Amelia i can't recommend a Greyhound enough. they are amazing pets, gentle, quirky, loving, lazy and funny. They're ideal apartment dogs, they are large but they glide about so elegantly, they also rarely bark, don't shed hair, they are wonderful and require very little exercise, two 20 minute walks and they are done, they sleep a lot. They're the opposite of what most people believe to be true. Xx
Rescuing a dog is amazing but she said she wants a dog that's somewhat independent and a lot of rescue dogs are very anxious about being left (understandable) and having to rehome a rescue cause it's too attached would be awful.

I recommend going to ‘discover dogs’, it’s usually at excel centre - I found it an amazing way to meet lots of breeds and figure out if their temperament and exercise needs suits your lifestyle. Cute little German spitz Klein might be a good fit (that’s what we had)

I think you should start go to your local dog rescue meet ups. Those places usually do events over the weekend and they always have all types of dogs. We got a German shepherd mix from a place called rescue rovers (Utah) and she’s been there best dog ever!! Got her when she was 12 weeks old, her entire litter was taken in from the streets. You aren’t crying because you’re finding yourself!! So happy for you, best wishes! 🎉❤
