as someone who loved the original "17 again" movie, i was shocked at how much i ended up enjoying the korean drama version more. likely due to the difference in length, i really appreciated that it focused more on the mom and children. also, the weird attraction the daughter felt towards the dad in the original film wasn't in the drama version, which i appreciated lol.
I think the originals like jane the virgin, criminal minds and 17 again are really popular, well I guess it depends on the country, plus despite I watched both versions it still give me a fresh story, like I don't usually watch remakes because it has the same story, but koreans versions give their own color on it
I think kdrama remakes are made because the originals are popular, so in my opinion both original and kdrama remakes are equally popular and fun to watch again
Difference between the US remakes and Korean Remakes is Koreans make it into something new by using the original as a base while the US on the other hand make the exact same replica only in English
Not really in my part, I found some US remakes different to it source and usually they make it worst, there are some US remake shows I enjoyed but become worst as the show continues
17 again remake WAS just jaw dropping for me. i loved every single second of the episodes and while watching, i never wanted the show to end. it’s one of the best dramas i’ve ever seen in my life mostly bc i can relate to some of the issues. the casting, the script and everything is just simply perfect for me🌿
Little Women K-version is nothing like the American versions, of which there are several. I wouldn't even compare the two as being similar. In my opinion, Jane the Virgin is way more popular and better made than Woori the Virgin. I really enjoyed Romance is a Bonus Book though I didn't know it was a remake!
Correct! The Little Women K-drama just shares the same title with other Little Women shows before it but it has a completely different plot. It's a must watch!
Little Women almost doesn't fit the theme. It has the bones of the original book by Louisa May Alcott, but it's definitely a re-telling & re-framing. It's one of my favorite k-dramas to date. I had no idea Romance is a Bonus Book was a remake of anything. Another drama I really loved. I enjoyed that it didn't follow the usual formula for these types of stories. These are the only 2 I've seen on the list, so it looks like I have some more watching to do. 😉
I watched "Ordinary Day" while I was in lockdown for covid and it was one of the most enjoyable things I watched during that period of time. "Romance is a bonus book" is just precious, I can't stress enough how calm and mature everything is. If you like books, you'll love this drama. And "18 Again" is easily one of the best kdramas I've watched, the feelings in there are so raw and feel so real that I can't help but want to rewatch it again and again. It's no wonder Do Hyun won awards for this role, he nails it.
Romance is a Bonus Book, is such a nice easy series to watch. minimal cliche problems and unrealistic issues for the leads to go thru. Pretty much just mature people living their life and trying to find success and happiness. My only complaint was that the daughter was nearly non-existent in the storyline, and having a parent can't be that easy to just "forget" about your child. Otherwise, great drama series.
It was a great drama but nothing like younger the tv series at all. I don't agree with most of the information shared in this video. 17 again in america is super popular, little woman as well. And alot of people online found korean money heist to be boring because the plot and everything was same.
I've seen "Criminal Minds" (yaaay Lee Joon Gi!), "Romance is a Bonus Book," "The Smile has Left Your Eyes" (Seo In Guk was fantastic) and "Woori the Virgin" (lots of fun!) (loved Sung Soon!). I never knew they were all remakes (except for "Criminal Minds," which I had heard of but never watched.). This was a very interesting video, thanks for compiling it! 😄👍
I watched "Criminal Minds" because of Lee Joon Gi (he's great but I enjoyed him more in other dramas) but I have to say, it was hard at times because of the brutal crimes that were depicted. When it got REALLY bad I told myself "it's not real! It's only make-up! They are actors!" It seemed so real because all the actors were so good.@@Tooba-K123
I have just seen 18 again in this initially i didn't want to watch that drama as i really loved 17 again and had seen it like 100 times so i thought the same story repeated won't be fun but as many recommended me i saw and it is worth watching what the movie misses due to lack of time the actual struggle of parents and how parents do mistakes too despite trying there best the bond between kids and parents the drama portrait it really nicely it was so good it makes me respect my parents more and more after watching this.
The smile has left your eyes & Ordinary Day are my favourites, and both are underrated imo. Little Women I want to watch, but I'm hearing mixed opinions about it.
I'm just going to say this no hate or anything but I would like to see the research of where these K-dramas out did western classics. I do believe that some of them might but not all of them especially 17 again or criminal minds. But thank you for making this video I'm happy to know that some of my suspicions were correct.
You're right that not every kdrama outdid the original ones but 18 Again and Criminal Minds really did received lots of praises for both storyline and acting. Both got awards. Smile has left your eyes, Woori the virgin, Romance is bonus book fell short compared to original versions.
From those i saw only 18 again and i also watched 17 again, the'yre similar but have some differences that make me say both are good in their own way but if i have to choose 18 again i liked more.
watched "Little Women", mainly because I liked the Korean cast, and also I own all the "Little Women" movies. But other than the title, found no resemblance as far as the plot, really left me a bit puzzled.
There was one before that with a an African American one that came out before Zac Efron, it had twin sisters get into a bad experiment from their younger brother and they turn into their divorced grandparents. The original spells out the word Seventeen and it came out in the year 2000.
Korean dramas are bound to be better than even the original ones. Criminal Minds have a special place in my heart(USA ver) it was thanks to this show that I knew what I wanted to work at and after all those years of struggling I was able to reach my dream job so it's hard for me to say the korean version for this one was better .
Jeane the virgin comes from Juana la virgen, a Venezuelan telenovela, nothing is better than the original one, nobody can't have the mojo of Daniela Alvarado, looks on you tube, you will see.
the title of this video is basically a lie, espicially for the american movies/tv shows.. both the original and the remakes are good, they should've just said they were remakes not that they are more popular
Just wanted to point out there was already a movie name Seventeen Again so the zac efron one was also a remake. I'm saying this cause it seems like a lot of people don't know about it.

It wasn't as intriguing as the original) 3. 18 again - 7.5/10 ( comedy/fun/emotional) 4. The world of the married - 7/10 ( It might be a 9 for others. But I was so frustrated while watching it. I'm murder mystery type girl. So this marriage drama was too much for me.) 5. The smile has left your eyes - didn't watch (added to the long list of unwatched series 😭) 6. Romance is a bonus book - 9/10 (Such a wholesome series. Nice story, great cast, cute romance) 7. Woori the virgin - 4/10 ( The ending was so weak and unrealistic. Watched till the end for nothing. I have watched many series where I didn't like the ending or the whole series. But damn this topped all of them. I was so angry and annoyed at the end for wasting my time by watching this trash.) 8. Ordinary day - didn't watch 9. Designated Survivor - 8.5/10 ( One of the best political/mystery drama) 10. Criminal minds - didn't watch ( It sounds good though, gonna watch it soon)
