I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

    I love working timber with big bore saws. I used to use smaller saws because I thought the lighter weight would make up for the lack of power. Honestly, having more HP means you are in and out of the wood quicker so you don't have to hold up the saw all day. I run a moded 661 with an 8-pin sprocket and a 28-inch lightweight Sugi-hara bar. Man, it flies through the wood. I love that saw.

Stihl light bars are better from what I read. Still, Sugi and Sumara bars can hold their own. IF the 592xp proves to be like the 395xp in power & longevity YOU BETTER LOOK OUT STIHL LOVERS!!!!!

    Listening to her gear up and down when you get into good Deepwood is a sound I will never grow tired of hearing.
    Of course, you are a top-notch, professional, otherwise called a one arm cutter because you can cut better and cut more with just one hand than the vast majority of men on the entire planet, Can with 2 hands.

    I started my logging career in 1974 when I was working for Roesler Timber out of Sultan, Washington with a timber faller named Art Keck. We were in a stand of very high value poles and piling timber near Lake Cavanaugh. The two of us would drop the trees and then yard them to the landing with a C6 Terex crawler. Many of the logs were 120+' long. I would then follow the log trucks out to I-5 until they no longer needed a pilot car. It was a great way to start logging. Art always took the time to teach me as he went. This video brings back many good memories......except the damned Horseflies!

    interested to see how it works !
    I won't need one for quite some time yet I hope cause we just got a couple of new old stock 390's and we have the one 572 XP that hasn't been ported yet just a different muffler...so hopefully it will be some time before we need a new one.
    UPDATE..
    It's now a year later. I had a new in the box 390 given the treatment by a new Saw Shop and while there Our Son decided to have our 572 turned hot and he purchased a brand spanking new 592 and he had the shop go thru it and give it the "treatment" making it a lot more powerful and faster plus he swapped out factory muffler and kept the spark screen to stay Forest Service legal. We now have all the power heads back from the Shop and are working them hard everyday.
    I know the 592 has more power than my old school 390 but where the 592 has great top end speed to power ratio my 390 has the grunt that the 592 just don't seem to me anyway to have. Don't get me wrong the "92" is a fantastic powerhead but the 390 just seems to suit me better. We run 32" Tsumura Light Bars with square ground full skip chain because 100% of what we cut is Ponderosa Pine and Black Hills Spruce. We do a lot of Bark Beatle Killed and Fire Salvage jobs and the rest goes to pulp wood, framing lumber and top grade finish lumber. Right now because of the way the bugs stain Ponderosa Pine all the various natural colors, that market has exploded ! Homeowners doing re- models and New Construction as well as the Log Home industry has really placed a high demand on this big stained wood so that's 90% of where our $$$$$$$ comes from. We've been running our Power heads sometimes 2 months straight with 4 days off at times because we have our own family run logging Company and it's Me, our Son and Son in Law and one full time equipment operator who is basically retired and works for us just to keep busy, he skids, stacks, loads and hauls our logs to the local mills or the Son in Law does that job. Anyways long story short we have a place for both....our Son loves the new 592 & I prefer the new old stock 390...and both have their place.

    Yaaay!! Lol, that's Awesome Bjarne! I have a Husky Lightweight. Just a 28" though. Yeah, it was a bit heavier than I expected. Jus started the video so I'm anxiously seeing how the new saw performs. Seems pretty fast at this point.

    Nice saw sir! Be careful with those crancase that hold spike. They really thin. I think you should modded it like your 390

      The muffler doesn’t bolt to the oil tank like the 390 going to have to figure something else out for the 592 I am checking mine to make sure it is tite and not dogging it into stuff hard hopefully it doesn’t break

      I’m not sure that you can get a 3/4 wrap that has heat. Heated handle is a xpG but the 3/4 wrap is the xpW. But I’ve never heard of a XPWG. 😢

      @@mikegott3364 I hope that you have checked on it to be the 3/4 wrap. I’ve personally only ever seen the heated variety (even in the IPL) as a 1/2 wrap.

      @mikegott3364 Год назад +1

      @@ToddAdams1234 you’re not comprehending what I’m saying. I have the heated full wrap on my 592. I bought 2 heated full wrap kits. It’s your normal full wrap kit with the big spikes, hardware and the heated full wrap handle. I’d take a picture and show if I could on this thread

      @@mikegott3364 But a heated full wrap for a 592 doesn't exist I thought... Only the rear handle and standard half wrap comes heated on the 592 xpg. I Ordered one with a full wrap handle seperate and would love if it was heated. If anyone could post a link proving otherwise that would be great but as far as I know they don't exist.
