    Honestly this was such a cute interview!!! Stephen was totally into it! He was geeking out as a fan, dropping trivia, and engrossed by Annette's story. I love when Stephen is like this with his guests 😊

      Miles, It could work sure, but Annette Bening wasn't the President in The American President. Hence the statement about Michael Douglas. Plus if you were replying to Kelly Waters, it's possible Kelly is female so nothing chauvinistic about it.

    Ann is 59, would like to know what "other things" she studied in college before she got serious and "did she try to make every part a big part"? I guess that was a NO ... she was making each other laugh and having a good time - assuming. And I'm sure there are personal outtakes. She is elegant but I can see that she is there primarily to promote the film and not really about the unknown details about her life. She just wants to do her job and stay outta' the limelight.

    Stephen is right, there ARE great white sharks out there, but maybe the particular dive spots were chosen because they weren't places where great whites tended to be, since great whites do tend to have favorite hunting grounds, like the Farallones

    • @MrDragon1968
      @MrDragon1968 6 лет назад +1

      He's kind of doing the hyperbolic scary shark thing though. The likelihood of a scuba diver being attacked by a shark is fairly minimal (though it does happen), even in areas where there known to be more dangerous types of sharks. That said there are times or certain places you have to be careful.

    • @dapeach06
      @dapeach06 6 лет назад

      MrDragon1968 that is true as well, I have been on many Dives and snorkels with sharks, and respect them but don't overly fear them. And I have seen a lot of footage of divers and snorkelers going right up to Great Whites, tiger sharks, etc and nothing happens, so long as the shark wasn't lured in with Chum or other things that they do for cage Dives. But I don't think Stephen was being hyperbolic, though he was painting them as a threat

    • @MrDragon1968
      @MrDragon1968 6 лет назад +1

      Back in the 90's I worked on a live-aboard dive boat in Aus for a few months (doing 3 day dive trips out to the Coral Sea- beyond the Barrier Reef). We used to do an open water shark feed for the divers as part of schedule. In this case we were using chum and the divers weren't in a cage. Once we were down there I had to tuck a load of chopped up fish bits under my arms, quickly fin with them to a specified area in front of the other divers, drop them, and then watch the sharks all pile in! Then repeat about 6-7 times. A bit dodgy - not sure if they allow you to do it now - but a great experience and I learnt a fair bit about shark behaviour. It was mostly Bronze Whalers and Whitetip reef sharks, so reasonably safe. That said, we did have a slightly aggressive cheeky Hammerhead turn up one day.
      I probably wouldn't do all that with Great Whites or Tigers though ;-)

    • @dapeach06
      @dapeach06 6 лет назад +1

      MrDragon1968 I have only been on a shark dive with a commercial outfit once, rather than while doing research or just on my own, but during that one trip, it was a dive Charter in the Bahamas, and they brought down a frozen block of fish in an area where the Sharks knew that dive boats came around every so often, and as the fish defrosted, the Sharks came over at to it and started feeding, while the divers all stayed still on the bottom and watched

    • @dapeach06
      @dapeach06 6 лет назад +1

      Every other time that I've been with sharks in the wild, they've just been swimming and minding their own business, and we left them alone

    "They didn't tell you, but there are Great White sharks, out there."
    That may be, but Great White sharks are not the voracious, unstoppable predators that Hollywood has a vested interest in portraying them to be. Stories about people being attacked by sharks of _any_ species are so extraordinary precisely _because_ they are so _rare._ Sharks are adapted to feeding on _aquatic_ animals, after all.
