I was just a young kid when I first saw Daniel Boone. And the first time I saw the character Jemima I fell in love with her. But I think I also fell in love with Angela Cartwright when she was on the Danny Thomas Show. And I also watched The Sound of Music I loved her in that one as well. There's just something about the Cartwright girls that turns a young man's eyes
Fascinating interview. I just thought that she grew out of the part of "Jemima". Patricia Blair was so gorgeous. How silly of her to worry about a teen like Veronica. Having read the real history of Daniel Boone, the real Jemima got married young and moved on, so I didn't think much of her leaving. Thanks Rob.
And women got married so young back then! Rebecca married Daniel around the age of seventeen, and if she had Jemima even at twenty her sixteen year old daughter would only make her thirty six. They should have just married Jemima off and let her pop up occasionally with husband in tow. God help her if she brought s baby with her, lol. Better than moving over to the Twilight Zone,. That must be where she went, because we never saw her again!
Wonderful interview! Darby and Veronica are so great together in this interview; they need to do more interviews together. I didn't say "GREAT interview". because all your interviews are GREAT. SO just keep on "keeping on", Mr. Word and do NOT change a thing. Thank you for all the wonderful interviews you have given us.
I never made the connection between Angela and Veronica Cartwright until much later. I remembered seeing Angela when she was on Make Room for Daddy. It was either Daddy or Danny but it was the Danny Thomas show. I watched Daniel Boone every week and remembered Darby Hinton as a very small boy. Watching these kids grow up before my eyes was amazing. It also makes me feel very old, LOL.
Like many young boys during the 60s I had a huge crush on both Cartwright girls! Nice to hear Veronica is just lovely and sweet in real life! What a beautiful and talented lady!
The bird scenes, especially the beginning’s,of the bird attack as seen from above with a “bird’s eye” view of the action. Some of Hitchcock’s settings are indelibly etched into our minds. People loved the TV Waltons but they watered it down and made it so sugary sweet it made you want to gag at times. Thanks for some more fun back stories, Rob. These “girls” has been in our lives for decades.
itis such a joy to see Donna again She and I go back a long way together and she's still so beautiful and charming and enjoyed the Hopalong Cassidy.. I also had a lovely conversation with Gracie at a festival..Still so charming and beautiful...and she missed him very much Enjoyed the whole evening Rob .Keep this going..loved it and love you 😊
So glad to hear her say that about my favorite director Hitchcock. Her sister's co-star in LIS Billy Mumy says disparaging things because he had a bad experience, but I always think of him as that bratty kid in The Twilight Zone anyway. Veronica always did wonderful work, she was superb at highly strung characters and break-down scenes, like Children's Hour, The Birds, Alien, Witches of Eastwick, Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake, Inserts. Terrific actress. Critics singled her out for special praise. Always a favorite of mine. She deserved a much bigger career.
I've had a crush on Veronica my entire life! I really got a kick from her description of Daniel Boone unfolding himself from a Porsche! Thank you *so* much for this interview, Rob. And thank you Veronica. I ❤ you! 🥰
Veronica AND Angela, my childhood fantasy was to somehow live next door to the Cartwright family. I fit right between them in age... and my dreams. Both were wonderful actresses too. I LOVED Veronica in Alien... "I know that" classic!
Fantastic interview! They play back-to-back Daniel Boone episodes on my cable service Sunday mornings. She was also great in her adult roles like Alien and Inserts. No one could make a terrified face better than her.

Great interview again Rob very entertaining watching Darby and Veronica get together. Veronica is a great actress memorable in so many roles invasion of the body snatchers remake and I feel her best performance Inserts with Richard Dreyfuss she played a 1920s actress she should of at least got a nomination for that.
Delightful interview, Rob. I, like many others, had a major crush on the Cartwright sisters. Veronica was so good in Alien, receiving a Saturn Award for best supporting actress, but was also worthy of an Oscar consideration IMO
I have followed the Cartwright sisters, Angela and Veronica, for a long time. I was waiting for this interview for a while. I missed Jemima when she disappeared from "Daniel Boone." I thought that they should have her married and with the start of a family. Sorry to hear that Patricia Blair did that, but I wonder why Fess Parker didn't do something. It was nice to see her and Darby together again. I was a little disappointed that "The Right Stuff" role wasn't mentioned (or was that Angela). 😊👍👍

I've always enjoyed The Birds, but I was a fan of the Daniel Boone show because my ancestors followed Daniel Boone into the Eastern Kentucky area through the Cumberland Gap. I've watched both Cartwright sisters in several projects. It felt so familiar to see them, like the sisters that might live down the street. Very relatable. But thank you so much, Darby, for mentioning A MINOR CONSIDERATION. The work done by its membership is always behind the scenes, but effective and deserving of all the contributions people can send them. Paul (Petersen) never forgets my birthday, and even though I was just a stage actress, he offered to help me while I was homeless. Fortunately I was able to get housing on my own--well, truth be told it was a miracle of God--and Paul was among the first to congratulate me. I pray for him and Rana every night. When the movie, Elvis, came out, Austin's manager contacted me (I think she might have been related to Frank McGrath of WAGON TRAIN) because I had posted something about his demeanor on the red carpet that raised some concern. I mentioned A MINOR CONSIDERATION, knowing he had been a former child star--well, she wanted me to forward Paul's contact information, and with his permission, I did--but Paul was already on the case. He's so dedicated to the work of helping former child performers. Tom Hanks was already involved as well, helping Austin preserve his mental health. Paul needs more helpers. So if any of you former child performers out there are interested, please reach out to Paul or Darby or Alison Arngrim or any of the people involved in this worthy service organization--if you can't do the leg work, perhaps you can pull out your wallets and credit cards to help.
Our entire family quit watching when she left the Daniel Boone show, no one knew why she left but the show wasn't the same. Thank God Veronica explained what happened. I never cared for Patricia Blair after I found out what happened, Patricia should have been very ashamed for doing this.
DB was best its first two seasons. It really holds up as historic fiction in the 1st season where things are gritty and the stories were elaborations on real life frontier events in the mid 1770s. They could have said she went to school in the East because after all Daniel Boone was an educated man so I think that could have been believable. I grew up walking distance to the Pico studio. 23:30 At my junior high school, the girl I liked asked the new student, Billy Mumy what was his favorite tv show. He said, Star Trek.. I thought, traitor. I'm glad he didn't point his finger at me, saying that I was a bad boy. A very very bad boy. At Halloween time, I knocked on this one door. William Shatner opened the door, saying I was too old and it was too late. I still haven't decided what trick to do. A handful of years later, Being a student at Santa Monica College, we hosted a party. Mr. Spock's daughter came to our party. Her ears were normal. Living by the studios, so many characters seem to step out of my tv set. Even the TV set itself... In the early 60s, I was with my dad when we bought the set. The shop was on Pico Blvd... The shop owner, Victor Mature, the actor who played Samson.
If you love Westerns & our channel, you can show your support with a Super Thanks! 🤠

At my junior high school, the girl I liked asked the new student, Billy Mumy what was his favorite tv show.
