The issue with this version is Beast got way too involved. Having a prize pool, the whole thing on the tower, it kind of defeats the point of what Ish does. Ish is an observer. He creates a story out of what he sees and has established stages of progression, but (TO MY EXTERNAL KNOWLEDGE) doesn't actively force a certain outcome by giving out a murder weapon in order to get a climax half way through the experiment
He literally states in interviews that he tries his hardest to not intervene in what the players do, even if it means important characters end up dying much earlier then he was hoping. Plus most of his civilization videos avoid having any kind of clear goals specifically for the purpose of allowing players to do whatever they want for their story. Because of the environment and pretty clear goal that was made here it affected the actions of players and the overall storyline, so it just felt off compared to his past videos.
Agreed. I feel like if MrBeast wanted to make this crossover more of his own, to add stakes to the money and Tower, there should've been more influence on his end to create a better storyline. Ish being an observer and not influencing RP is still the better way to do this kind of event, but imagine if at the end of every day there was a slightly more impactful decision to be made. With the current structure, you shouldn't do anything the first 6 days other than gain notoriety. MrBeast's social content, for all his faults, thrives on putting tough decisions on people and making them test themselves. So do more of that to create conflict, incentives, rewards, etc

There was very little vetting on the girls side, so many real players did not even know how to make a sword. Ofcouse the video MrBeast put out did not show any of this.

@tristonloux966 This is kind of hard to explain why it is controversial and I might not be the best to explain but there were a lot of girls that had things happen to them like the event itself didn't had enough signups for girls so people who never played minecraft joined the girls side a lot more, not only that but a few boys bought accounts on the girls side where they killed a lot of girls and the staff didn't help fast enough for a lot of fixes, and because of that happening there was drama and chaos from trans girls because the people didn't know if they were really trans or not. Not only that but mr beast didn't even acknowledge it IN THE VIDEO. Also it's just a blatant knockoff from ish's one with the thumbnail being REALLY similiar, and the narrative just didn't make sense. Like it mostly focused on the boys and triplelion but like IT'S JUST A BAD STORY.

People underestimate how big of a difference there is, between an actual good player and a casual player. Swight, the number 3 pvper was in the event. He could easily take out entire army of casual players

this is exactly what happens, i wasnt surprised at all that the girls side had problems with sexism, not having enough experienced players who wanted to participate/got invited to participate, and others buying accounts to sabotage the girls, this is always what happens, its never a fair fight. Not only that but this plays so much into gender stereotypes (the guys side choosing war over peace, making the girls side look weak and the guys side look strong. Also this is a much smaller problem, but the whole girls side only having pink trees and the guys side only having blue trees, like why... As well as a bunch of other stuff)

Also just want to say ive been in a Mr. Beast Gaming Competition and they are horribly moderated, in my experience there were always racist and sexist things happening on the servers with mod team not caring because they would "edit it out" and there are clips of Mr. Beast saying weird things to people in calls during them, there is a clip behind the scenes of Mr. Beast telling an obvious minor contestant to use their money to "buy a 50 gallon drum of lube" and many people lost due to the mod team poorly thinking things through and not understanding their own rules. To even participate in these, you have to sign a document stating not to discuss it until after, or you could face legal action, and it wasn't a good experience at all for the competitions I participated in. It legit was the whole Squid Game thing of poor people fighting for money, but it's filled with hackers and racists.
Yes, in the event I attended (a building event), mods allowed a large number of people using schematics into the video, and I personally got eliminated because one of the plugins corrupted many people's builds, preventing them from reaching the finals. I was promised into the finals but they corrupted my plot, I spent a week of my life working for them just to get an "oopsies" but I dont care about that but more about how he was acting when the cameras were off, the stuff he would say with minors in call was just gross and telling because this was back before chris transitioned and was being innappropriate towards minors, in the clip that I have everyone stops talking and confused because why in the world would he say that with minors around, even dream tried saying wtf. its sad that Ish goes along with this all cause he was in the video too he was there and he genuinely makes good content but I find it so hard to support him with slop like this.

So apparently a bunch of Russian men decided they were gonna use deepfake pictures and voices to get into the girls side to troll them and make their lives actual hell during the event. The girls team did really badly because only 5% of them knew pvp AND have played Minecraft before. The rest never touched the game in their lives so for the first half of the game the girls who knew how to play were basically teaching the newbies the basics because the Mr beast team couldn't find enough women who were eager to join so they'd take anyone, even if they'd never touched the game in their lives. The men on the other hand had to be really skilled players to get in and had to go through a review of their skills to get in. Later on some of the skill they needed sacrificed some of their man power to disarm the multiple traps left by the Russian men disguised as women that they left so the women would fail. There was no report system so the only thing they could do is ping the admins multiple times but a lot of the girls were too scared to speak up because of backlash. I believe the Russian men were eventually removed near the end of the game and replaced with more players who had never played Minecraft. Harassment galore. More happened I just can't remember off the top of my head. A lot of the girls on twitter spoke out on this issue
Someone from the girls team here; I was part of one of the tunnel teams, we called ourselves The Bold Moles We made an entire maze of tunnels deep underneath the surface, that way if the boys DID manage to get in, they wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of where they were We spent several hours in a secret tunnel at the border, waiting for it to drop. The plan was to break through as soon as it did, and then be able to flank the boys and pick off stragglers. What the mods neglected to tell us was that the border would fall above the surface, but anything underground would still be impenetrable. Which meant that when the border dropped, a TON of the girl's forces were deep underground, and had to dig all the way back out only after realizing that our plan had to be thrown out the window. Which meant that a HUGE part of the girl's tactic (guerilla warfare) was useless, which is really unfortune because most of the girls couldn't pvp head on
I thought a huge part of the girls plan was defending with all their traps and networks? Why would they organize an attack with some hiding, some defending, some trying to flank, and some head on? You’re bound to get surrounded if you don’t have the numbers. Honestly I thought it would’ve been better for them being on the defensive and The Bold Moles doing guerrilla warfare on their side, since they have a homeland advantage.

