There's another woman by the name of "Kate Stone" that is famous in certain circles. She's a chemist from the U.S. and made significant advances in HIV research. She also brought two vaccines to market and a half a dozen or so drugs. In the New York Times best seller "Chasing My Cure", her research on Castleman's Disease is accredited as critical to saving the author's life. Always wanted to learn hand pan but they are so expensive. I worked as a professional percussionist for a while but never even heard of them until long after. I've played in a couple orchestras and symphonies, but even today they still don't have any despite having numerous tank drums. I wish more would adopt it, especially to use with haunting melodies like this.
I wish this instrument was incorporated in to more modern music. Its sound is unique and beautiful. I prefer this sound to piano or guitar if I am being honest.
