What pitch techniques will be in my programs? 1st and 3rd of theese. Maybe even the second.
1) Tempophone-like (changes tempo by interleaving 2 copies of the signal, then speeds up / slows down)
2) PSOLA ("guesses" the frequency and finds begining of the sine vawes, good only for harmonic sounds)
3) FFT (a mathematical function, that turns a vawe (collection of samples) into frequency spectrum and back. Manipulating with this spectrum can change tempo, speeding up / slowing down the sound afterwards pitches it)
1st is least accurate, 3rd is most accurate (In fact it's widely used). 1st is the fastest 3rd is the slowest.
FFT is often used for visualization. Have you ever seen bars in a music video, that represented frequencies and were raising to the beat? That's exactly FFT. I should include FFT visualization effect, so you can make your remixes more interesting.
The pitch technique I originally implemented was almost like the second one, but not really. I think I can do better now.
I derived the formula for the first, since it can be expressed in one formula. It should be something like this (NOT 100% SURE):
O(t) = WF((t%n)/n) * I((floor(t/n) * x * n)+(t % n)) + WF(((t%n)/n + 0.5) % 1) * I((floor((t-n/2)/n) * x * n)+((t+n/2) % n))
where n is window size, x is how much the signal should be stretched and t is position in the signal. "I" is input signal, "O" is output signal and "WF" is an arbitrary window function.