Alright, so a few minutes into the video, I can just say that Mr. Beast needed Ish in the video because he is the only one who can make the video more likable. I think the video is an interesting spin, but the inclusion of a prize pool distorts the naturally emerging story of a civ server; having money on the line specifically contingent on players being dead railroads the majority into wanting a war. Part of what made Ish’s video so compelling was that all of the conflict was completely emergent; there was no reason to engage in war or politics beyond whatever reasons they themselves created.

People underestimate how big of a difference there is, between an actual good player and a casual player. Swight, the number 3 pvper was in the event. He could easily take out entire army of casual players

this is exactly what happens, i wasnt surprised at all that the girls side had problems with sexism, not having enough experienced players who wanted to participate/got invited to participate, and others buying accounts to sabotage the girls, this is always what happens, its never a fair fight. Not only that but this plays so much into gender stereotypes (the guys side choosing war over peace, making the girls side look weak and the guys side look strong. Also this is a much smaller problem, but the whole girls side only having pink trees and the guys side only having blue trees, like why... As well as a bunch of other stuff)

I despised the concept of this video, it felt like such a lazy ripoff, SO derivative, so I decided to not watch it, and instead wait for Ludwig’s video on it. I am very glad I waited.

Also just want to say ive been in a Mr. Beast Gaming Competition and they are horribly moderated, in my experience there were always racist and sexist things happening on the servers with mod team not caring because they would "edit it out" and there are clips of Mr. Beast saying weird things to people in calls during them, there is a clip behind the scenes of Mr. Beast telling an obvious minor contestant to use their money to "buy a 50 gallon drum of lube" and many people lost due to the mod team poorly thinking things through and not understanding their own rules. To even participate in these, you have to sign a document stating not to discuss it until after, or you could face legal action, and it wasn't a good experience at all for the competitions I participated in. It legit was the whole Squid Game thing of poor people fighting for money, but it's filled with hackers and racists.
Its also the judging parts which are always bad.And the "random" events or crew doing stuff messing up things
Yes, in the event I attended (a building event), mods allowed a large number of people using schematics into the video, and I personally got eliminated because one of the plugins corrupted many people's builds, preventing them from reaching the finals. I was promised into the finals but they corrupted my plot, I spent a week of my life working for them just to get an "oopsies" but I dont care about that but more about how he was acting when the cameras were off, the stuff he would say with minors in call was just gross and telling because this was back before chris transitioned and was being innappropriate towards minors, in the clip that I have everyone stops talking and confused because why in the world would he say that with minors around, even dream tried saying wtf. its sad that Ish goes along with this all cause he was in the video too he was there and he genuinely makes good content but I find it so hard to support him with slop like this.

@BloopyTheRaccoon There is too much info for me to like actually say in one comment but I'll sum it up the best I can. So apparently a bunch of Russian men decided they were gonna use deepfake pictures and voices to get into the girls side to troll them and make their lives actual hell during the event. The girls team did really badly because only 5% of them knew pvp AND have played Minecraft before. The rest never touched the game in their lives so for the first half of the game the girls who knew how to play were basically teaching the newbies the basics because the Mr beast team couldn't find enough women who were eager to join so they'd take anyone, even if they'd never touched the game in their lives. The men on the other hand had to be really skilled players to get in and had to go through a review of their skills to get in. Later on some of the skill they needed sacrificed some of their man power to disarm the multiple traps left by the Russian men disguised as women that they left so the women would fail. There was no report system so the only thing they could do is ping the admins multiple times but a lot of the girls were too scared to speak up because of backlash. I believe the Russian men were eventually removed near the end of the game and replaced with more players who had never played Minecraft. Harassment galore. More happened I just can't remember off the top of my head. A lot of the girls on twitter spoke out on this issue

Someone from the girls team here; I was part of one of the tunnel teams, we called ourselves The Bold Moles
We made an entire maze of tunnels deep underneath the surface, that way if the boys DID manage to get in, they wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of where they were
We spent several hours in a secret tunnel at the border, waiting for it to drop. The plan was to break through as soon as it did, and then be able to flank the boys and pick off stragglers. What the mods neglected to tell us was that the border would fall above the surface, but anything underground would still be impenetrable. Which meant that when the border dropped, a TON of the girl's forces were deep underground, and had to dig all the way back out only after realizing that our plan had to be thrown out the window. Which meant that a HUGE part of the girl's tactic (guerilla warfare) was useless, which is really unfortune because most of the girls couldn't pvp head on

Honestly I thought it would’ve been better for them being on the defensive and The Bold Moles doing guerrilla warfare on their side, since they have a homeland advantage.

Alright, so a few minutes into the video, I can just say that Mr. Beast needed Ish in the video because he is the only one who can make the video more likable. It's done so...I don't know how else to put it, but pretty bad. Everything and everyone sounds so scripted. In Ish's video, everyone is ACTUALLY doing their own thing, which makes it more believable.

I think the video is an interesting spin, but the inclusion of a prize pool distorts the naturally emerging story of a civ server; having money on the line specifically contingent on players being dead railroads the majority into wanting a war. Part of what made Ish’s video so compelling was that all of the conflict was completely emergent; there was no reason to engage in war or politics beyond whatever reasons they themselves created.

18 months ago, having mr beast tied to this would have been great but after the past year, nah. Dude now supports Mohammed Bonesaw. When jimmy got his third set of teeth, that was when I knew the money and fame got to him.
