Nah the switch saved nintendo from irrelevance but they still need to make a proper home console with modern specs that stand up to Playstation to truly compete but they won't do that because they never done it. Their whole strategy has always been to release a nintendo console just good enough that people will still flock to buy it but bad enough that it's not directly competing with the superior consoles. Not Microsoft's competition. I miss Sega. I mean it's hard to even get excited for games when they buy Ninja Theory and make Hellblade 2 Xbox/PC only, or Elderscrolls 6 not on Playstation. I'll just wait until the next steamdeck comes out and pirate the crap, but I would much rather play it on my PS5. Though with Bethesda it's gonna be probably the 3rd generation steamdeck, and the game will be buggy as crap because they cut out 6 million sales on Playstation, and then gave it away to 25 million people, so I don't know how buggy a game is going to be that takes 10 years to develop, from a company that is janky with programming, and has no possible ability to be profitable, because the whole friggin point is literally just to sell monthly subs, oh and they're also giving out another 5 first party games that cost 100s of millions to produce, and making them exclusive, and giving those out to 25 million people. The business model doesn't work. That's why they want 120 million subscribers (not gonna happen that's a bit over half of Spotify's subscribers FFS) Even at 50 million subscribers paying $17 a month they can't make the Activision Blizzard aquisition profitable through Gamepass subs for 10 years, and that would have to be on top of the 25 million they already have. 4 years is how much they need at 125 million subscribers, but that's not taking into account other aquisitions and pay outs to all the different publishers to license the game for Gamepass. And that's 17 for ultimate, that's their most expensive, and monthly. If you buy annually the numbers are worse. At 35-50 million I imagine they have no choice but to just be "Games as a Service" provider other than the fact that this is all a giant tax write off game.

People are getting sick of subscription services. I cancelled all of mine. It’s just a way for these companies to trick you into letting them drain your bank account every month.
@landontv1671 We know that. The pro is that you'll decide what you want to download/purchase & own it indefinitely, while the con is that you spend more (as you mentioned earlier) & you might be disappointed by your purchase if it doesn't live up to the hype, whereas in a sub service, you simply quit mid-game & play/download another within that same month at no extra cost, since your subscription is still active. This can even allow you to test multiple games, until you find the "hidden gems" you like. Of course, you won't own any of them & will be subject to availability of those games due to license agreements or disputes. You can merge both - subscribe to find the ones you like by playing as many as you can for a while (an hour each?), then proceed to buy & own those few you actually like & cancel your subscription for the subsequent months to enjoy your purchase
I don't blame you, it is only good value if you play all the games they release on there. And if you like to purchase the games you enjoy, the value is significantly lessened. When you run out of tricks to use and you are hit with the reality that you are looking at 50 bucks a month or 400 dollars a year to maintain 2 console subscription services, it doesn't seem worth it. At that point it leaves the base tiers that are required to play online, assuming the person doesn't have a PC that they play online with instead. Sony increasing their price for premium which is really bad value, has really shined a light on how expensive they are. You have to be a certain kind of person to really get the most out of these services, you have to basically want to consume as much content as possible without a care to revisit it at a later date.

@StoneXue they only shuffle games that are not making hits well. Most big games are still there for years. And when they do go, it's so cheap. Are you complaining about paying for a game you want to own even though you've played multiple times in Gamepass? Also, you don't pay for one game you're paying for multiple games. As a playstation fanboy I hope Microsoft's Xbox thrives. If playstation is left alone with no serious competition, Sony will be complacent and anti consumer. Competition is good.
That's why they want 120 million subscribers (not gonna happen that's a bit over half of Spotify's subscribers FFS)
Even at 50 million subscribers paying $17 a month they can't make the Activision Blizzard aquisition profitable through Gamepass subs for 10 years, and that would have to be on top of the 25 million they already have.
Xbox pc doesnt have games i own. Ill never go bacl to my xbox. I have to buy all my games again.

@@landontv1671don’t care, I’m still rocking that free ps3 online services 🗣🗣🗣
@landontv1671
We know that.
Xbox has always charged to play online, but it was a straightforward simple affordable system.

Retro consoles where just better and more fun. Modern consoles are only better in graphics, but they lack everything else that we enjoyed from the 90s and early 2000s video games. We use to be able to play games for years and not get bored, while modern games you play one time and be done with it.
Plus you have to install, update, get patches, and pay for extra content rather than unlocking stuff in the game. No split screen to play with family and friends, everything is online. Modern games are just remasters of the same game, while older consoles had a variety of different games to choose from.
