I just realized why it's bleak in the color scheme- it's moving into a bleak future and has more plain areas so that it'll look better in ketchup stains
I feel like I'm the only one who really likes the design. It feels like a much more aggressive and "made for war" Aerial. Which, given it's first launch, it fits very well. It's a lot more squared off and militaristic looking, as opposed to the friendlier and rounder original.
To each their own. If anything, I can appreciate that there are some people who manage to like the design better than I do. Then again, the one thing that will benefit the Aerial Rebuild massively IMO is more warm accents dotted about the rest of the body like the Tall Strike.
3:13 I think the issue may be the abundance of blue... The yellow collar and red feet would've been nice to keep aswell. Rebuild looks kinda like the 00 Diver Ace or 00 Sky to me.
I honestly love the design and can't wait to throw it in the paint booth. These kits are very easy to paint and make look fantastic. I still don't understand why they include blue beams when they've never used blue yet. The OG Aerial never even did but still came with blue. Did it even use the gun blade part?
I assume it's because they hadn't finished the Season 1 storyline when they released Aerial In the trailer there's a scene of Aerial fighting a standard Dilanza in space with blue beams, this never actually happens in the show
The Lfrith used the gun blade for like two seconds, iirc. Imo the beam and eye colors inconsistencies point to some indecision and last minute changes during the show's planning. The red Aerial eyes never come up. The Darilbalde uses red beams on the opening, yet never shows it off before being taken away, possibly forever, while the kit comes with green and purple(???) effect parts. The Aerial comes with blue despite never using it onscreen and you can't even easily swap it because they are custom, squarer blades. This and some scenes from the PV/trailers that never come up make me think they originally planned for more episodes or a different plotline.
Wasn't it explained that the beam used in Asticassia is in a low setting hence the green color? A guy from the last episode commented on this when the Rebuild fired its buster rifle. Aerial would probably have a blue blade had it not followed the school regulation. Lastly, Aerial used the gun blade in the fight against the Michaelis and the Pentes.
Here she finally is, the hydraulic press in Gunpla form, that costs as much as an actual press. While I am found everything of the design, and still found of it, the model kit does an actually good job of setting that modification aside. Minus a few adjustments like a non-adjustable shield and some offensively-obvious seam lines, I'm actually glad how well this kit worked, especially given its BFG.
I understand that you may like the Aerial Rebuild, but please use your own words next time instead of straight copying my description with minor changes
To think I'd miss the tricolor scheme ,overall I think the original Aerial is nicer looking as a design, bold colors and shapes, while the rebuild changing a lot of things that didn't need change
As someone who didn't really like the Aerial having yet another RX-78-2 derived color scheme, the Aerial Rebuild's predominantly blue scheme was a heaven-sent change for me (especially as I love blue), as I do prefer the Gundams that take a break from tradition (e.g. Freedom, Double X, Nu, Hi-Nu, etc.). Also, the Rebuild returns some of the sharp angles and blockiness that the Lfrith has, which I very much prefer. The only thing I don't like about the Rebuild are the lower portion of the backpack, as they're too round compared to the rest of the design.
The thing about the examples you raised is that they either have more to accent the predominantly blue color schemes or are changed altogether. I don't mind a break from tradition, especially for an upgrade, and the silhouette I'd be alright with, but when the traditional Gundam color scheme is so haphazardly shoehorned in with nothing to accent it resulting in a plain look. The Tall Strike is a great example of how it could work with more accents
@@mj2005gundam well, Aerial Rebuild still has the red shell units and some bits of color here and there like yellow on the backpack and green on the shoulders so it's fine. I personally don't like Gundams which colours makes them look like giant toy robots, like the original Aerial but i get it, it has those colours not only because is the classic color scheme , but also because the first part of the series wasn't very serious in tone compared to the second part.
I like how the backpack pays some homage to the original Lfrith with storing the rifle on the back and attaching some of the bit staves to movable binders on the bottom of the backpack.
Just got mine in today along with Thorn and Ur. Cant wait to build them all. The rebuild looks more like the 00 mixed with GP01Fb to me. A fancier GP01fb anyway haha
If the main thing that's problematic is the lack of yellow in the chest, then I can live with it, because I don't think this upgrade design to Aerial is any worse than back when GP01 was converted into GP01Fb. I mean, I prefer the original Zephyranthes a lot more for its traditional Gundam color scheme, but It wasn't a deal breaker even when the red waist became white and the suit was suddenly equipped with weird looking shoulder armors and gigantic rear boosters.
