Love, love the picture frame with the black paint. I say make the handles gold to match the two chest of drawers. Great job on the bridal shower. Looks like it was a lot of fun.
My dad had the perfect answer for his secret to a perfect marriage..."Martha is always right!".. Martha was mom's name. I always loved that. Love your channel. They're both gone now..😢😢
Hi, I have been married for forty-five years. i am also Relationship Coach. The best advice I can give them is to tell each other what they expect from one another, also set 10 mins. a day to communicate to each other, turn off call phones and spend that time to learn something they didn't know about their partner. They need to try active listening really listen to your partner let them know you are listening. Communication and trust are the most important thing in a relationship. I really hope they try these exercises because they really work. I love you and Lisa I have been watching you since you first started, and you never cease to amaze.
The best marriage advice I was given (50 years ago} is to remember marriage is not a 50/50 proposition. It requires 100% effort from both of you. Love all the items today. As for the lamps, I think they are lovely but since they have been painted they aren't worth as much. I'd keep them and make them totally yours. Can't wait to see what you do next.
You have done a beautiful job on the dressers! I love them and the lamps ! I don't know how many mirrors you have in your living room. But I think a beautiful mirror would look AMAZING above the dressers! It would show off the lamps! Your home is beautiful!!!❤ you work so hard on it !!! We have been working on our home for at least 30 years. My husband is 76, and I am 66. We h a ve done all the work ourselves. I hope and pray we will be able to finish it ! I love your work. Knowing how to take on the jobs that you do ! YOU ARE AN AMAZING LADY !!! GOD BLESS YOU !!!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
This was a great video. I loved it. Your dressers look absolutely gorgeous. I am a subscriber to Lisa's channel. Thank you for answering my question I ask on your last video. Congratulations on the win. Can't wait to see what you all do to Ellie and Mac's house. Your living room looks fabulous.
Really enjoyed this video! All of it the dressers , candle sticks, lamps, wedding shower and the thrift challenge…so much fun. Love Lisa’s channel as well. Been a subscriber for a while. She has great content too!
Love how the dressers turned out!! The lamps look great on them, too!! What about an arched frame with a frosted design or antique mirror (that mottled look?) to put above the dressers? Looking forward to whatever it is you put there!
this year, we'll celebrate our 28th anniversary and for me, the key is communication! Neither person is a mind reader so get really comfortable talking things out. Also, never go to bed mad!!❤ your videos!!
Hiya...lots of laughter together, is my marriage advice. Plus I think even changing out those light switches lessons the value of the lamps maybe see if you can find a lamp restorer and they can get rid of the pain and restore it and possibly get the value of a little take care great episode as usual your house is looking great and more homey every episode xoxoxme,Bon Humboldt County California 🌲
Whenever you have those big disagreements, remind yourself of the promises you made on your wedding day and remember that this will pass, just be forgiving, after all this is the love of your life not a clone of yourself, so they aren't perfect, LOL and you will need the support of one another to get through those ups and downs life will be throwing at you. (celebrating 45 years in March) Somedays I love him more than life and somedays I could knock his block off like Rock'em Sock'em Robots, LOL. Each day brings something new to the marriage., make sure it is love growing and not resentment.♥Loved the remakes, they were all lovely. Hope you and Gregg are both feeling much better.
If the candlesticks are brass you may have a couple options. You can use white vinegar to remove paint. Since they are large it would be hard to submerge and soak them for awhile. Maybe wrapping them with rags soaked in white vinegar. Other option could be to gently heat them, which will expand the paint and it may peel off.
Never put one another down. Build and encourage one another. Never let the sun set on your anger. Forgive quickly❤Love your flips and fun times with your friends
I’ve been married twice the second time going on 29 years in April. The secret to success is being friends and take your time. We have a his mine and ours situation and all four are married. The best advice I have at being a good Inlaw is never take sides. Our children aren’t perfect and they must put in an effort.
Respect!! HUSBANDS AND WIVES SHOULD NEVER BELITTLE THEIR SPOUSE ANYWHERE TO ANYONE! If you have an issue to discuss, do it in private! Married for 53 years and never let anyone sit in his recliner when he came home from work tired. Also never hogged the closet as if his clothes were not equally important.
