17:00 Haha! Yes, I totally remember that ramen place down the back of that little alleyway! I was actually thinking about it the other day. I didn't know it already came with a whole egg and we ordered an extra one! And do you remember the Ramen Museum in Yokohama? I actually just went there again recently too.👍
Ken, after a long and exhausting day of work, I’m grateful to sit on my couch and watch you eat food in your van. It’s a brain dump for me. Helps me relax and go to bed. Thank you 🙏
Ken, thank you very much! That’s very kind of you. So, it’s confession time. I tried to find Telagram (not sure what that is), but no luck. I’ve got to get back to sermon prep., answering emails, texts, and since I’m a priest/pastor, I never know who’s going to knock at my door wanting to unburden themselves. There’s no one knocking at the moment so I’d better get busy on my sermon prep. I’d love to receive your appreciation package, nonetheless. I just don’t know how to get you the information you need. May the LORD continue to bless you and your family.
Yes, drinking straight from the bowl is common, especially when you're eating inside the shop. It's a waste of time trying to slurp your soup one tablespoon at a time.
So glad you went back and enjoyed Kenzos! I always get Gyozas. I can almost taste them watching you eat them. Next time you go I highly recommend the Tonkotsu Ramen of you don't want spicy. It's incredible and my go to.
That freaked me out a bit whenI saw your food moving, then realized it was the heat, lolol Loved this, cool vid, Ken! Hope Carol and the fam are good! Oh, saw Paul on Global news for a few seconds. Have a good one! 😃😎
Takoyaki is one of my favorite Japanese appetizers, it's soft, a little creamy on the inside, and the chewyness of the octopus adds a nice texture alongside the bonito flakes.
You should check out this place in Port Parry Ontario Ken, it's called "Hank's Pastries" and they have one of the best breakfast I've ever had... would make great spot for 24hr stealth camp, taste test the menu/bakery items
Ken, when I saw that plate moving, I thought it was because there was a kooty in it! I was so relieved when you explain that it was because of the heat! Whew!! I've decided I'm having ramen for dinner tonight! The only things I recognized on your plate were the noodles, the pork and the bok choy. But it all looks so very delicious. I've never been to a ramen house. I just buy the little packets of ramen noodles from the grocery store and spice them up when I'm cooking them.
@@indochinajames3372 A kooty is like a little nasty thing, like a bug or a worm. The kids call them "kooty." Like for instance someone might say, I don't like Freddy because he's got kooties, meaning he has lice in his hair or something disgusting like that.
Nice to know that Canadian Japanese food is just as expensive as it is in Perth Australia. I love the food, but the price is just too high, especially when the youtubers I watch that live in Japan get it all so cheap. Love your videos Ken, can't wait to see your next one
different cultures. Would you balk at paying that much for pasta from an Italian restaurant? Japan has a culture where Ramen is priced below where it should be. Overall you are getting a better deal than if you hit an equivalent Italian place. In France independent bakers are all going out of business b/c electricity is so expensive and the would need to charge 2-3 euros for a banquette and they can't compete with the big box grocery stores that in their economy of scale can still charge 1 euro. Just because something is more expensive than what it is in the home country doesn't mean that you are getting ripped off. If you treat this kind of food this cheaply than you should be able to make it home easily and far more cheaply.
@kbdproductions is it really that stinky? From that kind of description I would assume that it must a horrible restaurant. There are so many other ways to describe things. Raclette that is absolutely stinky but it's delicious. For liking the food, I've never heard you describe other places in this way that seems so insulting. Also, Takoyaki is not typically deep fried. Its typically cooked in a pan that has cups and you spin each ball in it's little cups.
Hey Ken. Love the videos. Not sure if you’re using the new dji cam you recently got but I feel like it’s not as clear as the old set up. Anywho, Keep up the good work buddy
My usual place here in Seattle is Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya (apparently a Japanese chain w/ west coast US locations). I alternate between their garlic tonkotsu and spicy pork ramen (w/ extra egg, of course). And takoyaki or prawn cutlet as a side.
@@TheMasterchef123 I think I tried them several years ago (they didn't even do takeout/delivery then because only dine-in could provide the proper experience). Good, but I think only shoyu and miso ramens, which aren't my favorites. I think I used a whole 'vial' of togarashi to try spicing it up. :-)
That's a lot of plastic for one meal. Single use plastics have had their time and even if there are recyclable and recycling systems available they're expensive and still leave waste. Many states here have banned single use plastic for takeaway , waxed paper containers and wooden utensils are the go or as in someplaces take your one containers and cutlery.
May I be honest? Damn expensive!! How dare to ask this price for some basic Japanese food. I live in Thailand. When I go here for the same dish I pay less then half you paid for.
Great video as always Ken 🍻 If my food started moving I think I might have to go Hulk smash on it 😀 great job on the Ramen transfer very nice presentation 🍻
I've never tried ramen, those prices were extortionate ha. Aw was hoping you would get a dessert, like those red bean pastry cakes. I don't know what they are called, dry but delicious
All this food looks so good I'll be honest I'm too scared to try octopus especially if I see it alive first like when I go to the Asian supermarket you can see them all wiggling around in a big tray and that just freaks me out too much it's different with fish I don't know it's all their legs that kind of weird me out. But if I would have saw my food moving I would have been done right there Your brave fellow LOL even though I know it's just cuz of the heat it still would have freaked me out LOL. Food all did look really good though I would definitely try it except the octopus 😂

Such a yummy video.. I've always wanted to try ramen from a restaurant & there's a Kenzo's downtown Oshawa. I will definitely be trying the regular order of shoyu with 6 pc gyoza on the side!
Also Ken whenever you come to the states again drop by Missouri we have great pizza from a place called Imo's they also have toasted raviolis that are to die for they got a lot of really good stuff. Also you got to try gooey butter cake it's a really delicious dessert there's nothing like it. We also have a gas station name QuikTrip similar name and also similar kind of food to the other quik trip, they have amazing pizza and delicious sandwiches and a variety of different grilled cheeses! Just a suggestion!

Great video as always!! Japanese food it's on my top 3! (It's Argentinean, Jewish and Japanese! ) I love those dishes, but one of my favorites it's okonomiyaki! Also Ken, I understand that japanese don't drink the whole broth, because is full of grease and sodium from the soy sauce.
Good looking ramen there, and very nice looking appetizers too. But very pricey, that’s almost Finland-level. It better be good for that price. Haven’t seen yakotaki anywhere here though.
don’t have have a raman house ah nuts have to ask my brother about our Japanese sushi 🍱 if they have ramen noodles 🍜 stores it’s hard to find if they do tear it up.
What the heck is octopus cheese? I mean, they're not mammals. They don't produce milk. I'm going to have to Google this. Or maybe it was octopus AND cheese? That makes more sense.
now this is the Japanese Food that i'm interested in, not about the Sushi life, cold raw fish just doesnt float my boat mentally. dont get me wrong i'd try it, but mentally it's not a hurdle, it's a wall, not used to eating raw things.