Well, what one thinks of the design is subjective, as I emphasized time and time again in the video, it shouldn't sully what the kit manages to provide in the package, which is a great experience that has equal ground compared to the original Aerial. Whether or not you want to pull the trigger based on either the design or the kit contents is up to the individual.
Kind of a bummer that there wasn't a parts pack, a la Build Fighters and IBO, that had the blue Shell Units for Aerial. Bandai should do weapons packs like that more often, so that P-Bandai variants like the recently announced "Blue Shell" Aerial.
We are due the beam claws for the Michaelis, the extra firearms for the Zowort, and the big bazooka cutters of the Ur and Thorn. That's enough material for a weapon set.
Great review as always. I agree with you on the design. Somehow the original aerial just seems more unique looking, but as a kit, this should be a very enjoyable build. Unfortunately hobbylink didn't have enough kits stocked to fulfil my preorder 😭 . I'll have to wait for a restock... sigh.
It is indeed enjoyable, and from that alone I still recommended it. My opinions on the design should not be factored into how the model kit performs by its own merit. A shame that your preorder couldn't be fulfilled though. But at least you secured one for whenever they're back in stock
This kit is a case of me having no interest towards it initially, to appreciating it for what it brought to the table. I'm honestly gonna say it's a bare recommendation or even a suit-yourself if I throw in my subjective opinions into the mix as well
I get why you don't like its design (even though I still like it overall), as it seems much plainer, much more blocky, and overall less unique and more traditonal gundam than the original Aerial (especially the addition of the single mouth vent, which I believe wasn't needed and makes Aerial look even more traditional Gundam than I like to its own detriment). There has been a theory going around however, that Aerial's new plainer, less colorful, and more blocky design is meant to be a metaphore about how Aerial and Suletta are going down a darker path, plus the fact that Aerial looks like its made for actual military combat and not just for dueling in the school. I'm pretty sure right now it's more about combat effectiveness, and less about looks, like how real military vehicles are designed. Basically, Aerial is much more utilitarian now. Edit: I've also heard a theory that Aerial could potentially get another upgrade, with this theorized 3rd design looking more like the original Aerial again.
If the potential symbolism the second half justifies the design, it will work to warm up people like me towards the Rebuild. As it stands, theories are just theories, so all we have until the second season finishes is what was offered in paper and plastic

And if her new design doesn’t scream “War” her new Gunbit cannon that dissengrate other Gundam with ease without impact.
To each their own, but IMO, the one thing that can easily fix the Aerial Rebuild design is extra warm accents. It looks too cold (possibly due to symbolism, we'll see), but it just looks very bland without some extra red or yellow
@@mj2005gundam actually, I do wish it had more yellow, yeah. There isn't any on the body, and I'd like some yellow accents. Red on the feet would have been nice too. But for me, those are pretty minor complaints.

I do think some more color or different shades of white will help, still not bad but it’s like the unicorn and too plain looking without some added details or colors
The silhouette of the Ariel Rebuild looks more like a regular Gundam than it’s first form. And I agree, I don’t really like it. I don’t hate it, I just feel it’s not unique anymore. But I do appreciate that the Rebuild still resemble Ariel even though it’s completely different. I think I’m going to repaint mine. White turns to shiny Black, Blue turns to Red, Yellow stays Yellow, maybe add more yellow. During the initial promotion of this show, they show us the silhouette of Ariel and to me it looked a little bit like Guyver. And that’s why I’m going to make Rebuild black to resemble the third Guyver with its many horn, or in this case V-fins.
The OG Aerial is by far and away my fav Gundam design. I am not crazy about the rebuild but it's still more Aerial than any other Gundam imo. If you removed all accessories and the head and showed someone the gunpla they'd assume it's an aerial/lfrith variant. I think they're going for a tonal change after the patricide, ketchup incident, and Shaddiq/Prospera showing their true colors. Aerial was fresh and hopeful. Now Suletta has been "rebuilt" and corrupted showing the same vicious cycle that trauma manipulation and violence causes like other Gundam shows have shown and a more traditional look makes sense. I'm personally more excited for the second season because of it, personally even if I am not as fond of the design. The gundbits have shown malice in the past(Pharact fight) and after Suletta's shown the capacity for brutally murdering someone with no remorse I think we'll see a much different Aerial now which will make the change more palatable.
In terms of functions and gimmicks, the Aerial Rebuild would be the one to get by a long shot; but if that doesn't interest you, just go for the one you like better in general
@@mj2005gundam Thanks! I'm just getting started with Gunpla having only built the EG RX-87-2. But after watching season 1 of GWitch I think I'm in for a new hobby.
