Even a horse nip (rather than a full on bite) is nasty and horses that nip are a nasty nuisance. They don't realise how much their nips hurt others because even when they scratch an itch on themselves by nipping and pulling their own skin it is quite a rough nip for others but not so rough on them. I had to stop one horse from just pinching my forearms with his lips (still hurts though less than a nip) by pulling his head down and nipping his ear tip. Well! He looked at me with such a reproachful and shocked expression. Then I showed him my bruised forearm, which he examined carefully down his long face and gently touched it with his soft quivering lips and I knew he was sorry and I gave him a head hug. He never did it again. Not because he was afraid I would bite him again but because he realised he had been hurting me unintentionally. He had a great sense of humorous play and thought he had just been making a harmless funny joke of it.
@lewis8423 that is the way most mammals learn. That's the exact reason socialization when young is important especially to herd and pack animals so they can learn their strength and when they are being to rough. You think a mare's never taken a chomp out of a foals butt before? Same thing.

Horses are omnivorous, people forget that.
They're herbivorous by definition. They can and will eat small amounts of meat if given the chance as far as I know, but their digestive track is adapted primarily for consuming plant matter, and eating too much meat can cause them issues.
No they aren’t. If you wanna boil down the definition that far then every animal is an Omni vore since cats also eat grass and carnivores have been often observed eating plants like watermelons or other things since they benefit them. However that doesn’t make them omnivores. But it’s true, horses are known to eat animals same goes to other herbivores. Doesn’t mean they are omnivores tho
I call this horsehit
@HenriqueLSilva actually everything and anything can eat meat with no repercussions they ate "herbivores" because they specialized into the ability to eat primarily vegetation via evolution bybthe proxy of either not being reliably able to hunt down prey pr being in an isolated vegetation only type environment
@@stephenpatts90 they do get repercussions since their stomachs aren’t made for high doses of meat. They can eat some and be fine I agree but after excessive amounts they’ll probably die

@@Fredrick332 that’s now how it works when the health of animals is in question but pop off ig
U laugh when cat hurt someone, but when someone hurt cat isn't funny anymore? Stupid, very idiotic
Don’t own horses then !
Simple
@lewis8423 that is the way most mammals learn. That's the exact reason socialization when young is important especially to herd and pack animals so they can learn their strength and when they are being to rough. You think a mare's never taken a chomp out of a foals butt before? Same thing.
@@taurusrae7630
Birds too. I've seen.magpies (Australian ones anyway) after a while of teaching their young how to hunt and fish in the dirt for grubs and feeding them one or two themselves, lead them to the base of a tree, or a bush, while they, the parent, feeds themselves for a while. So the parent can easily keep an eye on them if danger threatens. If one of the kids comes running over to the parent begging for a grub, then that parent chases it back into place by pecking it all the way there and really hammering it down in place to stay there. The NOISE! It sounds like it's being murdered!
Of course the other one, the good kid, just sits there smugly throughout the screaming commotion going on next to it and it's rebel sibling doesn't try to leave it's place again until given the signal. Determined dangerous behaviour deserves a smack down in parent magpie rule.
I used to point this out to my son, " See even birds get angry with their naughty kids
