(5/18/2023) - Got my first stripe yesterday, can confirm its true *update - (11/16/2023) I received a 2 stripe promotion, currently 3 stripe white belt *update - (4/25/2024) I recieved my blue belt today. *update - (6/15/2024) I competed in my first tournament at the blue belt level at 1 weight class over my weight. I lost. Super heavy 220Ibs I weighed in at 208Ibs.
Can confirm, went there without realizing it was the gym from this video and the place is sharp as hell. Lukas is awesome. Also holy balls their mat is sexy
Where have you trained? I was at an academy once that gave you a tip after a certain amount of classes... whether or not you felt you deserved the promotion
I got my first stripe and I felt on top of the world, and it lit a fire under my ass and motivated me to want to train even more. Every session is humbling in the most grueling way.
That's about how I WALKED IN when I got my first stripe on my white belt. EXCEPT I walked in with a limp wearing a knee brace, a shoulder strap and a back support and with 800 mg of Ibuprofen in me and I was 73 years old,
@@ivelur9128 Funny enough I got my 1st stripe 2 days after I made this comment. I’m sure it varies from gym to gym, but I was told generally after you’ve done 21 classes or 2months of BJJ you should get. Technically speaking I think my ability to grasp concepts quickly, being early to class, & not spazzing while rolling made it happen.
@@mbealhighjumpi started march and been going everyday except weekends since then with one month of to recover from an injury and still no stripes but I do genuinely believe I’m about 4 stripe maybe even blue level
Really happy to see this one. I have to stop training frequently for personal life reasons and I always feel so awkward walking back Into the gym. This mentality is what I should have lol.
Hey, all you can say is BJJ stripes are earned. Each one of those little bad boys is an accomplishment, which leads to more humbling. An amazing journey!
That’s funny. I felt the opposite when I got my blue belt. I had a huge target on my back. Every white belt gave me their best shot so they could look good and get promoted.
My coach said “grown ass men don’t get stripes, you get new belts, not babying a bunch of grown adults” war ready! But congrats to anyone who does it is an accomplishment
I bet this guy says “jujitsu it’s like chess you just don’t know yet I tap people all day I’m also a really good teacher and an athlete” this is a lovely caricature in ways few understand
What sport do you do? In Bjj red is the highest belt it takes many years to get it. My has coach black belt and he has to wait seven years to get a single stripe on his belt
*Get’s tapped the rest of class*
🤣
Spoiler alert - this never stops 🤣
😂
😂

I thought this video was dumb until I saw the gym
Can confirm, went there without realizing it was the gym from this video and the place is sharp as hell. Lukas is awesome. Also holy balls their mat is sexy
it's called a DOJO.
@glenshea1967 bro I'm a blue belt. Nobody calls it that 🤣
Jiu-jitsu, one of the only disciplines where a belt actually means something.
Where have you trained? I was at an academy once that gave you a tip after a certain amount of classes... whether or not you felt you deserved the promotion

The 2nd stripe takes a bit longer. 😂
After my first stripe, I was a king. By the time I got my blue belt, I was trying to make sure as few people knew it as possible (in no-gi).
haha, completely. The conversation goes like this "Congrats on getting your blue/purple/brown belt" . . . "thanks, want it?"
Even the small detail were the way he tied his belt bro 😂
En la forma de atarse en cinturón, fue lo primero que me fijé.
Mine fell off. There goes all that wisdom 😂
What happens if it falls off? Do you just tape another piece on? I just started jui jitsu it’s an honest question lol
@@CoachKevanKillsitif it falls off all of your acquired knowledge fades away, that's why you must never wash your belt
@@NainoLoL😂😂😂😂
got my first at about a year after starting bjj at 50 yrs old, I asked the coach,,,,,, is this a mercy stripe, he says, no you earned it.
Ngl, I was walking around like Gordon Ryan that day
You feel like you could choke the bullets out of a gun, and those mats are stunning ❤
That gym is ridiculously clean. Marvellous. The new blue belt just ends up being wrist locked by everyone.
As a white belt with two stripes i can confirm this is true
Lame
Y lame??

Haven’t gotten my first stripe yet, but I promise this will be me! 😂
Edit 1 week later: I receive my first stripe today. I can confirm this is me! Lol
from what i heard getting it is pretty easy, you just go over the basics right? am hoping i can get my first stripe too

I got mine the other day; this is my constant inner mental state ever since.
Just got my blue today on Saturday… definitely me on Monday!!!
that Gi looks clean! Very sharp.
I like the improperly tied belt
Nothings more dangerous then a high school wrestler white belt with one stripe. Those guys are strong and full of testosterone
Need to change the door for the third though… 😂
Dudes 100% a cop
I got my first stripe one week ago, I’ve been doing jui jitsu for 3 weeks now! I got really lucky joining right before advancements 🎉🎉🎉
This always makes me laugh, so good
That gi is box fresh
Literally got my first stipe yesterday and this come up on my for you page 😂😂😂
Gets one stripe....swagger like a black belt.....hell yes.
It's so true, need to do an ego check and remember 95% of people in the dojo could smash you still.
😂
With great power comes great responsibility 🎉😊
Started jiu jitsu about 2 months ago! Feel like i’ve came so far already lol can’t wait for this feeling in the video
Lol that was sooooooo me when I got mine! Ate humble pie right after……
Just passed the gray belt test
I'm digging the white mats.
Cant wait to get my first stripe
I was a 3 striped white belt in 2019 but I had to stop because of COVID😭😭 I am now doing taekwondo, but jiu jitsu was a great experience!!
Right on point 😂😂
Got my 11th dan with a second stripe white belt yesterday. I've been doing Martial arts for 30 seconds.
Really happy to see this one. I have to stop training frequently for personal life reasons and I always feel so awkward walking back Into the gym. This mentality is what I should have lol.
Bro the mats are beautiful
The detail of the belt hahaha
bro that Gym is truly beautiful 🤩🤩
Yep, that’s how I felt lol.
Beautiful gym
😂 And I thought it was only here in Brazil that this happened. I've been like that too.

I felt like I did not deserve it.

Кто съел, мой Бомбастер?
"Ah, a mirrored video, explains the belt." *reads logo* "Oh no..."
I love it!!

As a white belt, can confirm
That’s so true

In judo this happens any time when the White belt get a stripe and think they can have me while im a Brown belt
yo first of all that is a very nice looking gym!
Me when I bought my gi for my first class
about to attend my first class tommrow
I'm a 4 stripe white belt and have two medals
So far I’m yellow in BJJ cause I gotta be 18 in order to do the proper ranks like white , blue , purple ,brown and black
This is how I exactly reacted, but except this is when I got my yellow belt in karate.
Yeah that was me. Now I just got my Blue belt, so it's worse 🤣
So ironic how I saw this vid right after I tested for grey belt and passed
My coach said “grown ass men don’t get stripes, you get new belts, not babying a bunch of grown adults” war ready! But congrats to anyone who does it is an accomplishment
Stripes are. Thing I just didn’t have any because sensei ranks me up a whole belt cause I have amazing skill😂
Yup this how i acted lol
Walkin’ mighty tall for a strip of electrical tape
Yo I remember that day hahaha
Belt tied correctly lol