There's speculation that the Rebuild symbolizes the dark path Suletta travels down because of Prospera, and that there will be another form to symbolize her coming out of her mother's shadow. However, to me, the theories are just theories, and it's like asking for an upgrade of the Strike Freedom, another untouchable MS.
Ty u just saved me from a boring night and great work on nub cleans and especially that vfin. Also glad to know i wasn't just me i have been say they did a OO to this guy like upgraded it like exia to OO big backpack thixk weapons and too much blue color adding.
Thank you, glad you liked my work. There is a good example of a blue-dominant color scheme that you could take for a custom paint scheme for this kit, the Tall Strike. Being dominated with blue isn't the issue, it's that there's no accents to liven up the looks
To be honest I think the rebuild came too fast. I wanted some new backpacks like something similar to seeds backpacks like the ones on the freedom or the destiny for the aerial. I don't mind the recolor since I always found the original too bright and have always preferred the lfrith color palate.
Like I said, it really isn't the color palate that's the problem, but how it's barely accented. Also, any extra backpacks will be fixed by scummy weapon packs that come in the future. We just need to know that they exist
I thought I was the only one who didn't like the design for the Aerial Rebuild. Had it not been an Aerial upgrade for season 2, it would've been an okay design, but it just doesn't look like an upgrade like Barbatos Lupus to the Barbatos or 00 to Exia (I know the latter is an entirely new MS but) what I'm trying to say is, for a season 2 main MS, it's just underwhelming. But that's just me, people can like what they like, I'm not one to judge anyone for liking it.
In my opinion, it's the Astraea II all over again, with the lead Gundam color scheme begrudgingly shoehorned in. Though, I know that at least half the community likes it, and I'm not here to judge.
Honestly the more I see rebuild the more I like her. I prefer the new coloration, specifically the new blue. The matte yellow on the old scheme looks kind of tacky to me, even if it is a classic look. I think the new backback is striking without being too over the top. I do still like the old Aerial's chest I think, but I can honestly appreciate the new blocky looks, being reminiscent of classic UC designs, though the silhouette is still Aerial.
Fair enough, to each their own. To me, not only does it look cold and lifeless without warm accents, it looks a dime a dozen compared to the rest of the Gundam designs instead of having the uniqueness of the standard Aerial
@@mj2005gundam Yeah I wasn't sure at first because I really liked original Aerial's looks a lot, but she grew on me. Luckily I can get kits for both of them.
@@mj2005gundamThat was the point. I ordered a total of 4 kits of this. 😅 Again, I don't know why. 😂 Got carried into the hype? Maybe. But I'm glad I did. After watching this, I'm not regretting anything. 😂
I've been wondering, how many bits fit on the gun without extending anything or losing the scope, and whether it looks better as a more compact but chunky blaster? Is it possible that the aerial rebuild is as its name a rebuild and the original is still somewhere under extensive repair thats why in the final battle in season 2 it comes back with red eyes. Just my copium regarding the eye stickers.
I wish... the Lfrith PP had used the red eyes at Permet Score 4, yet they didn't appear on the Aerial when it reached Permet Score 6. If the second half is returning to the status quo, it's likely we'd never see the red eyes in use

Spoiler alert, it's sriracha with photo editing. I'm glad you like the joke though. Still to this day I think the original is better, but I'm more open to making a fusion design and taking from color schemes like the Tall Strike's to make the best of both worlds, one day.
I dunno why everyone has such a problem with the new color scheme. it's basically the same as the original, just with a more serious appearance. The original Aerial fit in well with the premise of non-lethal school duels, but it's moving far away from that now.
It's mostly the added blue without the warm contrast that I don't like. I would rather have the color scheme be drab and brooding instead of trying to force in the traditional Gundam paint scheme, or have them go the Tall Strike route and sprinkled in more warm accents for a good balance.

The design still screams JNTHED upon first glance, so its roots still show. However, beyond the BFG, it just looks dull.
Maybe there will be a 3rd version like other gundam protags..
I honestly doubt it, why would an OP machine need an upgrade?
All things considered, would it be recommended to get the Aerial or the Aerial Rebuild if I could find just one?
In terms of functions and gimmicks, the Aerial Rebuild would be the one to get by a long shot; but if that doesn't interest you, just go for the one you like better in general
@@mj2005gundam Thanks! I'm just getting started with Gunpla having only built the EG RX-87-2. But after watching season 1 of GWitch I think I'm in for a new hobby.
Does this aerial rebuild is the final form, or there will be another one
How did it came too fast, it finally showed up after 11 episodes. Gundam series are lucky if they can get 2-3 seasons or 22-30 episodes.