Be free with I love you's....Never lie so trust can't be broken and hang together. Let little things slide. In the hard times Never quit...let your love carry you. We've been together 36 yrs and friends for 41 yrs ❤
Love you in that black leather hat, so cool💘 The cabinets are so gorgeous❤ I hated the crackle, black looks so much better, great look💖 Beautiful shower, loved the yellow dress💕 There are a lot of compromises in a marriage, give and take, be grateful, lot's of hugs and kisses, and kindness always works💟
Homer Formby type product to remove paint from candlestick lamps safely. Then you'll have a raw surface to determine next steps that could possibly restore original look & value!? The frame update looks fabulous ✨
Natalee, you can do so near anything I hesitate to offer any comment. But, I have a lot of years on me, I have dealt with wood a lot, and I love wood. Please remember one name. Howard’s. Howard’s Feed and Wax, Howard’s Cutting Board Oil, and especially Howard’s Restor-A-Finish in the color of furniture you can dealing with (think I have 4 on hand). Add some 0000 steel wool for bad scratches. Throw in some Barkeeper’s Friend for almost any metal, but especially brass and silver and you’ll be set. These products have NEVER let me down.
If your drawers don’t slid easy, try this SPIT IT, this is a sliding compound that helps your drawers slid easy. I tried on my dressers and they slid like they were new again and they are over 30 years old. I got it on Amazon. Found out about it from a person that restores furniture. It is magic, put on the runners of drawer and the center wood runner.
I’d make a picture frame with molding and put a lovely piece of wall paper above those dressers. You definitely got a strap on them…although the lamps (even if not painted) aren’t my particular favorite….but that’s just me ❤
27:12 i envision framed wallpaper panel. black frame to pull from the flower art piece above the mantel. Marriage advice: Marriage isn't 50%-50%. Its actually 100%-100%. if you do your absolute best everyday
Is there a way you could remove the paint from the lamps and see how they underneath, therefore bringing them back to original and to what they would be worth.
After 54 years of marriage my advice is Patience!!!! Never jump to conclusions talk things out, be Kind and watch your words once you say something it is said and words can be hurtful so patiently think about what you are about to say and do you want your love to always remember you said that to them!!!
First of all i am so sorry you both got so sick I hope Greg is ok now, bless him. Having food poisoning is never fun at any time. I hope you are both feeling better. Stay away from fast food it convenient but that stuff can kill ya! My Father had food poisoning he had to be hospitalized too that was many years ago though. I think you did very well on the finds you got both on facebook and the thrift store. Your living room is so gorgeous i love everything you have done so far in your new home. The ceiling height is a bit scary but over all everything looks completely different than when you did the walk around when you got the keys before Christmas. Do you miss your other homes. We moved to our farm just before you did and i have left every thing as is so far i bought some new light fixtures and i am going to put them up in a short time when my grand Daughters come by to stay. I found an old light fixture on my last thrift visit and found a light fixture that was in their bedroom at our other house. it needed a lot of cleaning and polishing and the crystals on them were not crystal they were plastic and had lost their original shin so i changed them out after polishing the fixture and it is a beautiful chrome piece Ceiling light and it looks stunning. I have to put some art work on the walls but their room is the only room in the house that was drab and boring to me. Its also very much smaller than their other room in our old house. this is just temporary till my hubby does his new Man Cave then he will move his things over to there and the girls will have their own rooms when they come visit. You and i have similar tastes in furniture pieces Natalee. You scored hugh on them and doing what you did to them was a smart idea. i hope you decide not to paint them because it would be a shame to do that. Its a nice accent to the black items you have in the rooms that are in your home. They look amazing! I loved this episode my friend and it always looks like a lot of fun thrifting with you guys. I hope you do more of these videos. Marriage advice i was given is never go to bed angry which we have stuck too if it takes all night to figure out the problem. but i think you should respect each other and give them a little space of their own sometimes. I get like you when you know you did something but you cant remember doing it. I always get the company i order from send the confirmation to my email as well as on my phone. it helps me stay organized. this is too many things on your mind at once and the worry over the travelling and then you both getting sick, it has you flustered. I get like that all the time before i used my email for confirmations and i write stuff i want out of my head on paper or i am doing a little of something and then moving to the next thing without finishing the first two or three things. I consider myself organized now but there are times when i question my sanity. Your doing great Natalee you got this!
