1. Kingdom (Broadest Category) In taxonomy, the kingdom is the broadest grouping of life forms (e.g., animals, plants). In ideology, this could represent the broad philosophical foundations or worldviews that underlie all ideologies, such as: Materialism (belief that physical matter is the basis of reality). Spiritualism (belief in a spiritual reality beyond the physical world). Rationalism or Empiricism (ways of knowing and interpreting the world). 2. Phylum In taxonomy, phyla group organisms based on general body plans or structures. In ideology, this could represent fields of thought, such as: Political Ideologies: Systems focused on governance and power. Economic Ideologies: Systems focused on production, distribution, and wealth. Cultural Ideologies: Systems focused on values, identity, and social norms. 3. Class In taxonomy, classes divide phyla into more specific groups (e.g., mammals, birds within vertebrates). In ideology, classes could represent distinct schools of thought within each field: Political Ideologies: Liberalism Conservatism Socialism Fascism Economic Ideologies: Capitalism Communism Mixed Economies
Beautifully put. I agree that ideologies (and beliefs more broadly) are hierchically arranged where some are more foundational. I would equate ideology to dogma. Someone who is ideologically bent would claim that "materialism is the ONLY basis of reality," or they would say that "conservatism is the ONLY correct political belief."

How about a belief is an instance of a taxonomy?
Dig your cerebral play.
