tryhards can be exhausting but going against them is good practice so my attitude towards em’ has changed. the only tryhards i find really annoying are the ones who could stomp you 20 times and the moment you win a duel, they get salty and weirdly disrespectful

To be completely fair to the tryhards how would it feel to you to win every match against someone in literal seconds then they get you on some bs and then act like your the problem for winning too much, more than a few times I have met people who win one duel after 20 and block and write hate comments

His point on off-stock not making any sense theme wise makes absolutely zero sense to me. Just look at the cleanrot knights, they're literally using off-stock with their weapons.

Can't wait to play it for a month before 1v1's are the only mode you can connect to again.
Also some arena variety would be cool. DS3 had every dueling map be different, Kiln of flame had uneven ground and a huge elevation for plunges, Dragon shrine was split by walls making a tiny labyrinth for ambushes, Lothric Rooftops were circular on a sloping roof with a huge central tower, and Pontiff plaza was flat and round for some fair and honest duels on even footing.
Elden Ring arenas are all the same and get boring pretty fast.

I like to swap my weapon around during duels, like I might spawn with a flame strike scythe, then swap to a bhs spear and then swap to endure fists at the end, that’s fun for me, but people call me a try hard for spam swapping weapons, when in reality im just having fun and I’m actually pretty bad at duels

Eh I disagree with one point. There's no way it's fun to play passive and run away any time someone approaches you. I'll never understand the passive tryhard runaway strat; anyone can do it and waste time and force a draw. Those people absolutely play to win and not to "get better" or "express your skill".
Staling is sadly one of better ways to win pvp fights, it would be countered by having smaller arenas allowing the corner combat to be more present in ER pvp but of course fromsoft fuck up and made the arenas massive
If by that you mean what people normally call passive play: it's just staying close enough to the opponent to bait them into overextending which you will then punish with an attack of your own. You are too close, you take damage, you are too far, you don't get the punish. It's fun and takes good skill and it's a key component of being a good player. It's only not fun for the player getting outspaced over and over. As for the people who genuinely, truly "run away": they simply realize they'll lose if they fight so they try to stall the fight until the timeout. Losing makes them feel bad and they can rationalize their inability to beat you into not a loss because it says "stalemate", so it's not that they're having fun, it's that they're preventing themselves the frustration of seeing the message saying they lost through mental gymnastics despite the fact that every time they engage they get sent straight to the Royal Remains realm.

I think that you can get a good middle ground between role play and efficiency in Elden Ring. Look at Saint Riot for instance, he makes thematic characters but he's still a brutally efficient player who will swap to the right tool for the job. Hell, even Jee ran around helmetless in previous patches because he thought his toon looked better. I don't think it's gotta be so black and white.
What he means is he will fight the same person over a course of hours and they are using the same meta setup. Personally I go to coliseum and swap weapons almost every match. It’s fun using other stuff but I do try hard during invasions. I have nothing against tryharding I do it as well at times

Personally I wanted to upload videos for Elden Ring, and I suck to be fair 😂 but it’s unbearable, once I beat the DLC I’m dropping the game. Fellow Reds are in cahoots with the hosts trying to kill you, 1st step dueslists start healing and running when they lose and stall for summons, everyone’s max level, and if they’re just PVE’rs they die instantly, and I’ve been chainsawed a good amount of times in the colosseum . This games worse than League of Legends at this point 😂 still love Steel and G9 vids tho but I can’t play it myself anymore

Reacts seem like junk content to me. You can look anywhere and quickly find stupid and uninformed opinions, it's the internet after all. It might be enjoyable to make fun of them for 20 minutes, but you're also giving these people a platform, your platform, however briefly.

Advocating for people to not play optimally in the colloseum and actually giving their all to progress may or may not be a reason for the highest rank to be that easy to achieve over the years.
The argument is litteraly "play casually in the colloseum because the high ranks are not hard to get.", but that's a vicious cycle.
In the end, there's just irony in the fact that when you invade, you get pointed at for "tryharding against PvE'ers", even when you get griefers in Liurna Lake, and get told that you should "just go to the colloseum to tryhard". And then you get people like this.
People just don't like the idea that people can and are willing to put effort in a game when they are not themselves able to.
It's infuriating to see the hypocrisy in believing you should get the same level, the same achievement as someone who puts days training without doing so yourself.
It's a childish mentality to persuade yourself that a given amount of effort can give you more than what you see it actually gives you. These people need to face reality, to understand there is nothing unfair about losing to someone who put more effort than you, and that the amount of effort you put in a game is your choice, not anyone else is involved.
The mentality of these people is simple to understand: Everything they say to cope is underlied by a fundamental insecurity about their sloth. They want to win, but when facing challenge, they say they don't want to put effort instead of saying they don't feel able to put the recquired effort. Everyone wants to be superior to their peers. Everyone wants to win, to be better. But these people cannot withstand the idea that some put the work to back these wishes.

