my son to visit my daughter in San Francisco. I wanted to document our adventure to see my daughter/his sister. Thanks!
We took the habit to always make an album when we come back from a trip. Having the photos on paper is such a different feel and is so satisfying
i just started recently doing this. I had the epiphany one day that with digital photos they always just live on people's phone and hard drives now. Printing them out really has a special feel and sentimental value to them
The color grading quality of these videos are top notch. I can only dream of watching them in ultra wide
I wish there was a way to see more of your photos like these! Sometimes the less-than-bangers of photographers are really fun to look at.
I got a personal IG account for that! Mostly memories and random mobile photos
I have made a couple magazines through blurb. If you are just starting out with printing or on a budget this is a great way to go. What I have learned so far is that colours/tones don’t always print the same way they look on screen.
I know you said that no one asked for this video but I am SO happy you made this. I have my first book on the way and I am psyched!
OMG now I have to go through ten years of photos and start creating photobooks because ALL my work lives online and hard drives. Thank you for the inspiration.
Me: How do u make these look so good? Becki: I'm a wizard with InDesign, color and page layout.. Me: Son of a..
I'm a librarian with a degree in graphic design. I hope you know what this video just did to my little heart!! LOVE this!!!!

My favourite part of this is the commentary on the paper scent 😂 I feel you Becky, good book smells are THE BEST
We have been using blurb (soft cover) for 10 years documenting our daughters life. It's great for gifts to everyone especially the grandparents.
Perfect perfect timing! I was just thinking about making a photo book as a wedding anniversary gift
Hell yes!!
When 0:00 Becki say hello and smile, my heart just went OooPs. So cute!! Great video :)
01:14 hahaha that’s a weird phrase to say. Awesome video Becki! Definitely doing a photo book in the near future
I'm in the process of printing some photos for Christmas presents and this is going to be my project for next year, so this is SUPER helpful.
Leave it to becki and Chris to take getting prints to a whole new artsy level. And what great coffee table books, hell fuckin yeah.
Haha the whole process is so fun especially seeing them in person!

Love from India 💓💓💓
i love watching this video because of how i can connect as a designer and who love photography.

those books look awesome, love the layout!
Your awesome memories and tips will help me to create mine. for sure!! Thank you Becki
This is such a good way to keep a physical portfolio too!! I am working on getting something like these books for my sfx makeup stuff
YES!! Omg agreed!
I’m so inspired! What size photo book did you choose? Standard 8” x 10” or 11” x 13”? Thank you!
Looking at 00:26, it looks slightly smaller than a piece of paper when you hold it in your hands. So my best guess would be 8"x10"
I would love to see your process of creating your photo book. Sometimes in the future, your grand grand children must be really proud having such kickass grandparents like you both.
Thank you god making this video! I recently discovered Blurb and am very much looking forward to making photo books of some of my favorite memories.
Always love to have hard copies, having them in hand definitely makes us relive those movements. Great video as always !!
Damn I need to start doing this! They look so good!
This is such a good idea. And it seems like it would give you some inspiration for taking more photos on trips.
I just saw your channel and this is fire good quality. Also, my favorite thing is how you decorated a room that's so classy. Thx for the video
I print a bunch and also do some photobooks. But 'til now, I always kept the phone shots out because of the quality issues, and my partner hates me for that 🤷🏻♂️ But now, thanks to you, I'll know for my next book how to include them 😎 Thank you so much 😊
I really appreciate this. I’m learning how to move my digital archive of photos into analog (print) with books and large format metal prints.
I loved the video! This is such a great idea and your books look fantastic. I am definitely going to start making books for all of my trips!
I do a photobook of every year and the book starts in the beginning of the year to the end. I use the Lightroom plugin for blurb. The plug-in is easy to edit photos without exporting. In January we both off load everything and organize by date and event. I do want to use InD but feels like it will take a longer time to put together
1:14 “Unfortunately this paper doesn’t smell as good as some other papers I smell.” Why is that so relatable?
i thought this was hilarious LOL
Love the idea of printing photos. Thank you for this video. I've just recently printed my first bigger prints and it is awesome! Before that (3-4 years in photography) never printed anything and now I'm rediscovering photography around printing. Great design and layout in your photo books!
I absolutely love this idea and am going to start a photo book library starting with my next trip!
I just had printing in mind, good timing with this video! Thank you.
the whole World: A7S III!!!! R555555!!!! R6!!!!!
Becki: BOOKS!!!!!
love it. I am a design student. I had the opportunity to design and curate a portfolio book. super fun.
Oooo! Spectacular. This video is a god send. I've never considered a book. Thanks you soooooo much for this idea!
The amount of value this channel provides is just insane!!! Thanks for the amazing video as always. :)
Doing the same and have the same experience with blurb. Luckily they have a quite good customer service and replace everything with printing defects super fast :-)
Wow, complete game changer. I'm going to start making these books now!
This was fantastic! Some great tips. Thanks for sharing. Your albums look great.
Great idea to put the iPhone photos all together in a grid at the back . I have been integrating them with my camera shots but will try this approach next.
Nothing better than printing photos and love workbooks
I was just thinking about making photobooks of my work. Thank you for making this.
I love this idea! May I ask what is the name of the font you used on the cover? It's really striking.
FOLLOWING!
Font: Bebas

We have a back log of trips/books that need to be laid out and printed 🙈
Those look so cool. What a great idea and perfectly executed
Aww man .. this would be a great gift from a family trip. 🤔💡 Thanks for the idea Becki
Your photobooks are so aesthetically pleasing, done a great job with them!
Thanks for the info!
Love the lighting in this set!!
Thanks Wesley!
Those books are super cool! I think we need an indesign tutorial at some point now.
This is my first year of photography and I am making it a tradition to print a photo book at the end of every year cause in 5-10 Years I can go back and look at how I’ve improved
love the idea best way to keep your work alive ❤️
I love the video, but can we stop and appreciate the moody lighting of this video...WOOOOWWWW!!!!
Awesome. I would appreciate if you can share the LUT you always using for your videos. Thanks in Advance

Thanks Becki! We would love to do this. I've been definitely wanting to do this for awhile now, but unconsciously, I was waiting for you guys to show us how. 🔥🔥🔥
Beautiful environment
It would be cool to see your work in Indesign and create a spread or two. Loved the vid and can't wait to give this a try for my next trip!
Blurb are awesome to be fair, their products are outstanding, I’ve used them on a couple of personal books and a couple of weddings I’ve shot.
