I will buy this just for the Gary Chalk illustrations...
Yeah, that was a childhood dream realised! I loved his art for Lone Wolf and Warhammer, so it was amazing to have him illustrate the game.
Nice look at the book. Im loveing playing with the 1.5 rule book at the mo and will be grabing this book as soon as I jey a chance!!!
Cheers Jo! :)
Great video we have just started playing this...
Found a typo at 14:14. The marmot has d5 block.
Well spotted! That's annoying though... I've checked my original draft, and it should be d4. Curse you, Editors! :(
Wow, they nerfed raccoons and buffed almost everybody’s block. The den mechanic seems cool, beautiful artwork too. I guess I’m just salty that raccoons are no longer viable ranged leaders.
I can't see where we've changed raccoons TBH - we had them briefly at d8 ranged for a month or so during playtesting, but the stat line has been as it is in the book for pretty much the whole time otherwise...?
Buffing the Block stats was weirdly a way to make them slightly worse! With so many d4s, a lot of Block rolls were getting Perfect Rolls, and it was slowing down combat. A buff to d6 actually reduces the reliance on luck, and just improved the play experience. At least, it did for us! :)
Oathsworn Miniatures That's fair. I wasn't part of the playtesting process, I've just been playing 1 and 1.5 for the last year and a half. I understand the logic of buffing d4's to nerf the critical success chance. I suppose It's just a matter of personal preference since I run a warband led by a raccoon with double shot. I suppose I'm just a little salty about (for me) the raccoons ranged going from tied for the best in the game to the same as most other animals. I do appreciate all the time and effort you've put into Burrows and Badgers and I look forward to playing 2nd edition!
Edit: I'm sure you've already thought of this but what do you think of the idea of reworking the perfect rolls like so: If you roll the highest # on a dice, you generate a perfect roll threat (like in d&d and pathfinder). Once the threat is generated, you have either have to reroll the same dice and get a high enough result to beat the opponents roll (If you don't, It's still a hit) or after generating a threat, you roll a d20 and you have to get a certain amount or higher depending on what weapon your using, your nimbleness possibly, crit poison and certain skills. Alternatively a threat that fails to confirm could add a +3 buns instead of 7. This does complicate the game into something it isn't and I can appreciate sticking to the core of the game, these are just ideas.
Where are those minis from?

Sigh... have you actually played Frostgrave?
The winning roll is compared to ARMOR (set number) to determine damage, NOT the losing roll. It's essentially compressing the hit roll with a linear 1d10 damage roll (all the armor values are 10 or more).
Yeah, not _quite_ the same thing but a fairly close approximation that eliminates one die roll. Pretty nice design IMHO.