I make the most nonsensical duel builds (Cannon and one-eyed shield soldier named "Unfortunate son", Godfrey axe blossomed garb with jarhead named "Angry Flowerpot" and the likes of those, you get the idea). And in my experience, most tryhards or very tryhard-looking optimized meta builds I faced seemed to actually appreciate the variety of my weird builds. There are toxic guys every once in a while, but that's literally present in all games and usually they were more on the "using broken setups but are actually bad and salty if they lose" style than the actual "tryhards" this guy talks about.

It’s very simple. This person simply cannot comprehend that trying to get good at the game could be fun. When it definitely is fun. Mastering something like hard swapping, is fun. If you couldn’t do something a month ago in the game that you can do now, it’s rewarding and fun. Saying “there are no rewards to winning, therefore why are you trying to win?” is ridiculous logic. They are either coping because they suck at the game or they truly can’t understand how improving and getting better can be fun.
Also, how does a green-skinned player wearing a dress with a wolf head in The Lands Between “make sense”? According to his logic, there must be a “theme” to your character/build that could be seen as plausible in this fantasy world… nothing about his character/build is plausible, “realistic” or “themed” in any comprehensible way. His “logic” is flawed in every point he tries to make.

Scrubs fail to understand that, for most PvPers, tryharding, using the best tools available and doing your best to improve in the game is funnier than emoting and role-playing every encounter you have with other players

If you make a themed build like a character in your headcanon lore and give them a fitting build for their lore, wouldnt it make sense that they'd be using the best stuff they can get their hands on? Like a knight for example, wouldnt they care about having 80+ poise?

About the "it doesnt make sense" comment in video:
Why not throw a side sword like cleanrot on? Thrusting swords were used against heavy armor in medieval times, everbody knew they were good.
If you fight multiple opponents, using a bladed weapon like a zweihander to cover ground was a strategy on the battlefield as well as guarding a place against infiltrators or to bodyguard. So use it to hold the choke point, like a room or tunnel hostage, like a mercenary champion would.
If you want it to be "accurate" or "make it make sense" youre gonna use the good stuff, that everyone would want to use if they could and then you can flavour it any way you want.
We (mostly) didnt use spears irl cause they look cool, we used them cause they work, but if the enemy is too close, you obviously would swap to a side weapon, because thats the intended use. The sword is for when the bow/spear no longer makes sense to use.
Sidetrack:
Why not make a frostlance greatspear knight using cucoo knights set for the jousting vibes. (but also fit the magic since a cucoo knight would probably use that too.) Then try to max poise with gauntlets and legs that look fitting.
Ive just made a cool cuckoo knight idea in like 2 minutes, that can go into any direction you want. You want carian spells and turn it into a traitor/impostor type of vibe? Possible and makes sense.
Name 'em 'The Cuckoo' because Impostor of course. Its even got some lore and a smart name now. My point being: when it comes to making sense, you have a choice in what/whos perspective you want to make sense in.
You dont owe anyone anything. Just like they dont need to understand your clever build. If you do it, do it for yourself. Should they like or understand your idea, then thats great. But its enough if youre having fun.😁

That is why when invading, i don't really enjoy being matched with Bonfire Duelist, and when dueling in colosseum it's less fun to fight someone who is not at their fullest potential

Anyone that has a halberd offstoc build didn’t creatively come up with that set up. The only reason they’re using that set up is because the internet knows it’s meta.
There is absolutely a lack of creativity in builds, when you won’t see 80 percent of weapons ever because everyone gravitates towards what the internet said instead of what they came up with.

Dueling is trash NGL. Elden ring isn’t balanced enough to warrant an enjoyable experience. I’d rather pay a more technical fighter. Invasions are very fun and where I think PVP excels.

Why you want to win?
Arena's would be better imo if you were locked into using whatever's equipped on your person upon entering since you're dueling. No Counterpicking or running away to switch weapons, aow, talismans, armor, etc. Only for arenas, invasions should remain free reign considering you're outnumbered.

6:40 What there is to understand is that the game doesn't revolve around you, you find fun in playing the same meta garbage because it's optimal and other people (ew the scrubs, stupid bad noobs) have fun experimenting. Also on poise, explain to me what the hell is the point of poise when almost every weapon in the game can now stagger? And how a guy using a great axe or hammer gets less hyper armor and can no longer trade with someone using a longsword? Lightrolling and mindlessly spamming attacks staggering someone to death due to poise becoming completely irrelevant thanks to pvp clowns making stupid suggestions, Is that what you consider skill? Changes wich btw also affect pve, but why the f should we ever take that into account when all it matters is that Fromsoft molds the game around the hardcore pvpers.
Pre-patch 1.10 you used to count poise before initiating first attack, now you count poise after backswings.
To bring an example - if you hit someone with backswing of 2h Shamshir you're about to deal 87.75 poise damage, which opens you to opportunity to swap to star fists and true combo with running attack as long as they had
@@Steelovsky Hyper armor got giga buff. I know it did i agree, they gave most weapons stupid amounts of hyper armor, even the ones that didn't needed it. And all the slow weapons that already sucked to begin with got fk'd in the process.
