This is the reason I fell in love with Ireland. I can close my eyes and go back there. Absolutely beautiful song, no words could describe the feelings of serenity and peace his talent provokes.
Saw Ger perform this in Galway last week. Not only is he a fantastic composer and performer, but apparently he composed this piece when he was 14. Incredible
I was on the m6 motorway trying to get somewhere 10mins before i set off ,having a bad stressful day then i played this within about 2mins i was so relaxed i got over taken by a lorry 🏝🏝🏖🏞👍👍👍
OK, lovely sound. Sends shivers down my spine. Now, all we have to do is to evolve the third arm actually required to play the bloody pipes properly... And yes, I tortured my family for several years trying to learn how to play them...
I experience this live - Trad on the Prom, September of 2019 - and it moved me to tears. This fellow knows how to tug at the heartstrings. What an amazing song, and a great arrangement!
Wow this is the music of the Celts and played so well, sounds like the crying of the banshee out on the burren, music like this makes me so proud to be Irish, it really tugs at the heart strings, i think there is a tear in my eyes, outstanding wonderful music thanks guys.
Incredibly beautiful air and played so wonderfully reminded of my childhood growing up in Ireland my uncle playing he's bagpipe Roisin dubh forever Ireland is ingrained in my genetic code I am so proud to be Irish the greatest country on God's Earth. God bless Ireland
I first heard this piece at Trad on the Prom in Galway. I cannot explain the gut reaction I have everytime I hear it. We have since used this piece in two of my daughters's weddings. One daughter walked down the isle to Magh Seola, the other as her first dance.
Listening to this in Thailand. Oh how I wish to listen to this in Ireland. Must stay and suffer the heat. Such beautiful Irish music.i shall listen to more
I had the the great pleasure of seeing (and hearing!) Ger Fahy play this and then meeting him in Galway at Trad on the Prom this past summer. It's hauntingly beautiful. . . .
Next to Caoineadh Cu Chulainn composed by Bill Whelan for the Riverdance soundtrack this is my favorite pipe air. The Sun the Stream of Enya's first album played beautiful by the legendary Liam O''F'ynn and Davy Spillane's ( the original Riverdance piper ) Midnight Walker are quite stunning as well. Then there's the myriads of traditional airs. I love An Feochan, and Buaile Mhaodhog particularity. I've been playing the whistle, low whistles and Irish flute for years and should just buy a practice set. I play the Bulgarian pipes or Gaida so it might be a not as hard jump as starting from scratch.
Went and listened to this as part of Trad on the Prom last weekend and sobbed my heart out. Such talent to bring so much emotion and beauty to the ear, all from an instrument.
Clare, Thanks so much for your kind words and delighted that you enjoyed it too. Apologies for delay with reply but today is the first day I have logged on in months. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Galway. Ger
Sweet Mother of Pearl ! Ger - that is one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever heard on the Uillean pipes, and you, Sir, are a true maestro - stunningly good playing. The folks who were there to see you play are lucky indeed. The Irish heritage in me was extremely moved by both the music and the artist. Cheers from Canada🇨🇦🇮🇪
Was very privileged to be at opening night of Trad on the Prom 2017 and hear Ger's latest stunning composition, completed only the week before ("for Bridie"?). Words can't convey the beauty of the piece. The whole show was outstanding - without doubt the highlight of our week in Galway and amongst the best of our 3 weeks in Ireland (from NZ)
Heard Ger play this live at the Trad on the Prom in Galway...the beauty of the Galway area that he captured in this composition brought tears to my eyes...what a gorgeous piece of music played by a master of the Uileann pipes!
Liam O'flynn would have loved your playing and Johnny Bourke, Beauty is the one who makes the angels sing from them thee pipes, Welcome to show the aussies all about what true music is all about::::))) Welcome to Gladstone Queensland Australia, I wrote the poem....
My wife Anita and I will attend the show at Portalen, Greve, Denmark 21'st of january 2017. Looking very much forward to it :-) Best regards Michael and Anita
We should be glad Ger is still alive…. After Shane signed off… two geniuses….. if it was easy write what that man just played. I’d be a millionaire. ☘️
I am fairly new at learning the Uilleann pipes and found this video last week. AMAZING!! Ger I turn on this vid and try to play along. I hope that is okay. This is such a brilliant piece of work. I cant find the backtrack to this. I feel what is being played behind you just goes so well. Thank you for sharing your work and your craft sir .Cheers from Indianapolis,Indiana

Your last word, "evokes", not "provokes".
Je pleure a chaque fois
Hearing the haunting sound of these pipes makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, just beautiful
If you've any Irish at all, the pipes will touch your soul. I love the old airs and ballads.

Whoever came up with this instrument did mankind a favour.
And all from a sheep's stomach!

Those sheep end up with a guaranteed entry to that great pasture in the sky, Peter Simmons. God bless, 'em.

Keep the bag pipes, these pipes have far more soul and heart.
The bagpipes are pipes of war. These are pipes of fireside and saga. Proud to be Irish!
They ARE bagpipes - the queen of the bagpipes...
wonderful melody
If you are not crying, play it again
Class.
Scandalous that Ger and Mairín Fahy are not household names.......huge huge talents.
