He had other drivers offering to help out too. Those days are gone forever,and it's the loss to these new tank top shower shoe wannabes .keep your head up and don't look back. Luke ch 9 vs 62. Keep your hand on the plow and don't look back. Safe travels

I had complete confidence in you that you would fix it !! When you have a few spare dollars I would highly recommend you get a large tent or something to pull the truck under when you are working on it to get out of the sun..........also get a large out door / shop fan ........ Working in the heat drains your energy .......and for me makes me lose my temper faster. Just a thought. Great to see you are back on the road.

Before I retired, I noticed that they were moving towards that cheap plastic loom. I see that it just doesn't stand up, getting brittle and sharp. Perhaps, next time you run into a wiring issue, there is a better quality aftermarket loom use can "sub" to protect those vulnerable wires? Congrats on the successful (and money saving) repair! I think I enjoy watching you work on the truck as much as I enjoy watching you on the road. Martin, you are a true professional and Alice, you are a great business and family partner, too.

6:19 I’ve seen that happen several times, when I worked on transit buses. More often on the Allison transmission harness, near the transmission. Gillig ( coach mfgr. In Livermore Ca ) used a rigid split loom. Operating vibrations allowed the wires to rub, like your example.
Good job. Every time i have go to get something fixed I always think i could have done that myself, just it would take a big box of beer for me to do it, and maybe a day to recover 😎
That’s what’s awesome about old equipment, you can drink that beer, then recover and it doesn’t stress you to go out and run that truck to pay the payment 😂😂
Wiring harnesses in commercial vehicles are built so crappy. I'm not surprised the shop wanted to charge so much in labor. The experienced mechanics want easier jobs and the new guys tend to break stuff. That high labor rate is insurance against the customer returning with more issues. Mad props to Martin for fixing it.

Wish I would have got to your last few episodes earlier as I had the exact same issue with my W900 and I could have told you and maybe saved you the diagnostic charge. I live in Western Canada (Calgary) and KW is just as bad here with labor costs, so I installed my own harness as well. Anyways I guess "thats truckin"..LOL.

Another guy with less skill, 1500 miles from home may have had to bite the bullet and pay the 7k or make life changing decisions under duress, after all the dealerships really want you to buy a new truck from them. I don't see that as good business, I see it as a predatory business practice that should be illegal.

Saw the truck in Eugene, OR going south bound on I-5 on Wednesday. Tried hollering at him on the CB, but I was going the opposite way, so I don't no if he was able to hear me.

We're about to replace the harness today... same exact wear caused by the loom. Throwing codes, and draining the batteries. X15 Cummins 605.

I routed it similarly but took some stress off of it.

I think those had 100k on them, sometimes they just fail.
You are so lucky to have the skills to be able to work on Fancy. You might want to start looking for an independent shop, get recomondations.

The loads I was running are no longer being sent out might have to hook back up to the cattle wagon. The market is terrible right now. 🤯✌🏼❤️

Martin , you the man. But please tell me why you didn't take and put the truck in your Air Conditioned shop to work on. It would have been much cooler. Where you live and the heat, the shop should be a priority. Is the winters there just as brutal ?

No winters here are mild, 60s during the day mostly.

Saw the truck in Eugene, OR going south bound on I-5 on Wednesday. Tried hollering at him on the CB, but I was going the opposite way, so I don't no if he was able to hear me.
I hollered back lol.
If you can find the breaks and fix them youll have an extra harness for use or to sell to make back some of your output $$
