Basically, since there haven't been many morally conservative counter-movements in the past outside of armed rebellions or elected governments, they use military footage. There are peaceful conservative movements nowadays, but they're hardly given good press. The country was also poor because of the wall and basically everything was just bad. It was even a common thing for houses to be just bugged and you couldnt talk about sensitive topics without consequences. You couldnt even show your opinion about the system to the public.

Basically, since there haven't been many morally conservative counter-movements in the past outside of armed rebellions or elected governments, they use military footage. There are peaceful conservative movements nowadays, but they're hardly given good press.
Also since we're talking about a communist nation, civilian life wasn't too appealing and it was hardly ever recorded. Hard times create strong men, but never good memories.
I think when they both merged they should have brought and adapted more of the comunist ideology and cultre to a degree and we might not have ended up with this mess

Bro the DDR was basically hell for the Germans. Im a German and im honestly just pissed how some dudes promote it. Everything was in strict order, there was almost no freedom. You couldnt even leave the country. The soviets were assholes to the Germans and sometimes even just took their belongings cause they can. The Germans were treated poorly and rations were low. The country was also poor because of the wall and basically everything was just bad. It was even a common thing for houses to be just bugged and you couldnt talk about sensitive topics without consequences. You couldnt even show your opinion about the system to the public.
