You have shown some great cars on My Car Story, but this one is the most incredible. Unbelievable! A fantasy come to life! The styling. The workmanship. The overall quality of this car is truly amazing. I would hate to know how much it cost to build, but I am sure that winning the Riddler Award made it well worth it for them. By the way Lou, did you notice how the medallion in the center of the steering wheel mimics the design of the wheels? Too cool. Olds Cool 😊
Cool build. Looks like something Flash Gordon would have driven. But, I'd be apprehensive about altering the last of any model built. It wouldn't be a problem, if a fully restored example was sitting in a museum somewhere

Wow. This car is so damn nice. I can't believe that such a car could possibly exist out side of some guys fantacy dream. But is does and here it is in all of its splendor and beauty. Nice, the last remaining ‘39 Olds 60 convertible in existence survived for almost 80 years in beautiful original condition, just to be turned into a typical clownish boomer streetrod. Another home run from the generation that put linoleum over hardwood floors. The wife thought it was ugly in originality? I bet her most tasteful possession is a velvet Elvis portrait.

Hi Richard, Not sure on your build question, and since it was up on blocks, he was not going to attempt to start it. So I did what I could, with what I had, in the time I had, and this video is the end result, Lou
Hi Charles, Glad we agree a fantastic car :-) Let me help you with math & economics. You're total videos have 2400 views. This 1 video has 46K views. That would mean my terrible video is 19 times better then all of your videos. Stay well, Lou
Of all the human activities that deal with historical artifacts, old cars are the only ones in which it is considered O.K. to bastardize and ultimately thereby destroy the original. The whole idea of artifacts is to PRESERVE IN ORIGINAL FORM what our ancestors created and thereby to honor our ancestors who made them. A piece of junk like this is just a symbol of the vulgarity of the owner who thinks that he can improve on the original. Imagine someone buying a Victoria house and putting aluminum siding on it or, why now paint King Tut's sarcophagus pink ? Disgusting !!!
John, we share the same feelings. You know, for the most part, I'm ok with doing what one will with a car, if it's common enough. But, the last surviving 60 series Olds? Are we for real right now??? You'd think that doing a basic restoration would have been in order but no, this car isn't anything NEAR what it was when purchased from that poor old man who wanted to keep it and preserve it. Made sure it went to a good home and, well sad to say, he was fooled. It's not a '39 Olds, it has a '38 Grill.. Sort of. Man, this pisses me off. So, no more TRUE 60 Series left in the world I guess.
I don' get it. Since when does the fact that practice is `common enough' make it right. I guess that my criticism wasn't harsh enough so I'll add the following. People who collect old things generally have a curiosity about them and a reverence for the craftsmanship that produced them. Watch `Antiques Roadshow' to see what I mean. But for too many people that collect old cars this seems to be missing. The unquestioned destruction of historical artifacts suggests that not only do they lack those virtues but that they are vain enough to think that they can improve the artifact by altering it. But in fact it always simply ruins the original. Look at all those classics that have been lowered and lengthened ; the bastardizer thinks it makes them look cool but in fact they simply look ridiculous. The people who originally designed those cars had what the Scottish Aesthetic Philosophers termed `taste' in art;l the proportions of elements in their designs were perfectly balanced.. The people who fail to recognize that and change them are simply ignorant vulgarians.
Theirs always one of a kind, & Then theirs this beautiful masterpiece,
She will be copied, But never Equalled!