The picture frame is stunning! Love the two dressers, they are beautiful! Sorry both of you caught salmonella, that is horrible! Bless your heart! Love the candlesticks, adorable!🩵🩵🩵
You scored! If the original brass finish on the lamps is more to your style they can be stripped by a professional As nice as they are it could be worth the money. Since the awesome large mantle you made is a classic french country shape it would make sense to go with a classic but simple large accessory piece like an urn or oil jar That way whatever ever you choose to hang on the wall over the dressers will be the star and the accessories won’t be competing with the art or mirror. I like your idea of using trumeau mirrors It would look awesome with the style of mantle you have chosen 😍
Soak the brass lamps in white vinegar and that should remove the paint. You can use steel wool to help remove it - but keep watch to when the paint is removed so you don’t scratch the brass. You can also try acetone and steel wool but the white vinegar is the safer option.
Hii pretty momma('s)!! ❤ NataLee you look absolutely gorgeous, love the hat on you! Love the thrift video's of you and your besties together! And i love the gifts and flips! So sweet, you are a awesome friend!❤ Lots of love and TFS!! ♡
If you want to put some time into the lamps you can strip them. May not be your thing I’ll be stripping my grandmothers brass lamp when I get back to Florida. I had painted it years ago when I was young and foolish. Lol Im 70 now. Yikes !! Since I’ve been in Colorado all my to do’s were put on hold. Can’t wait to get back home Love your channel Natalee and that adorable husband of yours Hugs Karen
Wow Natalee. What a find !!! They are gorgeous What was the name of your favorite thrift store again. I’ll soon be back in Florida and of course I’ll be thrifting. Love it so much fun. Nice you have friends that share the same interest Thanks Karen from Florida 🌴💕
Thanks for watching Karen! I’m so glad you loved this video! 😊💕 the name of the thrift store chain is called Hope thrift and there’s multiple locations.
In case you want to try this in the future, your 'new' living room dressers look a lot like some of the old furniture I inherited - I use Old English Dark Wood Furniture Polish And Scratch Cover on them about once a week - just a dab on an old holey sock makes the finish look wonderful.
@@designedtothenines Hope it works as well for your family as it has for ours! A few drops go a long way, but since we use it all the time, it might take a bit more at first. BTW, in case the doctors didn't tell you, Salmonella are intracellular parasites, so either ivermectin or fenbendazol work ... we lived in Panama for 5 years, so are unfortunately very familiar with both plant-born and water-born parasites.
Hello 👋 ! It’s just funny to know that it’s as cold over there as it is here in Washington state! Anyway everything I do is so pretty! I love that gold and black fame/artwork you are so talented and such a beautiful lady ❤
My folks are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary next month. Dad is 96, Mom is 89. When Dad is asked what is the secret to their long marriage, this is his reply; "When we got married, I told Pat that if she would make the small decisions, then I would handle the big ones. I'm still waiting to make my first one. Haven't needed to make a decision yet."
Im so sorry you got salmonella. My husband got that before we were married and he ended up in the hospital , too. He always joked that his sister tried to kill him with her lemon meringue pie. Those dressers turned out great, and so did the frame. Love your shower game ideas...really cute.
This video was so much fun. I loved every one of your diy makeovers. My favorite was the picture frame and the 2 cabinet's/dresses. And you won the 3 minute challenge 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 The bridal shower looked like so much fun and yummy food. I'm so sorry you and your husband got sick on vacation. You both looked so happy in the picture you showed. By the way I've been meaning to tell you I absolutely love that you're letting your hair grow longer. It really becomes you. Thank you for sharing your incredible talents with us and will see you in the next one 🤗💓💕💞
NataLee if those lamps are porcelain try taking a razor and to scratch off the extra paint. Good luck. They're still beautiful ❤ Best marriage advice...Never go to bed upset. Talk out. Hug each other for at least 15 seconds several times a day.
