Dude, I love you... I want you to know that, right? I'm subscribed... But you RUclipsrs seriously need to stop asking for likes and subscriptions from newcomers at the beginning of your videos.
First, we'll see what you present, in your presentation.
Then, we'll decide whether or not you are worthy of our attention or approval.
I swear, man... You're all like car salesmen who want me to buy the vehicle before I've driven it, or even seen its condition.
"You wanna buy a house...? I got a house you can buy! Don't worry about seeing it or taking a tour through it, just buy it without any of that necessary information - you'll love it, I promise!"
      STOP.
WE DECIDE THESE THINGS, NOT YOU.
      STOP IT NOW.
Would you buy a house you've never seen, Kristian?
      Ever?
      No?
      Then stop.
You think this is free for me?
The last time I checked, I pay my own attention, and that's a payment made. So show me what you're selling so that I can decide - for myself - whether or not I want to make that purchase.
      (1:01)
"So... Let's watch the trailer, see how we like it, see if we can learn a little bit of the characters, and we can talk about it after it's over."
So, let me get this straight...
You're not just gonna automatically subscribe to The Acolyte without checking it out first?
      Open your eyes.
      Thank you.
      (2:58)
"Yeah, I don't know yet. I don't know, I still feel the same way I did after the first one."
So after two trailers, you're still undecided on whether or not you want to subscribe to that channel. That's what you're telling me. But what if they asked you to go ahead and like and subscribe to The Acolyte before you saw either one of those trailers? If you're undecided after seeing two of them, then what were you before then?
STOP ASKING FOR LIKES AND SUBSCRIBES BEFORE ANYONE HAS EVEN HAD THE CHANCE TO SEE WHAT EXACTLY IT IS THAT YOU CAN OFFER TO THEM.
      I'll put it this way...
I'm more onboard with The Acolyte than I am with Kristian Harloff; at the least The Acolyte knows what it wants to be, and can make an actual decision for itself.
      I'll subscribe to that.

It’s definitely a much better trailer, but given the fact that this show is a mystery crime thriller I really do not know how much I blame them for not really showing off too much but at the same time I feel like the quality of the trailer itself in the way it’s cut is what hinders some excitement that you might have. This could be a case where the actual show is better than the trailers.

Trailers that don't give away too much are good signs to me. I don't care about a good trailer I want an epic show. It doesn't seem like too many in the Star Wars community are excited about this show. I'll be honest, I'm not. Think about what happens when our expectations are too high. Many of us get let down. I'll name two Disney era Star Wars projects where expectations were low. Rogue One and Andor. Both were masterpieces. Acolyte is 50/50. It can go either way. It's a step into the unknown.

If anyone cares, I can share my fan theory here; I just don't want to write a multi-paragraph comment if no one reads it. lol.

    • @jeffersonadams8711
      @jeffersonadams8711 4 месяца назад +1

@@jaxsonburch-eo1vz This is just speculation, but I believe it's a character from the EU who went by the name of SET HARTH. He was a human Dark Jedi who lived 1,000 years before Darth Vader. Set Harth had 2 "special combat abilities" that resemble what we see briefly at the end of the first _Acolyte_ trailer:
      (1) He could throw his light saber like a boomerang, which was almost impossible for even skilled Jedi/Sith to dodge
      And
      (2) he could use a powerful "force blast" to push his foe(s) back several meters.
Both of these abilities are described in the third novel of the _Darth Bane_ trilogy series.
Now, as to the question of how Set Harth is still alive: At the end of the third _Darth Bane_ novel, Set Harth comes into possession of a Sith holocron which contains knowledge of the ritual of ESSENSE TRANSFER, which potentially allows him to move his consciousness (and force abilities, I presume) into new bodies. As we know, the only other person in Star Wars with this ability is Darth Sidious. So it's possible Set Harth has been "jumping" from body to body in secret for 1,000 years. So if it is him in The Acolyte, he may have a new body and identity (he may not even be human, or male).
But it explains how Darth Plagueis and Sidious gained the ability of essense transfer: Plaguies encounters Set Harth somehow, and got the ability from him (maybe Set gave him the holocron?).
Also, it being Set Harth prevents a plot hole from emerging: the Jedi still think the Sith are extinct during the time of The Acolyte. Well, Set Harth technically was never a Sith; he was a Dark Jedi. But he does have a connection to the Sith, as he was briefly an apprentice to a Sith named Darth Zannah (she was Darth Bane's apprentice).
As I said, 99% of this is taken from the final Darth Bane novel, called "Dynasty of Evil". We'll find out for sure when this show premiers.
PS - The showrunners did say some of The Acolyte's storyline will tie in to the EU, and Set Harth is part of the EU.

