@Daniel Because they are sprinting down field with their eyes forward, not in the air. Their job is to get to the returner as quickly as possible and make the tackle, so they aren't focused on where the ball is in the air, but instead where the returner is.
These are players who clearly studied the rules and are completely focused on the game. Some of their opponents were relaxing a little too soon, thinking the play was over. Intelligence and effort makes a big difference.
If you want me to explain in the American football clips where someone is out on the side white lines and touches the ball that would make it a dead ball because of kickoff. When people jump to get the ball in bounds is because if they were on the ground they’d be out of bounds. That’s all I can remember that I can explain :/
In many of the American Football clips, the players will step out out of bounds then touch the ball to prevent the opposite team from getting close enough to score. They also were will catch the ball before they are out of bounds so that their team will gain yardage on the other team. It depends on how close the other team is to your end zone;if they are really close to your end zone, you you need to try to get the ball out so that they will not get close enough to score. If the ball is closer to the other team’s end zone, you would usually try to catch it. Then, your team will start with the ball, and will be closer to the other team’s goal.

During a basketball game I had a guy try the "throw the ball off of the other team while going out of bounds" play but instead of hitting me in the chest he aimed a little lower. Had to sit out the rest of the game because I could barely walk lol
