Hey man, love the videos. It would be so cool to see you do a review on the new Gnetik V Catching glove, since you had so much success with the Gnetik IV I really wanna know if the newest edition in the line is as good as the IV, there is zero content on the new Gnetik stuff so I feel like it would do really well here on the channel! Thanks man great vid as always
As of right now, the only think I'll be doing videos on is the glove since that is what I bought. I feel like this is the perfect opportunity for me to say "reach out to the company if you want me to review a set of their demo gear". Only way looking at the other stuff is really going to happen unfortunately.
I got to demo these and i lovedddd the thigh rise. It had an excellent seal on the ice. I really want to get a set but the wait time is crazy. Also fyi, these pads are actually lighter than my warrior G2’s (senior model, not pro).
The biggest issue I have with the True gear is from what I have heard and seen in order times. There is a family in a goalie group on FB who ordered pads for their son in April. Original delivery date was August, changed to October. All 2021. They were sent an email last month changing the delivery date to September 2022. That is completely unacceptable. The kid will outgrow the pads before he gets to use them. True refuses to refund the money or cancel the order. Company bought VH and quality went down. Now they buy Lefebvre and want people to wait 18 months for pads? Thats unacceptable IMO.
You will see no rebuttal from me here. I would try and get a refund through the retailer or Credit Card company if possible if they won't cancel the order. The only reason I never bought a 12.2 set was because I knew how brutal the wait times were and I knew by the time I got the gear I wouldn't be happy that their new line was being worn in the NHL.
Curious what would you recommend going from an axis pad. Not wanting to wait for true production times. Would you recommend a Vaughn, wait for the new year and new axis or something different
SLR 3 is sort of similar to what the Axis and 20.1 were doing. But it would be better sliding. Honestly Miklin would be pretty close as well but you'd have to deal with the language barrier there.
I got the cheap CAN Ice and it isn't very good. Whenever I try to glide my skates stop way too quickly and I found I couldn't do my normal goalie movements at all on it. It works fine as a shooting pad and I can wear skates on it while doing that, but I am not a fan for anything goalie related on it.
Those two stretchable velcro straps on bottom are short. To put then together i need to stretc them alot, same actually with top one and one one top cover of those those calf muscle, If this is normal that they have to be so tight even after loosing them??
@HockeyReviews does it feel like they are just welded together with your legs then? I tried them in shop with max lenght all adjusted straps, can sit down but they never comeback to leg for position. Usually stay as butterfly:D
Totally different, these feel more like a version of a 20.1 than EFlex. Quality is also on a complete different level on these though, the CCM legit feel like a senior level of pad next to these. Some people are stuck in EFlex style of pad and can't get out (Holtby, Hart, Elliott) so if you need to go that route CCM is basically the only way to go at the moment. But I would suggest everyone try these before buying EFlex as I think these make a tonne of solid small changes that are useful.
They would be over $100 each for something I was satisfied with, and they wouldn't be something I could really keep in stock. Every order would basically be custom so not sure if I want to go down that route.
Imagine giving patrik Roy this equipment in his first year in the nhl. I’m not saying there’s an answer to this because he might not know how to use the gear.
I am assuming you are asking for trying to figure out sizing... but you should never go by someone's height and go by their ATK or FTK measurement. Which True has on their website. I am 6'3 though.
@@HockeyReviews I went by floor to knee with the L20.1 pads at 20.5 which is a 32+2 and they were way to small. I just order the PX3 catalyst and don’t wanna make the same mistake. My knee to floor is 20.5 but last set was to small.
I did FTK based on True/Lefevre's sizing for all of their pads and they fit as I expected. Strapping matters though as well and it depends on how you wear them.
@@HockeyReviews I like my pads tight at the ankles and calf and I usually wrap the knee somewhat tight. I want the pad to feel like an extension of my leg.
Also, a correction... the calf pillow piece WAS in the 20.1 pad. I forgot to correct that in the video!
Thumbs up to Justhockey for supporting this kind of activity. Will do my best to give them some business!

@@HockeyReviews Nah I get you bro, I was more so just talking about the glove, but I appreciate your reply and look forward to the vid : D

this is why we cant order pad no more
How would does the 12.2 and Catalyst line stiffness compare? Is the 12.2 much softer?
Yes, the 12.2 is softer than the new 9x3 and Px3 are. But True is coming out with a new softer option in the near future!

Where’d you get the Habs pants?? I have an Mike Condon pair but they are gettin old. Any tips on finding those?? 😬
Unfortunately I bought these like 5 years ago. I've been looking for more CCM pro stock pants but they have been getting harder to come by.
What were the specs for these pads in terms of the amount of internal breaks and stiff/soft?
Also would love to see a review/personal experience video of your CAN Ice (assuming thats what synthetic you're using)

Hey, if I'm in a Senior small bauer hyperlite (33") do you think a 32" L12.2 would fit the same? Thanks
Go by the FTK measurements on True's site and go by that.
Those two stretchable velcro straps on bottom are short. To put then together i need to stretc them alot, same actually with top one and one one top cover of those those calf muscle, If this is normal that they have to be so tight even after loosing them??
They are pretty snug even after loosening them. I took the top one off completely on my PX3 pads.

Have brians v model... bought in Toronto years ago.. dont know how about brians now but they are around 2000 euros here in eu
No, they don't feel welded to my leg and they always rotated well.
How you would compare these to the EFlex 5’s you got to check out?

What size would be recommended for a 17.5/20.5 atk/ftk ??
I won't recommend a size. Look at their sizing chart on their website and go by that.
Why the hell can't the calf-wing and inner leg be a single piece? They want to slow down sliding?
I think it has something to do with pad sizing. They didn't want the inside edge of the pad to be over a certain size.
Can you do a review on ice soon ??
I don't have this set anymore, I just borrowed them from Just Hockey at the time. Hopefully will have a PX3 review though!
Basically CCM eflex 4 but stiffer .
Not even close 😂
Not even a bit
How about selling some HR goalie jerseys? I'd buy one,.
They would be over $100 each for something I was satisfied with, and they wouldn't be something I could really keep in stock. Every order would basically be custom so not sure if I want to go down that route.
@@HockeyReviews well maybe T-shirts then?

Never go by height when sizing pads... go to Floor to Knee and check the companies' recommended size based on that.
