- We’re flattered whenever we see any kind of influence in builds, based on some of the things we’ve done. But a Chevy squarebody van build inspired by the Burnyard, WITH spares in the back for burnouts!? Man… that’s just the best thing ever. The Squarebody Syndicate does things right.

That outro beat...be banging though🤙🏾🤟🏾
Actually watched this on my " good " monitor. I need t do that every time I see Larry Chen's name. Because between the lovely job the fellow did, and such crisp, clear pictures and video, a ratty old work van is super cool. And for me, the burnout part is the least important. Really nice work there. Very tasteful.
* Main monitor is 3440 x 1440 10 bit colour and worth 5 times what my 1080p 8 but colour monitor is. Really makes a huge difference on videos where the photography quality is high. See part about Larry Chen. How dafuq do you get running video inside a damn VAN with it looking all nicely lit? Every vehicle interior pic I ever took had a car or truck shaped object with a black hole in the middle. :)
This needs to do a This v. That with the Hoonigan Merch Truck!
That's a great idea, and would probably be a good close race.
#hellyeahbrother
What's merch?
Wicked call Bro 🇦🇺🤝🇺🇸👍🚦🏁
Make it a 3 way race and throw in the Summit Freedom Delivery Van
When the ride looks like the owner everything feels right with the universe.
Got a 74 same color that I’m almost done swapping in a 5.3 ls into. Every time I see this van it heightens my motivation.
Hi. I put a 5.3 lm7 with the th350 transmission. Yes I used the fuel injection from the lm7 and put in new fuels lines, fuel pump, sending unit, gas tank. I used spectra sp1115 for the fuel pump and bought the tank, sending unit, for a 93 van being that it had fuel injection. If you want more info leave your email.
I see this van almost everyday in phoenix and i love it even before i know square body syndicate and now i know whats actually gone into it i love it even more absolutely beautiful and ridiculous
This is one of the coolest vans I have ever seen.
My dad drove one of these for 30 years. Still has it. Exact year.
Does he live in MI? I see em often here. 👀
"Gotta give it the Fonz" was the best
I think it's pretty awesome that he was inspired by Zac and now his van is being featured on AutoFocus.
Larry: Wow, this badge is so cool
"Correct"
12:30
This guy seems so chill and likable. I'd love to meet him, have a beer and talk about cars.
Correct
I feel like we would see a different side (the hoon side) if Zac was interviewing him.
Man I like that center console
You the first to click
If your sleeping on the Van's, your missing out! Lots of van groups on Facebook and Instagram. I'm in several of them.i have 3 astro Van's all modified in one way shape or form. And a 2001 express van with a 6.0 swap on 22inch transport wheels for my Restoration shop.
To each their own brother 🤙🏼
I sleep IN a van.
@@CANControlGRAFFITI home is where you make it
Love this vans are coming back ! I've got 77 nomad g20 .so glad I've kept it all these years .always said it's a hotrod i can sleep in . does anyone know if the nomad package is a rare option i can never find any information keep on vanning 👍
I dont much care for those sites, but will check them out to connect with other vanners
Very cool. Ive wanted a van since back in the 70's. Preferably a fully finished custom interior etc. Pretty badass that this one has that much power.
I have their gauges in my C10 and I love them they look like factory
I started doing plumbing service work in 1991. My jeevan love runs deep. And I want to marry those seats bro. Oh my God... Sikness!
this dude has an amazing vibe
I love these vans. My father's 79' was black with Cragars and side pipes (which burn like hell). My cousin once closed the sliding door on my hand (it locked). Although these vans kicked my ass, I still love them. My family had 3 at one time. I miss those days.
Watching this build tutorial made my Sunday morning
Really glad Larry was able to get this guy on the channel 👍
This van is amazing. I want
No.
Wasnt a van guy untill this. Sits great and runs like hell 🤘
Purpose built, craftsman execution.
