My tort refuses to eat the prickly pear, I live in canada so it's much harder to grow things but in the summer time I plan to hopefully locate some good grasses and plants to grow outside for a while. Awesome video!

I have been doing a ton of research on what types of grasses or weeds you can feed a sulcata, but I have a question about something you mentioned in your video. You said that you only feed your hatchlings a couple times a week. I do not keep my sulcata hatchling outdoors so he is not on grass and cannot graze freely. How often should I be feeding my sulcata and how much should I expect it to be eating?

I'm having a hard time finding the cactus without the spines on it, I take a knife and scrape it clean, are the cactus with the spines on them just as good? And I feed my sulcatas a mix of Mazzuri LS diet mixed in with timothy hay pellets , i soak it in water and server, and i give cactus without the spines on it, This is there diet during the winter, and i let them graze in the yard during the summer. Goldenquorum it is recommended to only provide weeds flowers and grasses for grass eating species. Only some types of tortoise can digest protein and fruit/veggies.

Mature romaine leaves and iceberg for water. Baby bok choy, chopped brussels sprouts and broccoli for calcium- there are many more! lightly spray their food with water before you feed them. They like a safe covered place to sleep at night; give them that. Make sure they have a warm place during the day- a lamp that supplies UV sunlight is best. I put a "curtain" on both ends of their den so it's dark inside. It makes them feel like they are safe from predators, and they know how to use it. I use natural clay litter, unscented of course. Odor free and easy clean up. They like it too!

Kamp Kenan I wouldn't add veggies to their diet. Flowers and plants are best.

You shouldn't keep your tortoise in a tank because it won't get the correct air circulation like it would in a table top enclosure etc
