Thank you for sharing your garden and knowledge with us. I’m a RUclips gardener too. It’s my 3rd year and ever year I try to get better. This year I’m trying intercropping/companion planting. I found your channel in my research. This is very helpful and I and so happy I found your channel because it has so much to offer. I hope we can learn more from each other as we grow our gardens and our channels!
Great tips! Comfrey also a great slug catcher. Just drop a few comfrey leaves on the ground and in the morning you’ll find all your slugs merrily cuddling to each other underneath. Pick them up gently and move your slugs away somewhere for the birds to eat. Your hostas are safe and your birds are fed )) I use a seedless variety of comfrey in my garden.
Hi nice tip re slugs! Yes Bocking 14 the sterile, seedless comfrey variety is the one we gardeners can use without fear of our gardens being over-run. Cheers
hello from Australia... just found your channel after searching for comfrey info..... terrific diagram at the beginning.... basic understanding .....thank you.
Ate comfrey throughout my pregnancy and walked everywhere. Healthy properties in the Comfrey. After I had my son. I lost weight of 10kilos from walking and eating comfrey for 9months Excellent herbs for glowing skin and hair and Liver cleanses people🙄😋
I've found information back to the 1500s on comfrey. It was used for pretty much everything. As far as the internet saying it isn't safe for consumption....the studies were done on pigs and rats. The rats were the ones who developed the liver issues after being fed 60% comfrey diet. Don't quote me lol I take it as an herbal tea.
Started with cuttings last summer filled trays with many leaf stem cuttings, poke the stem into wet soil with half of the leaf cut off in the shade and most grew.
We've actually seen center roots of Bocking 14 that were 6 meters deep into the ground. If the soil is penetrable enough (which for Bocking 14 it is where we live) it can reach way deeper than 3m.
Today I read that comfrey spray is good to get rid of or prevent powdery mildew. I’m going to dedicate one of the squash plants this year and give it a try.
Why? Would make it hard to dig for transplants and sharing. Mine is from my Grandmother's garden & over 120 yrs. old. Every 10 to 12 years I dig 1/2 up to give friends or move around the garden. Over 7 feet tall and this year it has bloomed for the 3rd time in Aug./ Sept. 2022 A must have to keep my bees happy year round.
Hi there, great video -thank you! I have a garden which floods from the River Severn every year, I'm worried about pesticides, and also sewage as it floods through the drains and sewers for the town. If I grow comfrey in this garden, can I still use it in my organic compost do you think? Or will the 'bad stuff' from the soil be transferred into the leaves?
If your job doesn't involve being paid for your artwork.... It should do!!!! If no-one else has said it I will, thanks for the extra effort involved doing the explanatory graphic work.... I for one appreciate the effort and skill. 👍♥️🇨🇮👍♥️🇨🇮👍♥️🇨🇮👍♥️🇨🇮👍
I am so upset I planted comfrey as a companion plant. It's impossible to get rid of if you put it in the wrong place like I did. No matter how hard I try, I can't get all the roots out. it just keeps coming back over and over and over.
Can comfrey be planting among blueberry bushes? I am getting conflicting information on that as some articles say it makes you soil more alkaline and blueberries like acidic soil. What are your thoughts?
Saying elderly should not use. My Mom had fractures and I put Bruise,, Tear, Repair which contains comfrey on her? Is it ok to use as long as less than 10 days ?
It's very invasive...as for the tea...dilute 1 to 100 if older and 1 to 200 if younger in fermenting. Dilute at the rate he said will burn plants..use as a soil drench only and do not folliar feed it...will burn the leaves ...
It is invasive in my raised bed! I have pruned it back. I want to plant my bush beans there but I’m afraid the roots will choke out my beans if I plant them????
@YeshuaKingMessiah it's a weed. It's spread over my 1.5 acres and I'm worried it'll escape into the bush around me. It was sold to me by a reputable nursery as Bocking 14 which should have sterile seeds but it clearly ISNT!
It seems we should be planting the all over, and reduce the dependence on artificial fertilizer, much of which comes from Russia. Nothing against the Russian people by saying that, just it's good to have independence
We love our comfrey! We use it as mulch, a compost activator and we make it into a healing herbal salve. The chickens like it too :)
Way to go Small Seeds!!
My sister sent me the link to this. I'm not a gardener, but am an arborist. So I'm learning. So I thank you for this presentation.
I love your drawings, they make the ideas flow off the page
Thanks - glad you like them

Loved your drawings. I missed my comfrey, forgot to bring some with me when I moved. Just got 3 small plants so I can't wait to get them growing.

