Toyota for brand 20k more. X70 price more competitive for 1.8l engine and turbo, also bigger cabin space. Brand is just a logo and name. If proton price is not far off from Toyota. For driver benefit, it's definitely proton. If brand matters so much, then Toyota. Anyway Toyota chassis in terms of their lower range models ain't impressive. That 300kg difference meaning that the proton has a heavier chassis = stronger chassis. All manufacturers will cut cost and weight by reducing weight in engine hood, bonnet, rear truck, floor bed, panels etc. So touching them to feel for yourself which vehicle is a stronger built matters. For Malaysia production, I personally feel proton has a higher standard/respect in terms of safety compare to the other Malaysia brand. Just look at how many old proton has survived in Malaysia.
