Great video, perfect for encouraging the newcomers to mackerel fishing. The only thing that I would say is for newcomers to be aware of the minimum size limit which is currently 30cm in the UK. Other than that keep the videos coming my friend!
Another good video many happy times and fish as a teenager some good size live baits for conger &bass there, my dad use to fry them then put them in abig bowl then cover them with vinegar onion pepper corns leave in fridge for a couple of days OMG so tasty. Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Nice fishing trip. I also love mackerel fishing. I like it so much that I even make my own lure (sabiki and Christmas tree rig). Watching from Maine, USA. 👍
Well that was a fun, and productive, session. Need a bit of bread and butter with the cooked mackerel though! And please, please, please keep your fingers behind the extremely sharp edge of the filleting knife! Keep safe and keep healthy. Cheers. Ken
I will have to try with the bread and butter :) I will be more careful with the knife was risking it a little wasn’t I ! You to mate :) thanks for watching

Excellent teach and cook video, my second favourite eating fish, needs very little seasoning, but I squeeze a bit of lemon on them. Unfortunately I can only get supermarket ones and they are no substitute for the fresh fish. What's that now 5 times fishing without a blank?
You're lucky thats the mackerels come so close to the beach.🎣👍 Here, they are in 15m depth +- and can catch them only from the boat. Nice action 🐟👏 and bon appetit 🥂

i recently bought a Advanta RTF Spin Combo 6ft (1.8m) 10-30g/30FD and was wondering what type of lures to use with this and would it be any good for my son to use (who is 15) when i go pier fishing just to cast out and try to catch some fish?
As said in previous convos on social media I would use soft plastics off a pier and maby jig them up and down you will be ok catching just the landing may be difficult depending on the hight of the pier, possibly get a drop net if it is high
Hi depending on where your located in the world i would check on your local fishing laws for your country If in the UK you dont need a licence to fish the sea But i would check with the local ifca rules on sizes of mackerel you can retain :)
Keep_Burning I have caught them in all states Usually clearer the water the better and calm But recently I have caught them in rougher weather with a blow I never call off a session I fish it through unless there is a danger to life or it’s too windy / rough
I've been a keen carp fishermen for years and went back to sea fishing this weekend down st ives. Caught a mackeral on a spinner. Do you tend to stop the spinner half way in also to let it sink back down again , as I'm assuming when you constantly reel in the spinner will be on the top of the water half way in? Or do you think it stays down. Also I've never gutted a fish as I'm a carp fisherman. You made it look really easy to do . Was told you have to gut the fish etc. You made no mess! I released my mackeral too as it was big
Tom Green hi mate thanks for your comment I tend to vary my retrieve so the first couple of casts I reel in fast then a little slower then reel pause for 3 seconds reel pause. Gutting then is easy just fillet them like I did in the video it leaves the backbone and guts and gives you the fillet nice and easy. Keep the heads in a bag for bass bait :)
OscyvizionReal hi mate thanks for your comment The water is really dirty atm and full of sea weed I have been out loads on lures for bass and had no luck we need this wind to go and the water to clear again with warmer weather for the mackerel to show again :) don’t give up
you could always try a shockleader ( or a thicker braid )even when feathering for mackerel , at least explain this to beginners mate , anybody can get a lead and a set of feathers flying behind . an .ear, if you know what I mean . Tight lines
Hi Emma thanks for taking time to comment, mackerel are more present through the summer months Best times to go are early morning or before dark, they come in on the high tides so i would suggest go about 1 hour or 2 before high water and fish it up and back down. Hope this helps and happy fishing :)

When i was 14 i loved white bait fry bait what ever you wanna call it tried it again last week not the same man and im now 37
David Gabb it’s too fishy for me if that makes sense I think frying it in flour is the best way tho
when you hook a mackerel stop winding and the one you have on will work the feathers and attract the others giving you a full string

hi. i'm local in Seaford. what time of year can you fish for mackerel?
Hello :)
Usually they start to show around July and last till end august sometimes into sept
Hope this helps :)
Can you please tell me the name of the clip you used,,
Julz Deltorr hi mate it’s the trident tackle terma links
How long is your fishing rod?
For mackerel fishing 8ft usually as more of a fight but can be up to 12ft
What size of hook you use 8 or 6
Mont Bash hook size 4 mate :)
I know you can just buy bait or keep mackerel for bait but do you keep any of those small bait fish washing up for bait?
Deffinatly mate usually keep a load in freezer bags
Make great tipping baits
Aim for the rounder bigger ones
You need a cool intro
