Harimau juga kadang memakan/membunuh anaknya, kucing juga. Kebanyakan hewan karnivora dalam kasus tertentu akan membunuh anaknya.

There's plenty of insects to go around,shortage of food I would think was not an issue.it seems as if they are in a planted field of something,not sure.But yeah plenty of insects for those birds to eat.its not like they go diving in eater for fish like eagles do
It is a palm plantation. These birds typically only have 2 chicks per brood, so the fact that there is a 3rd chick is unusual. Brood reduction is something that is practiced by birds and can be for a number of reasons. Sometime why something like this is done doesn’t follow our reasoning and is beyond our knowledge.

I wonder if there was some sort of sickness (bacterial? Viral?).
The reason I say this is because once mom removed one chick, she not only fed this chick to the rest of her brood (well, one of the chicks, anyway), but with only two chicks left to feed, there should be more food available. Once this occurs, the remaining chicks usually become livelier...they display greater energy...their physical growth & development advances more rapidly, etc.
However, that is not what appeared to happen, especially with regard to the chick in the back of the nest. When brother chick was removed by mom, both chicks seemed to have the same health level. Seemingly, from the moment it went from three chicks down to two, the one chick looked as if he had completely shut down...he lacked energy...he showed no attempt to compete for food...and became almost silent. It appeared as if this chick became sick, and that it advanced quite quickly (purely speculation on my part).
Toward the end, mom was starting to give him the evil eye. I thought for sure that he was about to get the 'beak' (the 'beak' is essentially removal from nest...mercy killed by mom...and then ripped apart for the purposes of being fed to the remaining chick(s)).
Well, that is what we call 'survival of the fitest'. Looks like the sick cub was 'removed' from the nest in order to get a clean home for the remaining little birds.
And unfortunately, the way it died really was horrible and ended in its siblings stomach..
That's how the nature works..

These birds usually only have two eggs a brood, so it was already strange there were 3 chicks in this nest. There could have been something wrong with it or perhaps not enough food for all of them. I think the parent bird intended to grab the one up in front because it kept making noise and couldn’t figuring out what direction it needed to face in order to get fed…an indication that there maybe something wrong with it, and it grabbed the chick in the middle instead.
Either way the bird isn’t “evil” or “sadistic”, those are self created human concepts. Other animals don’t think like human or follow their rules. They live by instinct and the laws of nature.

You're totally right. I was thinking the same. The chick that was removed wasn't making noise at all, it should have been the one in the front.
If something does not fit with the natural order, with the natural state, then it must be discarded as quickly as possible. Where there is love and compassion, there is corruption, there is decay.
