    Great video, perfect for encouraging the newcomers to mackerel fishing. The only thing that I would say is for newcomers to be aware of the minimum size limit which is currently 30cm in the UK. Other than that keep the videos coming my friend!

    I've been a keen carp fishermen for years and went back to sea fishing this weekend down st ives. Caught a mackeral on a spinner. Do you tend to stop the spinner half way in also to let it sink back down again , as I'm assuming when you constantly reel in the spinner will be on the top of the water half way in? Or do you think it stays down. Also I've never gutted a fish as I'm a carp fisherman. You made it look really easy to do . Was told you have to gut the fish etc. You made no mess! I released my mackeral too as it was big

    • @TheEastbourneFisherman
      @TheEastbourneFisherman  4 года назад +1

      Tom Green hi mate thanks for your comment
      I tend to vary my retrieve so the first couple of casts I reel in fast then a little slower then reel pause for 3 seconds reel pause. Gutting then is easy just fillet them like I did in the video it leaves the backbone and guts and gives you the fillet nice and easy. Keep the heads in a bag for bass bait :)

      Best times to go are early morning or before dark, they come in on the high tides so i would suggest go about 1 hour or 2 before high water and fish it up and back down.

      Gabriel Barbu no problem mate thank you for watching my videos :) and welcome into this fantastic sport
      Your items are fine for mackerel fishing and you will still catch the only problem I find with the longer rods is that you will tire quicker eg casting and and constant reeling in
      I like to use a 12ft rod if I’m fishing feathers to collect mackerel for bait
      Or a smaller 8ft rod if I want to feel the fish more and get more sport from it
      Mackerel put up a good fight on smaller rods and are surprisingly fun :)
