- AMURT & AMURTEL Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health Program in Ebonyi State, Nigeria works secondary schools, communities and through young mothers support groups based in the primary healthcare centers. The program started in 2020 and covers 73 villages in six major project areas centered at the AMURT assisted health centers. The aims include: reducing teenage pregnancy, reduce harmful traditional practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation, raise awareness, acceptance and access to family planning methods, raise the awareness of the risks of substance abuse, support young mothers to complete their education and learn livelihood skills. The programs seeks to build self confidence and ambition amongst young girls, and also boys, so that they can realize their potentials and have smooth transition to adulthood.
