Glad to see you made it. That looked scary as hell! I would not have made it in my kayak. I once took my cousin kayaking for her first time here in Az. A micro burst hit and blew us across the lake. To me, that was scary, Great video
Awesome job landing in that surf ! I use a dive reel for my anchor line and I run the anchor line thru a small inflatable buoy ball and once the anchor hits bottom just drop the reel , now tether off of the reel that's in the water that way the anchor is pulling down on the buoy ball instead of your kayak ! A lot safer ! Plus you can unhook quickly if you wanted to and just come back to the bouy ball for your anchor anytime
I was caught in a horrible squall with just a cheap Walmart boogie board in the Gulf of Mexico. It's was definitely a life changing experience. I'm lucky to be alive.
That is why I think guys who go out on great lakes 4 or 5 miles are nuts. When the wind picks up & water gets ruff your screwed & the water on the great lakes is much colder then in the ocean.
+BBBYpsi I fish the great lakes out of my kayak. Checked the weather one day and the forecast was calling for light and variable winds. Went out about a mile and the lake was calm as glass. Out of nowhere the wind started ripping out of the north 25-30 mph. No matter how hard I paddled I went no where. I ended up getting to the beach and had to walk 2 miles back to get the car. Not a situation I want to get caught in again. The great lakes are something to be feared and respected. I've been fishing them for 30 years. I've seen what they are capable of. The weather here can change on a dime. It don't matter if your in a big boat or kayak it can get dangerous real quick.
+wantsome480 I had a1996 16 foot pro v boat with a 40 hp mercury force on it. Launched out of Bolles harbour. My phone had live radar with my cast weather. I was 16 miles out in Ohio waters trolling for walleye. Say a line of thunderstorms with 60+ mph winds on west side of state moving my way fast. I headed in & not more then 5 minutes after got boat on trailer it hit. They said out on the lake 8 foot waves started happening. If I did not see that radar I would have been stranded on little sister Island screwed. The witch of Lake Erie can get you at anytime.
+BBBYpsi Yeah Lake Erie is no joke. It can be deceiving when it's calm. I fish out of Sterling State Park a lot on my buddies boat. Any wind out of the east on this side of the state is bad. I've seen Lake Erie whip up in a blink of an eye. I fish everywhere from Lake Erie Detroit River Lake St Clair St Clair River Lake Huron. Where ever the fish are biting. Lake Huron is a 45 minute drive north and Lake Erie is a 45 minute drive south. I live about 10 minutes away from Lake St Clair. I know these waters like the back of my hand. Gonna target some pike in the next week or two.
BBBYpsi Sorry to head about your father. Cancer seems to be the scourge of mankind. I lost my job too a while back and had to sell all of my fishing gear. The last 10 years have been tough. I can't afford a boat so I bought a kayak. I've been a member of michigan sportsman for 12 years although I don't use the site much. I don't like to share info on there. It can get pretty bad during ice fishing season if the word gets out on where the fish are. Lake St Clair turns into a circus. 800 people fighting for 25 parking spots is a sight to see.
+wantsome480 I go by BBBYpsi on the forum & usually lake erie detroit river. Look me up & request friend. I haul travel trailers all over the lower 48 now. I pick them up in Indiana. By the letters in my handle you can guess where I live. I grew up in Brighton. Thinking about trying some pier fishing sometime & learn about that.
Ah, no to that trolling motor idea. For minimal power, you're looking to ad massive weight to the kayak, which lowers your buoyancy, dooming you to capsize. Manny kayak dudes love to add gear all the time without a care for the weight which is your enemy. Hello.
man ... you panic to much idk if the kayak flips arround wold you be able turn flip it back up ? with panic the % of flip it is greater if you cant get on the kayak back wold be alot more danger instead of the storm /sharks/ :)))
Andrew Daly better drifting for a mile. Sometimes the water is just too deep for a stake out pole. But in this scenario, I would have just cut the line.
Haha, the look on your face when you looked back towards the horizon was priceless! Glad you guys made it back ok.
Glad you made it buddy. Thanks for the lesson.

I would have just left the anchor, marked the spot on gps, and returned to get it whenever I could.
I guess it's kind of off topic but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released series online?
@Lennox Zayn I use flixportal. You can find it on google =)
@Bodie Ashton thank you, I went there and it seems to work =) I appreciate it!
@Lennox Zayn no problem =)

Good job! You stayed calm and made it!
The look on your face was hilarious. Glad you made it though. That's was crazy

I'm surprised that cable lock withstood that much pressure without breaking before you were able to remove it.
have you ever flipped this thing out past the breakers?
You got skills, dump that anchor though I would have glad you mage out in brother.
So is the hobie capable in the ruff or not? seemed to be going sideways a lot
You almost tipped it at 2:15, very close call.
That Made me pucker a bit! Nice surfing!
Found this looking at Kayaks! WOOOO Scary! LOL

hahaha great job.,.. that got the island chromosomes going.
that was one stable kayak
You’re so lucky
Do you ever flip on PA14?
good job getting back. It's a good idea to attach a small trolling motor when headed into questionable areas.

Good job. Never put your anchor in front of you At the rought weather
AWESOME 😀👍🎣 but scary
Stay safe out there!
Hell yeah!!
Every man for themselves!
You ocean kayak guys are just asking for it, but you think you're fine. That's why they make big normal boats.
Is anyone going to comment on that totally badass hat?

deng i wouldve been screw the anchor im out LOL gj
Whew!!
That flag is going nuts.
RUN
Anchors just seem like a bad idea with a kayak, especially if they get stuck, too inefficient. I
Andrew Daly better drifting for a mile. Sometimes the water is just too deep for a stake out pole. But in this scenario, I would have just cut the line.
Hang loose bro 🤙🤙🤙🤙
il faisait beaucoup moins le malin avant d'arriver sur la plage !
