@JP_112 Gators canceled all the games in the late 80s and 90s cause Miami dominated. From 1983-92, Miami had the most impressive 10-year run ever. FU would be lucky to achieve anything like that my guy. Miami fans have more respect for FSU cause they actually played us. FU is third in the pecking order my guy.
Florida is a SLEEPING GIANT!! They’ve been down for way too long!! Since the Spurrier and Urban era’s, the talent has always been there, but they’ve had trouble getting the right coach. I think they may have hit it right on this one? Just seems like Sumrall understands the history and culture at Florida and more importantly has built an all star staff around him unlike past administrations. Now, he just has to prove it on the field!
I agree Billy had some good infrastructure in place he just failed where Sumrall seems to be getting so much right. For example Billy's coaches he brought from ULL all retained their titles as OC,DC, etc. Sumrall on the other hand gave all his Tulane guys demotions. Craddock his OC is now the QB coach because he knew that Buster Faulkner hire was absolutely crucial along with the OL coach Trautwein. Same goes for defense the Tulane DC is how LB coach because Brad White and his SEC exp was vital. He oversaw some very good defenses and quite a few draft picks with Stoops at Kentucky.
Sumrall seems like he's doing everything the last Head Coaches failed to do. For example, Muschamp get the right OC, MacEliewn having a strength coach, Mullen recruiting and being involved in NIL, Napier giving up play calling getting an actual OC and trust his OC/DC and be CEO of the team.
