I wanted to see Kasparas be more aggressive as a scorer, and he has definitely done that in over his last handful of games. Moving up a lot of people's boards...
Another very interesting player for the next draft who will possibly be in lottery positions. Watching the video you can see that he has evolved a lot physically and with his height and body he can defend from 1 to 3. Good 3-point shooter and penetrates well to the hoop. Interesting directing and passing the ball, although he is more of a combo guard than a pure point guard. I don't like him defensively, he uses his hands too much and doesn't position his body well. All his coaches praise his work ethic. He is having a good start to the season at Illinois, averaging 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 10.0 assists, shooting 40% from three.
I think he can play 1-3 on both ends of the floor, which is obviously great versatility to have. Best case scenario, Jakucionis can keep being a heavy on-ball offensive engine. In a safer floor, maybe he takes up a role similar to Bogdan Bogdanovic, where he's still one of the team's ballhandlers but is tasked more so with giving the lineup an injection of energy rather than leading it. Continuing on the topic of his body, what I really like about Kasparas - and I touch on this in the video - is how physical he is when driving to the basket. He gets to the free throw line a lot. He's already shot 16 free throws in his first two games with Illinois. Getting to the line so much helps him stay efficient, as well.
Very good start to the season. In his last 4 games he is averaging 22 points, 7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.25 steals with 55.5% 3P and 95% FT.