Rebuild's design is to make it look more like a cold and menacing machine since the story gets a lot more serious the moment it appears and honestly, i can't take the original Aerial very seriously with those colours and innocent appearance. I like the original look but the change was needed.
This looks like a kit that would get a raiser and twin drive system upgrade midseason
Perhaps have it emit GN particles and paint it red in a photo edit
I ordered a total of 4 kits of this. 😅
Again, I don't know why. 😂 Got carried into the hype? Maybe.
But I'm glad I did. After watching this, I'm not regretting anything. 😂
What are you gonna do with 4 of these?
Build two (one with blue eyes, one with red eyes), give one to a friend, and the last one I'll keep in reserve.
personally i find this design better,it agrees with me
More power to you
@@mj2005gundam this power...I CAN FEEL IT RUNNING THROUGH MY VAINS
I've been wondering, how many bits fit on the gun without extending anything or losing the scope, and whether it looks better as a more compact but chunky blaster? The fully extended form looks kind of like a skeletonized mess with random bits for padding to me lol
tbh, im not quite sold on either aerials, but if this idea with the gun looks like something, maybe the rebuild is a little more worth considering for my tastes
There are 6 ports last I counted, 2 of them circular, the rest are flat
That's slappin'
Pun fully intended
I like that the rebuild has a more gundam looking head
More power to you for liking it
Oh god... never got it in Indonesia yet... where is it...?!
Gotta keep your eyes peeled, since these things sell like hot cakes
@@mj2005gundam no kidding, As I predicted, since Aerial rebuild was launched, EVERYONE! (on Daniel Cross' tone in MFSMW) did scrambled to get the Aerial Rebuild. Funny thing is just when we will get that. And if Indonesian's primary distributor launched it, that's where I have to wake up SUPER early to anime conventions that also involved the said distributor market
Miorine would scare for intro and having PTSD seeing blood & tomato 😂
If only the series has shown a modicum of inclination that they'd follow through on that. I personally doubt they'd follow on the shock
@@mj2005gundam Why wouldn't they? They have consistently shown peeks of the darker reality behind the veil the protagonists live in. The slap isn't a heel face turn, it's a culmination.
I love how you open reviews with a gag.
EmGo does similar with "Mascot" quipping about the review subject.
Said Mascot is just an old BIONICLE figure, namely Stronius from the Summer 2009 wave.
Yes i'm a nerd for knowing this, i grew up loving that franchise.
Meanwhile I have no idea what franchise that is. But I'm glad you like the occasional jokes
@@mj2005gundam EmGo is a Transformers/Tokusatsu reviewer. :P
I love the aerial rebuild. Only grievance is it needs more red
There we go. More warm accents can go a long way for this design
When you want your 00 to have the Wing Buster instead of the switchblade.
When your 00 Gundam has the Virtue bazooka
Hi I have friends that are currently in Japan can you give me some recommendations for places to buy gundam? Thanks before hand 😊
I'm not from Japan, but it also depends on where they are in Japan. If they're in Tokyo, Gundam Base and some stores in Akihabara will work. Side F in Fukuoka, Gundam Factory in Yokohama would also work if they just so happen to be there as well. I'm not so sure about the rest
@@mj2005gundam Thank you very much I'll inform them right away they are in Tokyo right now 😊.
Why is the hand red?
Sriracha and photo editing, unless you didn't see G-Witch and don't understand the reference
It's out already? Damnnn
Yep, it's already out, since 18/3/2023 in Japan
Is it possible that the aerial rebuild is as its name a rebuild and the original is still somewhere under extensive repair thats why in the final battle in season 2 it comes back with red eyes. Just my copium regarding the eye stickers.
I wish... the Lfrith PP had used the red eyes at Permet Score 4, yet they didn't appear on the Aerial when it reached Permet Score 6. If the second half is returning to the status quo, it's likely we'd never see the red eyes in use
I can’t wait for the review of the Lfrith chicken legs
Coming soon. It needed a full repaint
I doubt aerial will get another upgrade in mid season 2, since the rebuild are for robot damashii p bandai.
Me too, but we'll see.
Aerial rebuild is shown to be scary and menacing from Episode 13
It has already been scary and foreboding ever since it squashed a mosquito in ep 12
I think the duller colors would look good in sunsets
I'll have to try that sometime
i see resemblance to GP01, but i don't think the design is for me. if the lower leg is thicker(with thruster or just pure armor) i'd would love it. currently the proportion is a bit too top heavy for me.
Nothing a backpack switch can't fix if that's the case
@@mj2005gundam true too bad Marisoul Flight Pack is reather hard to find around where i live lele
Bandai should make a HG kit in the despair Gundam memory sequel there design is very unique there.
