My parents grew up in Monessen, and I spent my childhood exploring its streets, collecting penny candy from Grecco's store, and walking downtown to Isleys with my nanny. I often walked from my Nana's house to Mary's bar for a snack, creating cherished memories along the way. My uncle Ryan played high school football, and as a 5-year-old, I cheered from the stadium seats where I would later buy my first home nearly 20 years down the line. Although I grew up in Maryland, Monessen shaped my upbringing in profound ways. After my mom passed away in 2003, I recognized the importance of family and community, prompting me to move back to Monessen. When my husband and I bought our first home, we deliberately chose this place because it felt like home to me. I had invested so much into the people and the area before making that decision, and I stand by that choice with pride. The kindness of the community shines brightest in challenging times, and I have faith that Monessen will rebuild and thrive once more. Let's work together to support its resurgence.

In the early 70s, you could see the foundations of many buildings/houses, but the only standing structures then were the school and the 3 or 4 houses near it.
