The Poolrooms having sunlight gives off an odd vibe tho
I really like the depiction of entities as these kind of low poly render fluid shadow shape things. I think being chased by something that is obviously hostile but shows no humanoid features would be so terrifying to the pattern-recognizing human brain.
Not to mention the obvious nod it makes to the idea of Backrooms having sort of video game logic
To be honest I'd rather by hunted or engulfed by something fluid or shadow-like than by giant spiders, monsters, animatronics or whatnot, and I bet so would you if it came to that 😛
I think what you are saying makes sense. The inability to identify what we are looking at makes it scary. If you cannot identify it, you cannot instinctively infer its intentions. Or, at the very least, speculate at its intentions.
The unknown is the most terrifying thing to us humans because we inherently can't identify it and, as such, can't understand it.
This is why the best horror films show very little of the monster, or give very little information about it.
Once the monster is fully understandable, the fear of that monster is no longer as effective.
It's not that impressive, 3D logics makes sense, let's see how it looks with more animations.
This tape was found in a VCR player & huge 80s TV set playing in the backrooms

I just love the added detail of Daisy Bell being played at the start of the tape.

Some may call this hellish. I call it heavenly. I understand this closed loop universe. It is the cornerstone of my religion (Dreamer Faith). The sign of a true master of this universe is someone who befriends its creatures; wherein the creatures are fiercely loyal and protective of you. You know each by name. And you feel at peace when you're with them exploring the endless universe together. I feel at home when I see these videos.

I'd like to know the psychology behind what makes these feel familiar/nostalgic to 80s/90s kids. The pool rooms are ridiculously impractical, and no place quite like them has ever existed.

There's no explanation for it iirc, but the Poolrooms are like as if an ai designed them and as they go on their design makes less and less sense. And they do look nostalgic, imo. Idk why. They just do

The VHS visual quality. Especially from recording things from television with a VCR and cheap blank tapes. America's Funniest Home Videos. Or if your family had enough money, your memories. Otherwise it would be polaroids and photos from disposable cameras.

I used to have dreams where I was in some kind of pool/spa. Warm water was cascading down every wall. It was awesome. Very similar to the pools in these videos.
Did you also dream of timed events where you had to cross some room because there were walls comin down?

Falling in the Backrooms must be like being on the moon’s gravity. When he slid from the pool rooms into the lobby that was a big height. I would have either broken a bone, bruised or walking with a limp.

There's a google earth location that when zoomed in all the way to what looks to be random rock formation, it becomes a fkn room. A room which the dimensional properties change depending on the angle.

One of the first dreams I ever remember having (I was like five or so,) I was walking into a Walmart with my mom and when we entered the automatic doors in the front, instead of it being a floor, it was a deep pool. This is the exact same feeling.. I fell into said pool and I was scared but only because I didn’t know what was happening and at the time I didn’t know how to swim yet. As I got older.. that dream brings me comfort. I love this video so much because of that