Unfortunately, they rarely pay attention to obscure titles. Look at what they did to EXA or Walpurgis.
@@mj2005gundam indeed there's so many amazing design in those titles and Bandai wasting so much in rx 78 2 they can do better theres so many amazing designs there.
Not my favorite design from Witch from mercury but i bought it anyway just because i plan on getting all of the model kits from the season i got Guel's Dilanza, OG Aerial and this rebuild so far
Well, if you have the money for it, might as well complete the collection
Sophie even says it's scarier. I think that was the point.
And I agree with her, it has the 00's glare.
this kit would look better in pearl gloss colour just like in the box cover
Well, nothing a little water color can't do. That's what the box art style is like, a very intricate water color painting
I like the original more than this 👀
And the shield is still below Lfrith since it still part forming 🙄
Btw nice joke at start lol 😂 I really thought for second bandai really put blooded hand inside kit as accessories 🙈
Spoiler alert, it's sriracha with photo editing. I'm glad you like the joke though.
Still to this day I think the original is better, but I'm more open to making a fusion design and taking from color schemes like the Tall Strike's to make the best of both worlds, one day.
GP01FB ROBBED THE CRADLE and got the Ariel pregnant and she gave birth to this.
Both of them came out of repairs from being wrecked in a battle as well, some good parallels there
I just can't with the new head. It's like the antennae are too long or something. Just seems kinda off...
It's the 00 feels coming off the head
If Bandai makes Aerial rebuild a Mg or FM I would by that shit so fast
If only they still made retail kits for G-Witch
i think the proportion seems awkward, maybe 1/100 could fix
Sometimes I think the HG looks good as a base representation, but it'd be the larger scales that refine upon the design
I am going to make it into Tallgeese II.
Full white and blue, that'd look nice without the forced warm accents
@@mj2005gundam yeah, it’s only the booster pack looks weird..
Personally, I take the more drab design as an omen for how Season 2 is gonna be like, if you catch my drift.
Yeah... but based on the trailer, it feels like we're going back to the status quo
@@mj2005gundam I dunno, Lauda is slated to take Sulletta on in the next season.
THAT should be interesting.
Where's Thorn?
Couldn't manage to work on it alongside the Aerial. I need time to rest before going at that video, since it also demands a full repaint
Looks like the gpo zemphetheis
I never understand why people are picking up on GP01 vibes apart from "Oh, it has big wing-like boosters"
@@mj2005gundam it has the boosters and the color scheme fam
It remind me to the gp01fb
Because of big wing boosters?
@@mj2005gundam and Aldo for the colors

Absolutely
Something really off about this kit design, must be that backpack booster
And how it looks like the 00 Gundam
Dang thx for this review, think ill wait til the robot spirits rebuild tho, since i like the anime design and lack of stickers. Been holding off on aerials kits since im trying to get the best version, really love the rebuild design tho but the hg just aint hittin imo. If i do get an aerial kit it mite have to be the pb permet score 6 since the pearlescent colors and blue stickers and green beams look fantastic. I know my wallet wont appreciate my decisions tho… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah. Typically they're more expensive compared to the standard HGs. Hopefully you enjoy them though

Sadly, I didn't enjoy it
i think the model kit is way too bulky and the legs have too much white
Yet another "more is more" design philosophy, without the color scheme to make it work

He's still kicking around on the internet, he's just not posting on his channel anymore
I'd say, the Rebuild is in between mediocre to overpowered mobile suit... I hope it can withstand the attack of Lfrith Ur and Thorn in Season 2...
Mediocre in design, actually overpowered. It has no GUND-Format backlash, what can I say?
Tomato hand....nice.....
Yep. I'm here to save you now
Yeah this kit is a pass for me, the original aerial look a lot better because of unique it looks especially the colors this one looks kinda bland and waist looks kinda fugly
At least the original one looks warmer compared to the Rebuild
the new design is fugly...it's lost what made the Aerial "unique". The colors make me think "knockoff" tbh.
There's nothing inherently wrong about the design itself, but calling it an Aerial upgrade is just not doing it for me
This female gundam does not look good for me. Need a custom detailing and painting to make it really stand out...
There's the key to making the design pop
Intro 😂
I had to do it
It looks more like a downgrade of the Aerial.
In terms of the kit engineering, it's a side-grade. In terms of design, I'll let the individual be the judge
Fragile piece of crap. Mine broke an hour after building it
That probably means you're either careless or rough with the connections
This Aerial Rebuild is so bland compare to the OG