"A small part, of a larger plan. Some sort of shift, to tip the scales " basically sums up this whole show probably
The Jedi don't recognize a Sith, because they've been "extinct" for 900 years almost, thou we know better
This Sith is likely Darth Tenebronus, the master of Darth Plageuis which eventually leads to Emperor Palpatine. It could be Tenebronus' master. Has to be one of these guys since it's only 100 years before Phantom Menace
So this show basically shows the super beginning beginning motions that lead to the Skywalker Saga eventually. This is just what I'm getting from all the puzzle pieces we have, so I obviously could be dead wrong lol

I'll copy/paste my response to this from Rocha's reaction and it's a bit lengthy, but here goes:
I'm usually an optimist and I'll look forward to just about any new series/movie, but this feels like 'yet another' Jedi fails/gets blindsided story. Which is what the PT was, which is the narrative of the ST where Luke claims that the legacy of the Jedi was failure (nevermind that they supposedly administered the galaxy in peace for tends of thousands of years even as Palps' Empire lasted... ~20? years). In the same way, I got kinda tired with the new Trek trying to be gritty and 'darker', the antithesis of why I came to like a series like Trek which were aspirational and different from the 'same old, same old, let's make it grittier, let's make it darker' trend of just about everything else.
Don't get me wrong, there's an emo edgelord in these old bones that enjoys series like GOT or Walking Dead or the modern incarnations of Batman... But, when are we going to see the Jedi in their supposed full glory, being the shiny beacons they supposedly were? B/c, all the stuff we see now, is how the Jedi fail or the Jedi are blind/get blindsided (almost always be a Dark Side user). As much as I love The Clone Wars animation (breaks into my top3 of any/all SW properties on any given day and made Ahsoka my new favorite SW character), that was about the failure of the jedi and the Council not trusting Ahsoka and her breaking away (though not the only thing about the story), the prequel trilogy explicitly mentions how the Jedi's numbers are dwindling and how they cannot see through Palpatine's machinations. The sequel trilogy ends with the Skywalker bloodline dying out and the Palpatine bloodline continuing (though Rey claims to be a Skywalker and I know that's sort ofa commentary on found family). In all of these, the Jedi are duped, driven to extinction (Ep IV, Ep IX, maybe Acolyte?) or near it or they're failures (again, Ep IV, VIII, IX, TCW, PT, etc).
It also feels like a sort of unconscious desperation in terms of writing b/c you're simply catering to the 'I simply want more dark and angsty' and b/c it's easier to write failure than it is to write a more idyllic, aspirational person, group or society. It's why we see more of the 'darker' stuff than the lighter stuff. It's why Superman doesn't quite seem to have hit the mark since the Donner movies (even as Man of Steel has its fans) and why Captain American in the MCU working as well as it did was a refreshing change even as he wasn't flawless. Kirk and Picard aren't flawless, but each hold up a sort of refreshing goodness that's sorely lacking in a lot of the modern stuff I see.
I don't want everything to be TOS or Superman, but the problem I've been having with Star Wars, more and more, is that they tell us how great the Jedi were in their supposed heyday, but we never get to see that. It's always talked about how glorious and powerful the Jedi were at their peak, but they keep not showing us those stories. We keep seeing stories after they're purged and nearly extinct. We keep seeing how they get fooled by an external source and the stories tend to be "But, hope is just around the next corner or over that horizon" and that's fine when you're talking about a period just after Sidious takes over or during the purge of the Jedi or with shows like Andor that show the banality of evil. But, time and again, it feels like that's all SW has to offer these days whether individual movies/series pull it off well or not is a different story, but the song remains the same. And I hate to say it, but this feels that way, too. I know it's been brought up in TPM that the Jedi haven't seen a Sith in a thousand years or whatever and the argument is, well, if this Sith or Dark Side Force user (does it really matter, it's a bad guy wielding a red light saber and we all know what that means) wipes out this group of Jedi or all the ones that know of his/her existence, it will be like the Sith weren't around for a thousand years to the rest.
But, then, we're playing the same game, again, right? Jedi, being blind sided by the Dark Side of the force that 'no one saw coming'. I know you and Rocha tend to like the darker stuff and I like it in specific stories, but I just don't know. Maybe I'll be wrong and I'll love the hell out of it, but we'll see.

I think the trailer looks promising. And couldn’t the ”fact” that the Sith haven’t been seen in a 1 000 years be explained with the few Jedi that know covering the whole thing up by the end because the truth is deemed too troubling or dangerous in their mind? Or to not embolden others to question their ”rule”, stricken from the records? We did learn that just because something isn’t in the Jedi archives it very well could exist.

Kristian... I've been excited about this show for a long time, but the longer the wait has been going on the more cautious I've been about getting excited. The trailer looks good. But at the same time it sounds like they (Disney/Filoni/whoever) aren't paying attention to what we fans want, which are longer episodes, which allow more time for story and character development. I want this to be good so bad, but most of their shows have gotten close to that line and ultimately always seem to pull back and just play it too safe.
