I bought one just like this one before I joined the army in 1975. I knew it was a 450 with a longer stroke. The CB 500T was outclassed by other 500cc machines, however, the bike was dependable for the double overhead cam had the bugs worked out after several years in service. I sold it when I was transferred from Germany and I later regretted it. The CB 500T had the lines of a lady and the dependability of a Swiss watch.

I loved mine, not a quick bike but it had very impressive torque that made it fly up hills

Luv it when its 80+ outside, and these guys put their hands on the pipes...to "prove" its a "cold start". NICE BIKE !

Looks exactly like my twin! I got a '75 as well. I got mine from my dad, who got it from my uncle. it was in the basement of a house he was renting out. The tenants left it behind, with a bunch of other stuff. It was only off the road since 2011.

I have the sane bike. Except I was told from the previous owner that I needed to kick start it and run it for about 30 mins before the bike would start w/the start button. And it’s hell trying to kick start that bike. Especially because I need practice and I am 5’4”. Haha

I had a 2nd hand 500T. It was outclassed by other motorcycles with the same displacement, but I didn't care, it was transportation.

Tom, you've got the perfekt youngtimer in an excellent condition and super spound, a real classical beauty . Today most of the bike riders want 4 cylinders much more power and lots of electronics wrapped in plastics. for 5 times the price of this Honda.

Needs a Good Service and a new battery and then I'll be using it on my daily ride.

I had the twin to this bike, even the color...I hated it and couldn't wait to get rid of it. I felt sorry for the guy I sold it to. My first bike was a '73 Suzuki GT185 which was much better. I wanted a bigger bike and the Honda was next...big mistake for me. My third bike was a Suzuki GS750L which for me at the time was heaven on Earth!

I bought the same bike in 1976. Good looking bike but kind of a dog performance wise. I’d rather own the Roadmaster wagon parked across the street 😁

Do you still have this bike? This video takes me back listening to that engine wind out - my dad had one he took me on when I was little and then shared with me for years when I got my license. That was until it developed a few issues we didn't have time or space to fix at the time and had to sell it to someone more able to restore it (didn't need too much). As you had a little issue starting the bike, it reminds me of exactly how ours would be slightly temperamental getting it going but once it was running it would take us anywhere. Interestingly enough my dad installed the same air cleaner assemblies on his, too. Thank you for sharing this! :-)

I had this bike also the rubber dyer frame's used to perish thy were under the round cups on top the carbs that made them a bit hard to start also at high speed thy fluttered when you gave them stick thy worked by vacuum so the throttle needle was not working rite but it was a easy fix two top screws to take off and a little rubber tab to line up the new one when fixed it was like a new bike

I think you need a little more riding practice. You really snatch the gears and ride the clutch a lot. Not smooth at all….spoils the video.
