In 2d, there are regular and irregular shapes,
some regular shapes are the famous, equilateral triangle, the square, the regular pentagon, the regular hexagon, the regular heptagon, the regular octagon and so on
the thing that makes them regular is the fact that, every side has the same length and that they are convex (you can drew straight line between two points in a shape and it will still be in the shape)
In 3d, there are only 5 regular shapes, the regular tetrahedron (triangle base pyramid), the cube, the regular octahedron, the regular icosahedron and the regular dodecahedron. A 3d shape is regular if, Their vortexes are same, Their edges are the same, their faces have the same and they are convex.
no where in life would you ever need this information.
