    Did you know that inside the pit has a nut that has amazing benefits? It looks like an almond and taste like an almond.

    • @kerschnerfarmstead
      @kerschnerfarmstead Год назад +1

      I do know that! It's actually what they use to make "almond" extract. However be very careful with dosage taking them because they are poisonous (cyanide).

    I just got apricots yesterday and was wondering what to do since I don’t have enough freezer space. I’m going to can them today.

    When you set your filled jars in the bath, do you have a silicone buffer or anything that prevents the jars from touching the bottom of your pot? Thanks!

    • @kerschnerfarmstead
      @kerschnerfarmstead Месяц назад

      Yes !! That's a great question we have a wire rack that goes in the bottom of the pot for a buffer. Your very welcome God bless and good luck canning.

    Thanks for the new info on the lids. Did you wash the apricots, and how?
    Now I want to see how you'd do this process "cold" - am somewhat confused lol!

    • @kerschnerfarmstead
      @kerschnerfarmstead 11 часов назад

      So to cold start when canning fruit you will start with cold jars, cold product and a cold canning pot. You will get your jars ready the same way only everything is cold/cool. Then put them in your canning pot filled with cold/cool water and bring it to a boil. Once your pot reaches a boil you will start your timer and process the same. I hope this helps!

    So that was how much water in cups or liters and how many grams of sugar? How may kilos of apricots and how many pint or quart jars?

    • @kerschnerfarmstead
      @kerschnerfarmstead 2 года назад

      OK so I use a medium syrup so 1 part sugar and 2 parts water. For 8 jars I used 4 cups of sugar and 8 cups of water and then I unfortunately did not weigh the fruit, but I know I used about 55 to fill 8 pint size jars. I hope this helps!