Your square body brings back alot of great memories. My uncle had one when I was a kid. I went everywhere with him in it. It's my favorite vehicle of all time. I haven't seen one in 30 years. Thank you for the show..
I remember growing up with my dads 79 chevy van, cruising around LA in the 80s with a rotating fan and sitting on a wood box between the front seats haha
So cool! I loved the way he talked about tipping it on it's side, so casual, haha.
I miss my Van. Had I known about LS swaps back then, I would not have sold it. A 600 HP conversion van may be in my future!
I always loved these, the chevy more than others, but this whole era of vans is awesome, they look good in every way, rised, slammed, fully painted, patinaed, etc... and it shows how simple design stands the test of time.
I loved it in the 70s early 80s when customizing Vans was the big Rage. Wish it would happen again awesome looking Van's
And Interiors so nice you could live in them. We're talking refrigerator lights and a stereo system my home stereo system.
God do I miss the 70s and 80s
Where are all those vans can't all have been scrapped
@@zoob7 there is probably a big piece of land somewhere where hundreds sit just waiting for someone with the resources to grab them and start the trend again. Hopeful thinking. 😊
We're still Vanning !! Here's a link for the 48th VAN NATIONALS in Minnesota in July www.van-nationals.com/
Love the stance and the wheels! PERFECT!
Man I wish I had my old bike van back could have been a Dodgyvan . Props on Larry for picking something unique like this. Such a sick van
Putting a complete 1991 chevy Impalla wiring harness and drive train in my 1973.1991 chevy van dash and ac.What a massive undertaking.
A buddy of mine had one of these the same color and year with a 350/350 combo that he got to haul carpet in, had a flat rack on top of the roof the full length of the van to tie carpet and padding down to, long tube headers, shift kitted and slotted mags.. you wouldn't believe the stupid shit we did in that thing, like freeway surfing at 2am LOL dont do that btw!! this was back in 1989-1991 btw.. you think this thing looks like it was going to fall over you should have seen Joe doing donut's in the school parking lot with factory suspension! LOL thanks for the memories!
🤙
Larry i watched about 10 episodes of this today and u must have said finished a thousand times !!!
My parents had that Mack ashtray when I was a kid. Very cool!
Can we please see this frikkin amazing van in “ this versus that”????? Please!!!!!
I need something like this in my life more than I need my house.... sorry pops
The evil laugh when he mentions tipping it up on its side got me
Bucket seats with armrests. They probably recline and swivel too. That thing rips!
Ive got a straight 6. I want this done to my van so bad
Now that's my favorite van now perfect in every way respect brother
I had a 79, had a lot of fun in it.
I love these quirky one-off builds.
I love how this show is never over the top!
Excellent build! In 1973-76 I was living in Michigan and insulating these vans with poly-urethane foam.
Stuff shoots and mixes at the nozzle at temperature then adheres to anything permanently, increasing strength, and removing oil can effect.
Works great on roofs! I had a mushroom of snow on top of my '74 shorty and 90+ degrees inside.
Did underside and wheel wells of a '73 Toyota Landcruiser, quieted it down, and prevented rust for years.
For your rig
I would recommend doing the inside of the roof 1.5-2", painting a fireproof coating on it, then covering it with a headliner.
exoskeleton
Old Kennedy toolbox in Chevy orange...nice touch.
Super cool van!
Love me some vans and that is hella cool. Thanks for sharing.
That intro music! Hot dang, it’s a party!!!!
So damn hard to find a van. I remember my uncle and his homies back in the 70's with their Van Club they were all cool. Like this build A LOT!! Exactly what I was envisioning for my build.
Damn I'm a van lover my whole life. But the want in me wasn't bigger anytime then it is right know!
this guy is so chill he is one cool cat
pretty cool! this guy seems so nice and chill.
Wish I still had my '76 GMC Shorty Noseum 302 4 speed. There's something about rebuilding the top end... from inside... with entertainment and a few days life support.
Interesting toy you have there.
this thing is perfect!
