It is an irony for Indian Scientists that they never get enough credits for their work. Bose has always been judged for not getting a Nobel prize but commoners forget winning a so-called prize can never be a symbol of excellence. There were lot many scientists viz Bose, M.N. Saha, Stephen Hawking, Ramanujan etc. made significant contributions in Science.
Well put
It is interesting to see why we say Indian scientists do not get enough credit? How do you measure credit? Science is not a discrete world - its a continuum where every scientist makes incremental improvement over the work of the previous person. There are very few whose work is absolutely standout as they founded new fields of study, e.g. Einsten and his theory of relativity; Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrödinger, Werner Heisenberg, Max Born, and Paul Dirac, who gradually developed Quantum Mechanics - another revolutionary field in physics but by sheer individual contribution, Einsten, Newton and Gallileo stand apart. Even then, Einstein based his work on n-space differential geometry of which Minkowsky space was a part.
Theoretical scientists rarely get Nobel prize because Nobel prize is given to an actual discovery. Many of Stephen Kawking's papers are theoretical framework but have not been tested to be accurate. Even Einstein did not get his Nobel prize for the theory of relativity. Saha and Bose both were theoretical physicists whose works paved the way for further theoretical research and then with the invention of particle accelerators since the 1950s, their works were proved.
Ramanujan was a mathematician and as such he could not get Nobel prize because Nobel prize is not given to mathematicians.
I think bro we indian even don't care whats happening in science field if sir APJ Abdul Kalam wouldn't had become the president of india barely anyone would have know who he is and after looking at the current scenario of india i dont think anyone is interested in science stuff atleast news should promote rather than promoting god/religion which many scientist thinks that they don't exist and about the ancient science stuff we were not alone that time like we have lost and failed to recognise many scientist that time there were others civilisation who has lost them and about the baba stuff promoting religious text as a science (are you gonna read science metaphorically like connecting the dots or you want to read the exact word which today universally accepted ) and i agree some of these seems like they are just like mordern science but hey those were just basics and some of those were wrong like for example you have hanuman chalisa i don't where but somewhere it is written the distance of sun and earth but the thing those information are given by a baba they just missed the fact that th sun is exapanding every instant of time and from 9 billons light years after big bang sun was formed and after0.22 billion light years earth was formed now the time we are living in is 13.64 billion light years after big bang then and it has expanded 20% from its actually from its actually area and we don't know when was holy hanuman chalisa was written and after 1 billion the sun will start boiling and after 5 billion years the earth will end because sun will grow like very fast and it will suck up the earth so my request is to not to fall into these baba traps and read the actual science and who am i to tell you i am a future theoretical physicist
Nobel prizes mean nothing to him, We Indian sometimes wanted to be proud. But the man with that level of knowledge .. understanding the cosmos at that level .. does Nobel have any value in it?
We Indians are obsessed with the past. We are not looking what is happening at present and what we are about to do in future. The news channels are full of shitty programmes since the last 1.5 decades. I don't blame the medias. They just show what fetches them high ratings. If people love to watch shit, they will telecast shit. Teachers are also responsible to some extent. They kill the curiosity of young minds. Science is not just solving numericals. It brings rationality in mind. It makes mind more conscious of whats happening around..observe every little thing and analyze how and why did it happen first of all from scientific perspective.
I also don't know anything deep about sir S.N. Bose.. But my physics teacher once told me that his teacher was a student of sir S.N. Bose. I only knew about Bose-Einstein Condensate and The Boson particle....And if I remember .. When a science fair was organized in my school on the occasion of Sir Meghnath Saha's birth anniversary, a professor from Calcutta University told us a very little about these letters..
they have a museum of sort i guess at S N Bose Institute, very cool

@@GareebScientist Sir, as I know, Bose Institute is named after Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, another forgotten scientist of Mother India . The Institute which is named after S. N. Bose is SNBNCBS in which there is a museum on him.

Even though I'm from non science background I subscribed you because I think we as a country with the highest young population must follow these kind of information..in whatever field it is, it would be an honor for the hardworking Indians to get acknowledged for their contributions by the younger generation..