My mother always said never go to bed angry. She and my dad were happily married for 64 years, so I think it worked!! Congratulations to Ellie and Mac and many happy years together!! ❤❤
I am so happy that you gracefully, beautifully hosted a wedding shower. I have a problem with a lot of 'modern' showers. If the bride, her mother, or her mother-in-law hosts the shower, they are saying: "Give Us Gifts". It is tacky. It is greedy, tacky, and nasty. Showers can be given by aunts, bridesmaids, friends of the MILs, church ladies, or even sisters if they are bridesmaids. If parents want the bride and groom to have gifts, they give them gifts. If the bride or groom want lovely things they can get a job. Showers are not highway robbery extortion events. (This is an opinion I adopted from a southern upbringing. If it is truly a regional set of values, I would like to hear from other traditions. P.S. To be a tradition, it needs to be at least one, [three or more is better] generation old.)
We have been married for 29 years and my best advice is learn to apologize cause sorry seems to be the hardest thing and be truthful with one another. 😊
My great thrift find yesterday I went and found a Rainbow vacuum for 26.99. Called a rainbow dealership and he will put another electric plug and check it over. $26.99 vs $1,00.00.
The dressers look almost mahogany. Are they dove tailed? Looks like they would go with my Dining room set! Find out age of them. The set that I have is almost 100yrs. The frame looks like made with some bural wood.
Thee dressers are so beautiful. Use them as is. You did a great job with the oil and the furniture pen.
Ya I would leave it as is lol those dressers are beautiful ❤️
The picture and frame are gorgeous!
Congrats to Ellie and Mac, what a sweet couple! Love the dressers, great find NataLee!💕💕💕
Love, love the picture frame with the black paint. I say make the handles gold to match the two chest of drawers. Great job on the bridal shower. Looks like it was a lot of fun.

The tall lamps were probably gold leaf painted to begin with. It’s a legitimate form of decoration. Check the description of them online.
From what I can tell, the picture with the authentic ones look very much the same as yours.
Is there a way you could remove the paint from the lamps and see how they underneath, therefore bringing them back to original and to what they would be worth.

I ran over here so fast I got whiplash. I'm just kidding. I love thrifting with my favorite DIYers.
You are the best! I love thrifting too! hope all is well💕
Tapestries above the dressers
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I really appreciate your kind words!

NataLee if those lamps are porcelain try taking a razor and to scratch off the extra paint. Good luck. They're still beautiful ❤ Best marriage advice...Never go to bed upset. Talk out. Hug each other for at least 15 seconds several times a day.
Would the linseed oil work on polyurethane to bring out the shine?
Yes. I believe it can be used even over a finished piece.
It's actually a comtometor. I used one in 1966 at Sears.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing what it was🙏
What does it do? At first, I thought it was a court stenograph.
Marriage Advice from 30 years of marriage. Respect! Both partners need to respect each other, it is the bedrock of any relationship ❤
Rub and buff the gold on it.😊
well done sweetheart, love the dressers. hope your man feels better.
Thanks so much! He is.💕
You can stop the paint on the lamps
My best advise is to pray with and for each other.
Great advice💕
My secret- humor, don’t sweat the small stuff
Best marriage advice is to pray together. Couples that pray together, stay together 💕
My mother always said never go to bed angry. She and my dad were happily married for 64 years, so I think it worked!! Congratulations to Ellie and Mac and many happy years together!! ❤❤
Over the chests, what about architectural pieces?
I completely agree that it should be a celebration of the couple! 💕
Where did you get the picture for the gorgeous frame? Love all the decor.
Would wait to paint after the oil, if you were going to paint? Or skip the oil and just paint?
Ask Dr. Lori. She's on You Tube about the lamps. She will know.
We have been married for 29 years and my best advice is learn to apologize cause sorry seems to be the hardest thing and be truthful with one another. 😊
What engrediants do you use for your cheesy potatoes
Just some chair moulding trim above the dressers.
Glad you left drawers natural. They appear to be chippendale. Great choice.
I loved how they turned out too! Thank you 🙏
My great thrift find yesterday I went and found a Rainbow vacuum for 26.99.
I’ll have to check on the drawers. But I do think they’re almost 100 years old.
Marriage advise is don’t sweat the small stuff. Decide before marriage what are the big things you will fight for. Otherwise let it go
