South Carolina Adventure Route | Jocassee 2022

- Lake Jocassee in South Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains is surrounded by some phenomenal adventure and dual sport motorcycle riding. Much of this riding is seasonal, as many gates are only open during fall and spring hunting seasons. But the payoff for good timing is fantastic! Follow along and enjoy some of what South Carolina and the South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR) have to offer!
*The South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR) loops through approximately 1,000 miles of rural South Carolina. Follow it, and you will see mountains, ocean, forests, countryside, state parks, historical sites, and quaint towns--all on a mix of paved and un-paved public roads (approximately 60%/40%). The SCAR also connects to the Smokey Mountains 500, the Georgia Traverse, and the Trans-America Trail (TAT), providing TAT riders with an additional rural coast-to-coast option.

Looks to me like that was an awesome time
Great vid and riding, wish still had my klr. Tiger 850 may or may not have been up to the task. Well, not the bike, the rider LOL
That’s how it is, right? Lol
I am 0-2 on those trips. first year i got sick and was stuck in the cabin, this year the air force got in the way.....next year is on for sure. thanks for sharing, cheers
Hope you can make it next time!!
That looks like a great ride with a great group of friends!
Correct on both counts! Thanks for watching!
What fun. Smaller bikes rule! 😂🎉❤
That looks Awesome. We were camping at keowee-toxaway a few weeks ago but didn't take my bike. Next time I'll have to try that. Looks like fun.
And again, looks like a great time!!
Great trip .
nice adv....you were in my neck of the woods. Love that area.
Nicely done
That sure looks like a lot of fun! Really enjoying my KLX too, but don’t have any areas around here like that to ride. It’s relegated to country road duty for the most part.
Nothing wrong with country roads, either! Thanks for the comment, and keep enjoying that KLX!
They seem like a good bunch to ride with.
Absolutely!
This is great, I have KLX 300 and am also enjoying mine, a fun ride on and off road. Hoping to ride/camp on a BDR this year, setting it up as a light adventure bike, plenty fast enough for the places I take it and wouldn’t want anything heavier off road. Ride safe!
Thanks for watching! I absolutely love my KLX, too!
Great looking ride Mr. Cox
Why wasn't Van and I invited??🤨
And I didn't see Captain Obvious neither.....
My first time here and didn’t know what to expect. You have no excuse next year, since I told y’all to block your calendars for the first weekend in December
Concur.
I will be there next year.
Any chance you could share the gpx file for the routes shown on your map ?
I don’t have GPX files for our actual rides those two days, but the SCAR GPX files are available on the SCAR website at www.scadventureroute.com
I'm local to the area, would it be possible to get more information on this? I'd love to ride it
I wasn’t leading this ride, so I don’t have the GPX tracks, but if you join this Facebook group (“Upstate SC Dual Sport & Adventure Riders”), plenty of members could point you in the right direction. Note that many of the roads are only open seasonally (typically during hunting seasons)
Are you a South Carolina local? I'm looking to get into dual sport, adventure and lower level single track riding but don't know of any trails since I'm newer to the area.
Yes, I am. THere are some good facebook groups that can get your connected. Try any of these: South Carolina Dual Sport & Adventure Riders, Upstate SC Dual Sport & Adventure Riders, and the South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR).
@@MotoTherapy Thank you I'll definitely check those out! Appreciate the video as well.
Hey thanks for that I live 40 minutes south of there, sold my 450 RL and just picked up KLX 300... I'm going to have to get up there before all the leaves drop!👍
Perfect time of year to go! Have fun!
Is there camping map on the SCAR? Do people take jeeps or UTVs?
The SCAR follows public roads, so vehicles used on the SCAR must be street legal. The SCAR website includes an interactive map with a “camping view” option:

@@MotoTherapy thanks
Looking for an update on how you are getting along with your Moto Guzzi V85tt?
Not much to add yet. I haven’t been riding it because I’ve been contemplating selling it, and I don’t want to add miles to the odometer. If I do keep it, I will definitely publish an update.
That said, about 2 weeks after publishing this video, my missing parts (heated grips and crash bars) mysteriously appeared at my door. They were originally supposed to go to the dealership, and I had requested (and was told by the dealer I would receive) a refund for them. I imagine the video had something to do with the surprise delivery. So, I installed the parts myself. I never did receive a callback from the dealer or Guzzi Customer Care explaining why/how I failed to get a refund and the parts suddenly arrived at my house-even though they both owed me calls.
Do you have a .gpx map file of the routes?
Downloadable at www.scadventureroute.com
Can you please send me this lactation???
Please check out 0:22, 0:48, and 1:01 in the video. I use maps to explain the location--it's a better explanation than what I could type.
@@MotoTherapythank you very much 👍👍👍👍