I'm fortunate enough to know about these great Indian pioneer scientists from my childhood. Thanks brother to share info about these great personalities. It will definitely encourage the new scientific minds.
nice, lucky
he was a Bangladeshi. And we love and respect him.
Important video. Being a Bengalee and a learner of Physics, I know about him, his work and the full history in quite details. Most Bengalee students know his name even if they don't understand his work. He is probably not that well-known outside Bengal except in scientist community.
I have heard the name Bose here in America and the name is quite well known but most people don't know it was after this scientist.
@@TR13400 "Bose" of Bose sound system is different. Are you referring to this Bose of Sound System or Physicist SN Bose?
@@tirthachakrabarti5912 I was referring to things like boson particles, which were named after the scientist. Yes of course many people don't know what those are but they have heard the name. "Higgs boson" is a fairly well known term. As well as the LHC even if they don't understand the science behind it.
Similarly, Jagdish Chandra Bose is forgotten for his work on wireless communication.
Cover karenge unhe bhi, there are so many unknown...... But want to cover indepth not just a Google article level stuff....

My two favourite channel talking in comment 😱
Thanks for exploring SN BOSE
He hold the record of getting highest % of marks in masters study at Calcutta University, still unbroken.
During his education in presidency college, teacher wanted to know his memory power....so they made a plan....a teacher from constructed a new poem....the teacher caught Bose on the street and tell him the poem.....now, the teacher asked Bose to repeat......Bose did it without missing a dot.
People used to call him 'Ranga Babu'. He used be in good times with chemistry guys rather physics guys during Calcutta University period.
And yes.... Einstein try to give him a recco for Noble(mentioned him to asked another recco from Fermi) but he has no interest for Noble prize.
He used to credited his grooming as a science enthuast to Acharya Gagadish Chandra Bose(created electromagnetic wave and demonstrated, but...) and Acharya Prafulya Chandra Ray).
Please pin this! @Gareeb Scientist
His record is broken by my friend in online exam 😂
@@rupakkumarchattopadhyay2572 Calcutta University no longer has the standards it had then. In the 1920's Calcutta University was even better than the University of Tokyo and now it barely competes with second rate private universities

Being a Bengali we know scientist Bose from our childhood.
I read Bose Statistics in last semester of my BSc physics. I knew about Bose in class 8 as he was in one of science magazine but then the greatness I got introduced to was in last semester.