One of my main herbs in my garden

Ate comfrey throughout my pregnancy and walked everywhere. Healthy properties in the Comfrey. After I had my son. I lost weight of 10kilos from walking and eating comfrey for 9months Excellent herbs for glowing skin and hair and Liver cleanses people🙄😋
I had a feeling it was safe to eat. a lot of sources try to say its not. How much per day and which parts did you eat?
I thought one couldn't eat it.
I heard eating to much could cause liver toxicity.
If you Google search it here in the US they say it causes Liver damage , but we know how they twist and lie to keep us going to drs

Great advice. Very clearly presented and informative. Cheers from Melbourne, Australia ; )

Thank you for the knowledge. I’ve ordered comfrey seeds (or roots) and I’m very excited to get going on growing comfrey under all my fruit trees 🌳👍🏽
Another top notch production, thanks, learning so much.
I subscribed because I loved your drawings! Also thank you for the comfrey info. I just bought 5 root cuttings and can't wait to plant them.
Thank you for the good info!
Quick informative and to the point.

Did it work and do you know if it was the seedless comfrey plant?
Great info I just hot my first comfrey plant today so I'm going to pot it up in an old washing machine drum with the bottom cut off
Perfect - great idea!

I love growing comfrey. Susie
Do you know why my comfrey isn’t getting off the ground? It remains a ground cover. 🇦🇺
wish you were in Ausi... would ask you around to help me understand what is happening in my vegie garden...... :)
Thank you for this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Why not apply ferment airlocks and once it's done fermenting then apply?
What a fantastic video 🙏🏼
Trying to grow some. My soil is 9nly about 1 foot deep. Then its sand then its rock hard sand 1m down. Will it be ok?
Hi John, yes comfrey should be just fine - it will find its way down through the layers.Good luck
Will it thrive in central Virginia
How do you get it to be so tall?
Excellent! Thank you
You are welcome!
Hello, Have you tried pouring in some molasses in the tea mix? It may change the smell...........
Wow Amazing thank you
Most welcome 😊
What can you teach me about comfrey causing liver cancer? I use the salve daily two to three times mixed with other herbs and oils.
I am so upset I planted comfrey as a companion plant. It's impossible to get rid of if you put it in the wrong place like I did. No matter how hard I try, I can't get all the roots out. it just keeps coming back over and over and over.
Do they go that deep in a fairly high water table?
Will my bush beans grow in my raised garden bed even though the soil is full comfrey roots?
How is it as a forage?
Thankyou. I am from India. Can you send me 3-5 roots here for planting?
Beautiful plant but how many times you can cut it?
A lot
Our comfrey is on its way ♥️ We had a hard time locating it in our area, and have just recently found it through trade.
Great - enjoying growing a great companion plant Krystal!
Helo. Can It be spayed on the leaves or onli in the root Thank you
Yes by all means spray on leaves as a foliar feed.
Can comfrey be planting among blueberry bushes? I am getting conflicting information on that as some articles say it makes you soil more alkaline and blueberries like acidic soil. What are your thoughts?
The only issue with planting comfrey around any other plants is that it can take over and you'll unlikely to get rid of it 😊
When does comfrey flower & does leaves get really big? My husband tried to get it started several years ago.
Comfrey flowers from early to mid spring depending on location. The leaves can get up to 30cm long
great info how long does the comfrey tea last once fermented
I would say at least 6 months to a year - if kept covered in a cool, shady spot
Anyone know answer to below ?
got a question, can the dried root be used to propagate a new plant? Want to grow the plant but only the dried root is availablle.
I don't think dried root will re-shoot.
That comfrey it's huge! What strain is it? Blocking 14 by chance? Great video
Hi yes Bocking 14 so no seeding everywhere in the garden. Just the right plant where you want it! Cheers
Please can I get comfrey seed to buy from you. I am in Ghana
#Beautiful
Saying elderly should not use. My Mom had fractures and I put Bruise,, Tear, Repair which contains comfrey on her? Is it ok to use as long as less than 10 days ?
Hi we can't advise you on this I am afraid.
It's very invasive...as for the tea...dilute 1 to 100 if older and 1 to 200 if younger in fermenting. Dilute at the rate he said will burn plants..use as a soil drench only and do not folliar feed it...will burn the leaves ...

hi do you sale fresh comfrey leaves
Sorry no we don't sell plants. You should be able to get some at your nearest garden centre.
eBay and Etsy are good options; I just checked and for about 20 dollars you can get 10 pieces of the Bocking 14 cultivar.
epic videos my friend! keep up the great stuff, friends?😀👍😀👍😀👍
It's horrendous stuff. It seeds everywhere, grows so thick it's threatening to strangle all the lower storeys of my food forest and is UNKILLABLE.
Only plant it where u want it to take over
It’s so good for so many things so it’s very prolific
@YeshuaKingMessiah it's a weed. It's spread over my 1.5 acres and I'm worried it'll escape into the bush around me. It was sold to me by a reputable nursery as Bocking 14 which should have sterile seeds but it clearly ISNT!

Who said Europeans brought CONFREYS with them to the Americas? Its a lie, they did not even know how to farm before coming to the Americas🤠🤠🤠
Of course they did. What nonsense!
If they didn’t know how to farm how did the European civilisation exist?
