    The bread tie...helped a TON. The hardest part was the fact that the Hulk must have torqued down the bolts and the freaking satanic hose clamps. We took the wheel and the plastic guards off, and it made it easier for my son to see what I was doing. I spent more time on the damn hose clamps then I did replacing the hose. For those that do this, just take a strong flat head, and spread the hose clamps apart. I had taken them off the frame, and that was a waste of time. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

    I used the twist tie trick once replacing the gear shift lever spring on a '92 GMC van. Once the spring was in the correct position I pulled the wire out and voila! Back yard mechanics have to be very creative.

    Just wanted to say with the help of a friend, managed to change mine on a 2013 yesterday not it was not easy. Easy if you have it up on a hoist I'm sure but lying on your back under jack stands and trying to get the banjo bolt in was a nightmare and the other side ain't no picnic either. If you slide under from the front head first, the banjo bolt is just past the stabilizer bar on the drivers side and the line loops up behind the engine and then back down to the pump on the passenger side. Maybe that will help someone visualize how it all connects. We also took the battery out to get access to the bracket up top (just what we did).

    Hi, I have Ford Edge Sport 2014. What I noticed, and not only myself. My son and my daughter also noticed that, the steering is too hard to turn, especially when you’re in low speed. I tried to tell the dealer. But unfortunately nothing has been done yet. What they said it’s hydraulic system. But should work softer if hydraulic. I really surprised what happened and just 2 years old since I bought.
    Thanks

    I have a leak on the driver's side connection should I just replace the copper gasket ? Or the whole thing just because. Line looks good and that's the only place I see it leaking from. Maybe it just wasn't seated right when the person replaced it before I bought it.

    • @bessemer-tech5579
      @bessemer-tech5579 2 года назад

      It's pretty easy to replace the copper in that end.. You could try it first I suppose, just to eliminate that possiblity, make sure it's not actually coming out of the boot on that side also. That would mean rack replacement.

    everything was fine , no noise and no steering trouble at all. all of a sudden on my return trip the noise started I get home and the resiviour was empty. Is this typically associated with a boot leak? Seems the heavy drip is above drive side control arm

    • @bessemer-tech5579
      @bessemer-tech5579 2 года назад

      Power steering system is under extreme pressure.any leak on the pressure side(,fittings,hoses) can get worse quickly. However if you have fluid leaking directly from a boot on the rack& pinion unit...usually this is a leak requiring rack replacement.

    Does the small opening on the bolt and the small opening on the hose have to line up.

    • @bessemer-tech5579
      @bessemer-tech5579 5 лет назад

      With the correct bolt and two copper washers, it is lined up top to bottom. That is the only alignment necessary..the bolt head does not have to be lined up for flow.

      @@bessemer-tech5579 Thanks. I changed the pressure line on my 2007 edge. Its leaking worser then before, all on the exhaust. Its dry around the pressure hose. i'm going to use some die to pin point where its coming from. Im thinking its the rack and pinion seals. Thanks again for the reply.
