It explains a lot about him! About why he had those cages of felines and that while his resentment of Nicole is still largely influenced by what happened to his brother, a small part of it is also due to fear!
So as such, he sought to become as vicious as the one he deems a predator by becoming one as well! If that's the intention then cool!