I have a 78 G20 panel van shorty with a sdc 400 under the hood sitting in my driveway that I haven't driven in years. I get knocks on my door asking to sale it very often🤑 I'll get it back on the road someday🤔
Going to get going one day is the worse thing a car guy hears over and over and watching it still just sit there and deteriorate till its beyond repair and wasted biggest destroyer of classic cars the world over
Everything SBS touches turns out so damn nice. Love this thing.
Squarebody Syndicate puts out some Badass parts n vehicles!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Super sick van
Man that is one, Cool van!!! I have a 91 G10 about to put a 400hp 350!!! Ohh Yeahhh!!! 😁😁
thanks for the inspiration 89-G-20
I'm in freakin LOVE!!! WOW!!!
That van is rad man!
😎 😎...💯🤙🤙....Rad VAN...like that..detail is spot on...💥👌
My uncle had a short version of this. Had a 454 and a full carpet interior. It was crazy.
Van is sick.
Grant makes those steering wheels...they show up new as an unstained walnut wheel and then over the years the oil from your hands stains it to that color. They feel great to drive and are cool during the summer heat.
I'd love to see a This vs That against this and the Hoonigan Merch Van
Very cool.................... 👍👍👍
I got a '71 camper with a custom 350 small block. Love the custom doghouse on this thing! Dashboard's not from a 72 tho, so either he's wrong about the year or the whole dash was replaced at some point
Ohhhh the vans!!!
Larry finds another gem
No one:
Larry: “How much HP did this come with from the factory??... Ah so now it has x times as much HP now 🥴🥴🥴”
I like how he said, ...a slant 6
No shame in that.
KEEPONTRUKIN👍👍🇺🇸
YO!!!!! This dude won the burnout competition before he even got to the event as far as I'm concerned! Look at the forethought!!! This is a "Full Cup of Win." How cool. How good!
Hell ya cool ass van i want one im a van guy too
Love the van! I think if a roll bar is installed it has to be chrome to look good and match the build.
Build it to hold the curtains around the mattress in the back that would be epic
Burn out van awesome!!
Bad Van Mannn that thang is sweet kewl dude too
Rob is quite the wheelman.
I love Vans so cool
definitely want to see more van builds! kinda sick of burnouts though, I have to be honest haha
Not a burnout or especially a drifting fan.
Van life at its finest
Still my favorite van mybe even my favorite vehicle of all time good stuff guys
Needs a thick piece of plate steel welded in the back somewhere to lower the center of gravity so it doesn't roll!!
Really wish you would have shown the burnout win!!!
That’s a clean van.
That’s a beautiful van!
Smiles for miles in the madman van
i love this van
Thets a bad ass 🔥chevrolet 🔥van 🔥 sick ,nice rare to see it now days , I love Van's, I have 2 chevy astro first generation
I’m going to do this to my Chevy conversion van
Yes no bs straight to the point
Gotta love those "Burnout noises."
during a burnout contest.🤤
You know they mean business when they show up in a open face helmet
Holy crap that Mac bulldog ashtray in the centre consul of the truck my uncle Ken had one of those he had to buy like six Mac dump trucks before he got one
Usually reserved for the salesman thats killing it... I've managed to but 2 of them from those type of salesman lol
Viewers please go to your legislators and SEMA lets support these guys so we can keep our past time !!!
Nice van
Awesome build. Great interview. Hoo
nigan rocks!!!
I'd love to make a replica of the 'freeway fiddler' Dodge van from Death Car on the Freeway (1979) .. with a tunnel ram or supercharger on top of the motor right there next to your right foot in the cabin lol
I remember that!
this guy is so cool. i get the vibe he smokes a lot of weed lmao
Prescott AZ yea ya , beautiful patina woooooooooooweeeeeeeer. Siik burnout truck , Nascar ready pit stops wtf !!!
Awesome i just started working on a van similar to this its a short box i pulled out a few dents on the side door rear door and front nose was pushed in the guy wants to drop it and have it done by the next dinos get down
