Same experience and I have had a lot of these Olfas for work. Glad you made this so I didn't have to. Should just slide out if it is unscrewed and aligned properly. Best knives ever for specific needs for sure. Keep up the good work.

OK, so what I need to know how to get the replacement blade out of the packaging case. So close, and yet so far. Any help available?

Oooohh good question. I vaguely remember that being tricky. I think the answer is "very carefully" lol. I'll try to find my replacement case if it's still around, try it out and circle back.