At that time West Bengal was the centre of learning in South Asia due to the Bengal Renaissance and subsequent establishment of Universities. Scientists all around the world including C.V. Raman was associated with universities in Bengal. Nobel laureate Pakistani scientist Mohammad Abdus Salam came to Kolkata after he had owned the price to meet his professor from Bengal. Today every Indian science institute be it IITB, IITM, IISC, etc. has a considerable population of Bengalis. But slowly many institutions and universities are declining in Bengali unfortunately due to issues, corruption, etc. As a Bengali today we have to move outside Bengal for jobs as a researcher!
Fun fact.. The great Satyajit Ray was also a great writer & he had created a protagonist for several of his stories called Prof Sonkhu, who was inspired by Prof SN Bose!
Cool fact. Will check
I liked what you said about S.C. Bose not getting noble prize. People need to be more rational, Nobel prize isn't everything.
I am so happy to see google sponser this channel, i have always considered this channel to be underrated and that it deserves more as compared to the the amout of work he puts in.
Thanks for taking this topic ❤️ Finally we are talking about our great scientists ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you so so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Most welcome 😊
He wrote his first letter to
Maxx planck
I knew him and SC Bose from my class 8th (2018)
Jagadish Chandra Bose and Megnad Saha were born in Mymensingh and Dhaka in East Bengal (Bangladesh) but worked in West Bengal.
Satyendra Nath Bose was born in Kolkata and worked in Dhaka.
You finally made a video on the person who is very close to my heart ❤️
Love the standard model and statistical mechanics!!! It's the very fundamental of particle physics!!!
We can go more deep and few things could be more accurate... But anyway, accha video for general people, and GS slowly getting into particle physics!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am happy that part of particle has named after him.
As a Bengali, I knew him. But since his name came up, I would like to talk about another great scientist. Dr. Mani Lal Bhaumik, the first student to get PhD from IIT kgp. He was born very poor, so poor that he somehow survived 1943 Bengal famine on his grandmother's food. While in University of Calcutta, S.N. Bose himself persuaded him to complete PhD. With a torn bag, borrowed money from fellow villagers, and just little money in his pocket, he reached USA ( to pursue research at UCLA). That poor guy today is one of the richest persons there. He discovered the great LASIK surgery with few other people. People should know his story, a real rags to riches story
You can, I mean should read his book Code Name God
Online I see one of the 3 people behind LASIK as Rangaswamy Srinivasan
Need to read, I'll check
Edit - found more info.... I'm impressed wowwowow
@@GareebScientist Dr. Bhaumik had shown use of eximer lasers, which is used in LASIK surgery. Ya, for more information, you should check out wikipedia, or his book. Ya it was my bad, to directly credit him for LASIK, but still I want you to do a video on him with high research because he is a guy who is not known by many, but is one of the greatest success stories in the world.
In my textbooks we were just informed about a little that SN Bose worked with Einstein and just a little bit about Bose-Einstein Condensate state as a 5th state of matter in just 2 paragraphs... Indian textbooks should publish about how scientists worked along with the science so that students get more inspired to study science more... It's the way we can build great minds again
😥😥 yes
It's not about the people that matters but content.. Bose Einstein condensate is a higher level topic than what your study material teaches . The mentioned paragraph is enough to incite interest for those who want to dig deeper.
Thank you GS
Bahot acha lag raha hai bhai sponser Sunn ke 🥺🥺🥺👌🏻
It's quite unfortunate how he isn't celebrated in Indian education system given Satyendra Nath Bose's work along with Einstein paved a way to entirely new class of particles and gave a new way to detect behavior of particles which were different than Fermions (Bose-Einstein Statistics). If junior college physics textbook contains mention of Enricho Fermi, Ernest Rutherford et al, as soon as Photons come into question, Bose's name must be mentioned as well. Hell, there should be a national holiday in his name given Standard Model wouldn't be where it is now without his contribution. Padma Bhushan and a postal ticket aren't enough, IMHO.
Man was not only a polymath but also a polyglot and AFAIK was also able to play several musical instruments. What a literal badass.
i knw right, in this video i mentioned so many scientists, most are in our books besides bose......
I was lucky to have an op teacher in my 11th he did not cared that we were preparing for jee his lectures were 30% syllabus and 70% making us imagine about the universe and telling us about these geniuses I used to love his lectures but in 12th I had to switch as I wanted to compete for jee. I have not contacted him for around an year I think I will send him this vid. Man what a teacher he was(and is)… I waited for his lectures. Now that my 12th is almost over I hope to learn these thing for knowledge and not for rank
@@sauravprashar your teacher is very good.. would love to be taught by giants like them who enables our mind for great imagination
I would say - most of the science student in West Bengal knows this connection and far more details on this. Those letters are still having crucial knowledge on quantum physics as there were discussions on properties on quantum elements (which is now scientists deriving by projecting 3D Crystal out of 8 Dimensions concept and found much relevant on it). That's why Satyendra Nath Bose is The father of Quantum Statistics.
Sir, can you make a video on Dr Subhash mukhopadhyay also, the father of ivf who committed suicide because of indian government lack of funding and abuse, he was mentioned in 2010 nobel ceremony by oxford team who also achieved it independently, very few in india know about him but knowing about him is a must

Jagadish Chandra Bose, satyendra nath bose these are legendary scientist...they are very much underrated...just because they are from india...if they born in EU countries then today they would get nobel prize much before...even in our country also our books our university don't tell much about them...much of student in our country don't know their contribution...today Bengalis are ignored but just think how much devloped bengal was in our history Bengalis presence was every where...in history among 10great people there was always 8 from bengal in every field literature/science/sports/freedom fighter...really fell proud as a bengali as an Indian...
Excellent video. Bose wrote a paper and sent it to Einstein because no one was willing to publish his paper, simply becase he was an indian. Einstein immidietly appreciated it's importance. He then published a paper in which is explained a new stae of the particle beside solid, liquid, gas and plasma. This forth state was achived at an extremely low temprature. A hair above absolute zero (nearly -273 degrees centigrade), He called it bose einstein condansate. The vibration of atoms increases with temptrature, and the matter changes from solid to liquid to gas. Also in reverse the vibrations of atoms reduce as temprature goes down, from liquid to solid (Less vibrations of atoms). When it reaches a temprature, just a hair above ABsolute zero, the stae of the matter looses it's individual identity. All particales becomes like one, part of the same system, instead of indiviudual particle. This new state is called bose Einstine condensate. In 1992, one gernam and 2 American scientisits got Nobel prise (Jointly) for creating the forst Bose Einstine Condansate in universe. It is a quantum state. The properties of Bose EInstein consate is amazing. It lasts for few seconds. But the light when passed through it, the speed of light reduces to from 186,000/Miles/second to 10 miles / second. It slows down the speed of light. It has many more features.
