I modify Foote 3 speeds for horizontal input with some good success and I have an old vid of it.. its totally doable without machine tools but not gonna be holding much more than 20 hp reliably.. I built one for a friend's built vtwin off-road golf cart project.. 4 forward speeds all chain drive inside and with machined billet steel shift dogs and external support bearings basically only using the stock case and shift mechanism... The reason I do it is because it's a dogbox and they love being shifted on the fly.. my homemade quad has had one one with stock internals for years of abuse now.. it has a new highly modded 212 which definitely makes 20hp now and it's still holding up so the potential is definitely there
That's awesome bro. Do you have any footage or pics of the internals of the fully built transmission you done? I've saved your old vid on the 3 speed with stock internals but would like to make one that would handle some serious power.
@@johnakroyd115 I don't have anything on it rn but next time my buddy breaks the golf kart or he asks me to change out the chain guides I'll try to get some video... We built it at his house I had some pics on an old phone but that's long gone...
Recently a friend was cleaning out and loveing..have me a couple boxes of parts..alot of ohv briggs heads..carbs..but in the other a weird trans I had no idea until now..its a Foote 350..not sure if I'm going to use it just yet..thanks for great info..and another heartbreak..a nice 46cu opposed head..but no match..its a #2..
