Chiaroscuro- Shading and Value for Beginners

This is a video demonstrating shading using Chiaroscuro- using all the values to create light, dark, and volume of an object using drawing pencils. You will create a ten step value scale and learn the parts of a shadow like direct light- highlight and light, and indirect light- shadow, core of shadow, reflected light, and cast shadow. You will learn how to blend areas of value together on objects to create the illusion of 3 dimensionality. This is a practice exercise to demonstrate the technique of chiaroscuro and shading. You can draw along with the video, or draw your own object.
