I actually picture my version of a kobold as a dog-like lizard.
They're from Germanic folklore, and no, they aren't lizard dogs.
That's clearly a dog. Last I checked Kobolds are closer to humanoid lizards/dragons... This is the second time I've seen a Dog like character labeled a Kobold. I'm confused...
I have seen kobolds with fur too, but they still have a reptilian shape to them.
There's like two versions as far as I can tell. One says they are lizards, and one says they are dogs. The "lizards with fur" was probably an attempt to merge the two.
Anime kobolds are different from D&D kobolds. At least in most of the animes I had watched, they are portrayed as humanoid dogs...
Japanese interpreting kobolds as dog people is a result of two different things. 1 is an old dnd translation referring to them as doglike, the other is that the wizardry series has dog kobolds.
