  • Today we compare the Ming Bow by AF Archery from 2012 to the new model of 2024
    Interesting to see the development in 12 years in bow making. The Ming is a very nice bow, draws very smooth up to 33” max out at 34”.
    Prices are very good and you can customise your bow quite a bit. Have a look on the AF Archery website.

    I fully agree with OdieHungary since Andrew from Australia was kind enough to send you his 12 year old AF Ming for your testing he does deserve the current AF Ming bow.

    Another great review, thanks Armin. Interesting to see the evolution of an already good bow. & nice idea to gift the improved 2024 bow to Andrew down there in Australia.

    so nice to see the developments made with this design. Also nice to see AF as one of the innovatots also of mass produced Asiatic bows. 12 years ago i still believed the mis information i was taught in school about the English longbow being the supreme historical bow design,which i now know with thanks to you, to be complete lies........... Blessings from England and keep the great content coming

    Two different bows with the same name. You could buy both at the same time. I had four of the nearly identical style bows that were made by IRQ. Square limbs tips and handle wrap were slightly different. I paid about 200 USD each for them in 2014. They had flat black glass face/back with bamboo cores and came with Fast Flight strings. No vibration or noise at all. Nice shooters they are still in use with friends who love them.

    Hi Armin, I hope you arrived home safe and sound! The workshop yesterday was great! I learned a lot again, after Danny's instruction😊
    I guess by now you know who I am, sorry for wearing a strange cap for half of the workshop, I was having fever since Saturday😢, needed it keep me warm.
    Hope we will meet again!

    I have an AF Tatar (#45, I got it with a carbon core) that i got as a Christmas present for myself. I only raw to 32", so about #55 at full.... this bow instantly became one of my favourites, Fast, accurate, forgiving..... I'm looking forward to the apocalypse with this in my hand.... LOL

    I received the correctly modified but wrong bow from AF and they immediately re-ordered the correct bow which arrived in the stated time.
    It's a beautiful bow with excellent finish quality and it's a delight to shoot
    I couldn't fault AF's customer service through ShanShan and I will be happy to buy from them again and recommend them 😁

      Nice to hear. I ordered a custom bow too but found no timeline for how long it will take (except shipping). Could you tell me how long it took for you from order to shipping ?

    First time reply, but I enjoyed your channel for a long time now!
    Thanks for the time and knowledge!
    I broke 2 new black ming’s within the first 50 arrows. Both the 42 and the 50 lbs delaminated around the handle! Gpp is 10.
    I still have a 45 sci cai, a 45 zhu ran and a 40 tatar from AF, and those are holding up fine.

    • @MrThewetsheep
      @MrThewetsheep 28 дней назад

      I had a black one also delaminate around the handle using ~9gpp got it replaced and the new one is still holding up. I noticed the new one is much lighter in color in the bamboo so i suspect they’re using a different resin now

      that's really strange. I kept that old Ming strung for 6 years straight, in all weather and moving house. shot it everyday with very different arrows. I only learnt about how to look after a laminated bow from Armin years later. 🍎🍏🏹

    I have a 32" draw so this AF is very tempting. I still wish you can get your hands on that AF Carbon Babylon. I've so many conflicting reviews on it and I think it deserves your expertise.

  • @VladMcMerlin
    @VladMcMerlin 28 дней назад +1

    I would put a longer string on the old one, to lower the bracehight (I think lt'll work, considering its gentle curves) and thus you'll get a 34-inch draw as well.
    With the original 50 pounds at 28, it will become a beast!

    Hello Armin! Have you heard of the polish bow manufacturer Lukbis? They are local here in Poland and their longbows are very reliable and quite inexpensive for the quality. My favorite from their offer is the straight bow(aka. English longbow). I have 3 bows from them already and all are excellent. Take care!

  • @josipzagar57

    A very wellcome comparison of two generations. Both bows are quite long at 57"and more suitable for my height (1,90m). Unfortunately both seem to be lacking something. I'mpretty sure that there were less wobbly and faster similar bows on this channel. Oh, I seem to have missed the information or you didn't say anything about your current whereabouts. Keep on the good work!

    Now. I chose not to add the takedown feature. However, I did order: carbon core, counter weight of 200g, colored handle, black, integrated bridge, Ming bow of 20# at 28". $326.00. A laminated bow. We will see how it does in the heat/humidity/dry. I am not fully trusting AF's spray coating materal. We will see in time.
